The Playstations best racing games are..............

When it comes to racing games, the Playstation has a freaking boatload of them. I'm interested in going back to the old games and checking them out, but I would love to focus on just the best racers out there. Like the 20 best Racing games on the Playstation.

Right now I have Wipeout (the first one), Gran Turismo (the first one), Destruction Derby (the first one), Jet Moto 2, and Motor Toon Grand Prix.

I like all of those games in one way or another, but I know that there are probably some really, really good racing games out there that I don't have. Which ones should I focus on?

You can go ahead and list your 10 favorite Racing games on the PSX. Or 20, if you'd like.

i second that opinion about Ridge Racer type 4...its the best arcade racer for psx....i still love that game

Ridge Racer Type 4 is pretty cool (with or without the JogCon controller). I never got to try it system linked or got to see what the PocketStation can do with it. Gran Turismo 1 and 2 are obvious choices. Wipeout games (first, XL, and 3) are loads of fun and are particularly cool with system link multiplayer.

The Need for Speed games are alright but I've always favored the PC versions.

I've always liked the Moto Racer series (Moto Racer, Moto Racer 2, and Moto Racer World Tour)

The first will probably always be my favorite, but the second one has the nice course designer. And World Tour, while really quite different in look and feel from the first 2, has some great tracks.

Can't forget about the Rollcage series. Kind of tricky (at least for me) to control, and the tracks are pretty short, but if you can control it at the high speeds, it's pretty darn nice. Some flashy graphic effects as well.

I also like Cart World Series, but I don't know how well it has held up over time. . .I guess I should investigate. :)

Oh, hey, I forgot all about Gran Turismo...I forget that there was really good stuff on the PSX sometimes :) Gotta pick those up sometime...I'm not a big fan of racing in general, but somehow those games do it for me.

I got addicted to test drive 5 and all of my friends raved about NFS 2: high stakes? anyways, it was NFS 2.....I know that much. There's alot of quality action to be had on a playstation and a nice system as well. Too bad the quality didn't rub off on the PS2 LOL Not to say that the psx didn't have some flaws but you get the pt. :D

RC de Go!, Colin McRae 2.0, and any of the TOCA games are pretty cool as well.

Also, Motorhead may not be the greatest game ever, I thought it was pretty fun.

Rage Racer's last car goes so fast the game looks like it's going backwards. Best series ever in my opinion. ^_^

the Wipeout series is unbelievable, but Wipeout 3 is the choice pick, cheap now too!

Crash Team Racing is an awesome mario kart clone, as said above, it's excellent.

Ridge Racer Type 4, I also second the many motions above saying that this game rules, it's the only game that stole me away from Metal Gear Solid in those days

i'm gonna second RC de Go. great fun if you're into RC-type games... i liked it better than revolt, totally different tho.

it's a bit short, and the later stages are REALLY REALLY hard, but it's a good time

A lot of good ones have already been thrown out, but I'll go for the little guy here:

Circuit Breakers. It's not that fun as a single player game, but get a multitap and a couple of players and it's a blast. Essentially like the old Micro Machines games, it's a blast.
