SWEET Dumpster Diving Finds

I've recently found a dumpster for a local game store that has been yielding pretty consistent results. Today I got my biggest haul so far & thought I'd share:

I was very happy. I do have one question for employees of major video game stores. Do you think this store was field destroying those 250+ PS2/XBOX games? There weren't any discs in the dumpster, but I can't think of any other reason all of those inserts/instructions would be there.

This is puzzling to me because it seems there were lots of (semi-)valuable games in there. I know some of the 2K2 sports games won't really sell anymore, but there were plenty of titles in there that would. Can any employees explain this to me, or is there another explanation?

There were also TONS of plastic wrappers with the game's name/barcode/price mixed among the inserts. But no discs. And no cases... hmmm... very strange.

Often times, a store will begin to amass quite a collection of empty PS2/Xbox cases for various reasons. Many stores that send back defective games to corporate will only send the disc and keep the case, so any caseless games they might have can have a case to call home.

Congrats on the find, and make sure you return there since you've found a store where the employees don't care much about games. Throwing out the FF:CC rotating standee? Madness, I say.

BTW, I can tell you hit up a Gamestop since you got about 50% of last month's marketing materials. LOL :)

Not in a dumpster, but an old barn.. Hauled away for free. 24 cabinets, most seem restorabe. Acouple of them plugged up and worked.

I mean: 24 cabinets
just the "FFCC" tube knocked me off but the cabinets are really a great find
last time I dumpster dived at my "local " gamestore I found a half sandwich and the instruction booklet of Super Mario World (drown in coke)....

Anyhow, that flying Wario is one hell of a find. I have no idea how old that must be, but it's gotta be pretty old.

Hell, you give me any 5 of those cabinets, and I'll let you hit me in the mouth with a crowbar! A chipped tooth is a small price to pay for 24 FREE cabs. How's about typing up a list of what you got? I think I saw a Yie Ar Kung Fu, but no idea on some of the others...

Those inserts are nice, but it looks like most of the Xbox ones are the "for display only" versions.

It's a semi-long story that I first posted about on the KLOV forum. There is no Tron.:(

I've been super-busy lately. In fact I am tearing that barn down for the lumber to build some storage space. So I haven't really made an inventory. Most of the cabs are conversions.
But the basic deal is that they were bought out 10-15 years ago and then put in the barn. The barn collapsed around most of them at some point. A friend spotted the barn from the road and mentioned it to me. I was wanting to get some arcade controls anyways. So I offered to move them for free. He said that I could have everything but the Pac-Man cabs. Turns out the PCBS and monitors look good, and the only restoring I've been doing is cleaning out rat's nests and rewiring what the rats chewed.

Here's what I remember that I have, in various condition:

Gun.Smoke (One of my favorite games!)
