View Full Version : Gradius V delayed AGAIN?!?

I was doing my customary checking on the release date at Gamestop yesterday, and they currently have Gradius V listed as coming out in September.
SEPTEMBER?!!? The last time I checked it was listed in July! And that was after being pushed back from March!
Now I'm not sure how reliable Gamestop's info is, so I checked KoA's site and message board. No info there, unfortunately. I think I'm going to fire off an email to Konami soon to see if I can get an answer.
I can only say two things if it has been delayed until September - it had better not be delayed again, and this had better be the best damn Gradius ever, even better than Gradius Gaiden.

In the interest of my new resolve to stay positive, I'm just going to say be glad it's still scheduled for a US release at all. :)

In the meantime, at least R-Type Final is out right now. :)

Let's hope for the best. Lest KoA pushed to get it released over here. Delays ar eunderstandable to a point..long as Sony's not involved with them.

All these delays of Gradius V are starting to make me paranoid that the game has been cancelled. I certainly hope that isn't what's going to end up happening or I am gonna be pissed. This is the only PS2 game I am looking forward to right now.
At least those Sony assholes didn't get R Type Final cancelled.

It's now listed as a Sept. 6 release on Gamespot's gamefinder engine, but the actual game page still lists is as an April 5th release. And, of course, gotta love that "An all-new Gradius game is coming to the PS2 in 2003" summary right there (they coud at least update the year!).
Anyway, I just got Ikaruga and R-Type Final (plus all countless other games to master that I already had), so I have enough to keep me busy till Gradius V's supposed release.

Lest this turn into another round of Sony bashing, do we know why the game has been pushed back? I mean we still don't even know if this delay is official or not. And it could be because of problems on Konami's end not anything nefarious on Sony's part.
I'm not trying to be a Sony defender or anything, I just get tired of the negativity and jumping to conclusions that go around no matter what we're talking about.

My nuts, just the first thing that popped into my head. Didn't mean to incite anything.

Dammit. At least R-Type Final will keep me entertained, and I haven't even played Gradius Gaiden yet... still, dammit. :o

Aside from my burning desire to play the game RIGHT NOW, I really am wondering exactly what's causing the holdup. Is Konami taking time to seriously refine the game? Are internal problems in the company causing this? If they are working with Treasure on it, are there problems on Treasure's end? Is it because of Sony's negative attitude towards 2-D games? I just want an answer. Hopefully when Konami replies to my email, we'll know for sure.

This is a long shot, but maybe the delay was necessary to make this... heh, this isn't possible... a Gradius Gaiden/V double pack?!? It's not going to happen, is it? Still, a gamer can dream... :D

Somehow I doubt it, although it'd be sweet. It's not like there's much translation they'd have to do in GG (next to none), and they would have to tweak it a little to get the "On The Event Horizon" stage to work correctly (it runs slow when playing the game on the PS2), but I doubt Konami's even going to bother with releasing it here, ever. Hell, we're still waiting on a U.S. release of Gradius II, and look how long THAT'S been around.
Still waiting for a reply - hopefully soon.

Since R-Type 3 (GBA) has also been delayed again, I can only conclude that there is a Sony/Nintendo/Konami/Treasure/Irem conspiracy going on to stick it up the wazoo of shooter fans.

Yeah, I asked at my local EB and the game has been delayed till Septeber.
It sucks, I wish I knew why. :(

Probably cause of Sony, unless Konami somehow had to tweak the game.

I wouldn't panic.
They just announced that it'll be released in July on the Japanese side of things, and just had it on demonstration in Akihabara.
No biggie... it's coming out.

LOL
Isn't it always?

I like to remain optimistic and think they're tweaking the game. Let's just hope Treasure don't fill Rare's shoes and become notorious for delaying games, since the step after that is making crappy games and then not at all. Just look at Rare. :D

Ummm...R-Type 3 came out. And from what I've heard, the music sucks.

Ubersaurus is right, but aside from the terrible music and sound effects, R-Type III really is a good translation.
I'm telling you, the next time Sony acts tyrannical about what's released for their PS2, the third parties need to go on strike and show the bastards who's boss.
