i've seen it mentioned here and there that a lot of you are close to finishing your NES collections, say 150 to go or so. now is the right time to be going for completion since the games are pretty easy to come by with funco/gamestop selling them. i sometimes think that if i could hit enough funco's i'd have everything but the porn and NWC carts, so heres the idea - send me your needed games list, and i'll send you mine and if one of us comes across a game the other needs we buy it for the other person. leave the price tag on and send it for a paypal or check based exchange. no complex trade equalizing or fussy stuff here just good karma and games for cost. minor details could be hammered out but thats the basic idea, anybody game? in my area i cover 3 or 4 funco's a month so i might be able to really help some one out. if you're interested in this idea post a response and we'll get to the emailing later.

My Funco isn't selling NES (or SNES) games after Chrstmas. I've heard other stores around the nation are following suit, though not all of them. That might throw a bit of a monkey wrench into your plans. Funco is somewhat overpriced anyways, so I'm not too saddened about it.

oh the horror! wonder what they do with the games when they pull them off the shelves? seeing as how they are still selling NES consoles for $43 bucks i figured they would hang in there. any funcolites have the scoop on this (achika)?

They trash them. Sometimes (depending on the store) they breask them first. Check their dumpsters.
They figure that its better to destroy them than to reduce the price for some retarted reason.

I've not heard news of this so far. If this does happen (somehow I think they put you through a loop Dobie) I will have some "secret" operation where I'll be able to salvage most of the carts....i.e. hey achika, you need any of these before we smash em? or achika, can you sell these on ebay and get money for school.
LMK what you want CS, I might be down with this. Trade for DC games I'm looking for perhaps?

I'm only a little over 170 away, so I'm down with this idea.
Even if Funco stops carrrying Nes, wouldnt the ydo some super sale? It would be stupid, and not a very good buisness idea, to trash the carts! (Duh) like Gennny carts, buy two, get third free.
Even if they stop, I still hit up garage sales, and flea markets for stuff. so drop me a line at spoontoss@hotmail.com

@achika- that might work since i still see a decent selection of DC games around here. oh and if you still want those action max tape/games, i have them.
ok so that makes three of us, lets see if anybody else gets onboard.

No Funco on this side of the border, guys ! :(
anyway, i still think that NES game are still overpriced in Quebec (for some unknown reason, other place in Canada i don't know) so the best deal are made in flea market time, in winter forget it.
I'm only at 172 games, so that's make me really long road before hitting 700.

Achika--I just know I talked to the manager of the one here, and that's what I was told by him. I figured since he was the manager, he would know. I don't think he'd try to intentionally scare off a regular NES customer--or would he? Maybe he just doesn't like me. LOL

Ah ha! I sorta know the answer to this trivia question!
When a store (any store, not just GameStop) tosses inventory because they're not interested in keeping it around (lack of shelf space, etc.) they dump it because they can write it off as a loss on their taxes. The breaking of the stuff is a technical aspect - technically, it has to be unsalable to qualify as a loss.

Well, the prices here in Toronto are CRAZY! And that's at the flea markets too! To top it off, most of the microplays (funcoland equivalent) and EB don't carry NES anymore..
with the rush of XBOX, PS/2 and cube, they got rid of anything older than N64 this past summer! (or so I was told by a few store owners).
The best dealers now are online.. but with the CDN$ worth almost as much as mexican money, our best bet is to buy from canadian sellers only..
oh well..

I don't really need any help in finding NES games but if anyone wants to send me their lists, I come across NES games all the time for a buck or two I would be willing to pass on if it would help out.

Unfortunately a place like Funcoland is the best option for some people. I live in State College, Pennsylvania -- so there's not even a Funcoland within 2 hours of this place. I travel to my mothers house in Scranton, PA and try to stop off at Funcoland and pick up some NES carts. Generally, you can find a lot cheaper online, but after shipping the prices generally end up evening out.
Anyhow -- I just threw my entire Cartridge listing up on my website. I'd participate in the mailing of games -- however I couldn't offer much for games. (ie. maybe only a buck or two... maybe depending on the game I could see what I could swing........***if the girlfriend doesn't know about it!!!***)
Anyhow, you can see it at http://www.sconnolly.com/cartlist.txt
