Why I love Atari

I love Atari because it's been here for over 30 years.
The 2600 was my first system and I haven't got any other brand since then
All my systems are Atari: 2600,7800, Lynx and Jaguar (I didn't ant to get the 5200 because for the low support but would to get one just for collectors item, as for the XG that was more computer then game system)
my favorite games are: star raiders,raiders of the lost ark,swordquest series games (thats 2600) for jaguar there is protector and battlesphere. theres basiclly too many games for me list that Ilike.
all my systems I got when they first came out.
I also started a user group dedicated to Atari systems.

I love Atari because it was also MY first console (actually a Coleco Gemini clone, but it still counts, right?). The best (and most forgotten) Atari title has to be Solaris, the sequel to Star Raiders!

Heck, graphics on the 2600 may be primitive, but they were a reason why the games were better: the power of imagination (you have no choice when you try to convince yourself DK Jr. stars DK Jr., not Big Bird...).

I would like to express my love for the 2600 in the form of a haiku:

Graphics are blocky
Six silver switches glisten
One button, no more.

Atari showed us what video games were, and made the industry what it is today. When I look back at all the games that I consider to be "classic", at least half of them are made by Atari themselves. They are the kings of the arcade, with everything from Asteroids and Major Havoc to Primal Rage and T*Mek. Although (for all intensive purposes) they may be gone, they shall never be forgotten.

although im on the microsoft island....id have to say that the atari logo is really cool.....it is simplistic, yet stylish ... i hate when a logo is just the companies name written out without any symbol

Every tribe owes thanks to Atari since they really put this industry on the map (I don't know what map but I'm guessing Rand McNally) with the first popular mainstream video game system. Without Atari we would not be playing the same video games or video games at all today.

Well I do remember has a kid having and odessey 300 or something yellow and with knobs. but i don't remeber when the switch was made to Atari. I remember playing everything, my brother had over 30+ games. Combat Pac-man Hunted house....

Then the next major thing was getting the Arcadia/starpath Supercharger and swearing at the tape player for not letting me load any games.

Then the next step was the Atari 400, my brother got one to program and whatnot and i go tthe handmedown 2600. but he stoled the controllers. Howver we had the systems hooked up side by side, but why play the 2600 when the graphics of the 400 were killer. Played the hell out of asteroids/defender/choplifter/pac-man....wow just like the arcades. And the basic cartridge.....the only way i was able to play the 400 was if i typed a load of 10 goto 10 code from whatever book he had to get some game syped in and saved to audio tape.(ug and i hated that 400 keyboard)

but yeah when the wind down started. I would cut my parents and the 2 neighbors grass once a week. Take the cash and ride my bike or the bus to toys r us 2-3 miles away....not the best thing to do in chicago when your 10 but hey needed a new $12 game.

I love Atari because it gave us the Lynx a handheld that isn't so small I can't hold it. It also allowed me to take Ninja Gaiden (arcade version) , Ninja Gaiden III and Rygar on the road. :)

Bump N Jump, Astroblast, Frogs and Flies, and even Kool Aid Man are some great examples of what a great company can do with Atari's hardware.

I also love Atari because they made some great arcade games for the Intellivision too, such as a snazzy version of Pac-man.
