well, its been almost 4 years since alll the Next gen systems have been out. what is your favorite and why?
My favorite would have to be the Gameboy Advance. It has some of the best rpg's i have ever played, plus a ton of great platformers. And you can take it anywhere.
Is dreamcast stil next-gen? I think the dreamcast is my favorite console
Dreamcast with out a doubt. Why? Great games at great prices. Plus the games look damn nice with the vga box.

Sign me up for #3.
To me, DC is questionable since there are no more games being released state-side besides homebrews (unsure if the Japanese market is still kicking around)

I'd agree with the Dreamcast in terms of quality in its quantity, but I'm afraid I have to join the PS2 wagon too. Mostly for just games like Kingdom Hearts, Mad Maestro and DOA 2: Hardcore, though. If not for them, I'd say Gamecube.

Gamecube
Innovative Games, High Quality games, fun games.
Although we are definitely lacking in the RPG department. :(

Playstation 2, has a lot of games I want to play plus online play (which I hope to get sometime LOL )
The PS2.
It has the greatest selection of games I enjoy.

If Dreamcast counts, then I say Dreamcast. If not, then I say none of them. I have a PS2 but I don;t really play it. It's all about NES and Genny for me. But Dreamcast should count since it is of the same generation as PS2.
Chris
Probably GCN, although i really like XBOX just because of the Live play :)

Dreamcast. By far.
I honestly don't understand the PS2. I cannot find a single exclusive game for it that makes me want to play it. I've been trying to lately, but just nothing seems to interest me on that platform. Hell, I work at a video store now, and I have trouble even finding stuff to spend a free rental on and try. Is there something wrong with me? Heh.

Dreamcast shouldn't count anymore. It is getting old listening to the DC fans saying how the DC should still be around. -_- -_- -_- Yes it was a good system but it got its ass handed to it. Enough is Enough already.

LOL ;)
I can think of all kinds of exclusives worth buying:
Kingdom Hearts
Xenosaga
DDRMAX 1 and 2
Space Channel 5
Virtua Fighter Evolution
Grand Theft - Vice City & Sin City
Ratchet & Clank 1 & 2 - I LOVE this game!
Gran Turismo
NASCAR Heat - dirt to daytona
Final Fantasy 10, 10-2, and 12
Red Faction 1 & 2
I'm sure other PS2 fans can expand this list. Point is, there's tons of great PS2 exclusives if you're not wearing blinders.

Next gen systems, I would say the PS3, for the same reason that my favorie current gen system is the PS2 (I'm sorry, but when you say "the next-gen systems came out 4 years ago", it just hurts my linguistics)
For CURRENT gen systems, the PS2 - Japanese RPG's are by far and away my favorite genre, and it's the ONLY system with ANY (and it has a TON of GREAT ones)

Space Channel 5 Is a Dreamcast game. Vice City and Red Faction are also on PC. DDR is on everything, including simulated on PC with a bajillion songs including fanmade ones. None of the others on your list interest me. Sorry.
Thanks for trying though...damn it's weird.

As usual it looks like Im on my own... LOL
My favorite is XBox. I feel that it has the brightest future for innovations then any other system. When it comes down to keeping things fresh with new features, the Xbox is much more ahead than the PS2 and its capabilities.
Look at Xbox Live and its features, The thing blows away PS2 Online.
Yes maybe Im being a "fanboy" but the subject of the thread asked for it... :P
[Edit] And yes I own a PS2... [Edit]

Accually I'm rather partial to the Xbox as well. It got the next installment in a lot of Sega franchises; hell, JSRF was a pack-in for awhile. There's a lot of decent games that can be picked up under 20 bucks now, and it can be easily softmodded now, which is fun.
Cube is pretty nifty too though.

Dreamcast all the way followed by xbox, they got 2 of my fav sega franchises, Panzer Dragoon and Jet Set Radio. PS2 YES has the biggest game library but im sorry out of everyone 50 ps2 titles there may be only like 1 i enjoy, not enuff to sway me over.

The good ones on GameCube are great (Animal Crossing, most other Nintendo games, Rogue Squadron II), but they're too far between. Same with Xbox, except it's even more of the same stuff (I have 11 games and over half are Clancy titles) and replay value is helped by Xbox Live. Thus the PS2 wins, primarily because of the RPGs like Suikoden III, Final Fantasy X, etc. (just like last generation). My list:
1. PS2
2. Xbox
3. GCN
4. DC
As for Dreamcast...I've only felt like 6 games were worth keeping since it died, and four of them are RPGs (two I've barely touched, and two I've beaten and haven't touched in years).

Gamecube is my great because of all the exclusive games (Monkey Ball, Animal Crossing, Zelda, etc). However, I think Xbox Live is very well conceieved and blows PS2 online away. My current favorite next-current Gen console is my GBA. Innovative, old-school titles, and it's portable! Yea!

My favorite out of the current generation of consoles is the Xbox without question.
Xbox live is great. I'm a big fan of online gaming, and Live was very well thought out and implemented. There's plenty of games I enjoy immensely on the system, MechAssault, Unreal Championship, Ninja Gaiden, Capcom vs SNK 2, Rallisport 2, Metal Slug 3, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and of course the multi-console titles usually look better on the Xbox. In addition, widescreen and HDTV support are standard on most games, the controller's well laid out, but more than the hardware, it's the games and the support for the system that make me like it.

- You can't go to EBgames or amazon.com and buy a new Space Channel game. It's now essentially PS2-exclusive. Dreamcast is obsolete and so are its games. (It's time to FACE THE FACTS... it's history. It's in the same heap of obsolete consoles as N64, Atari Jaguar, SMS, et cetera).
- A $3000 gaming PC is a separate animal, and should not be compared to a $200 console. Or be part of a "console exclusives" discussion. (Plus, it's a real bitch to make PC games work!!!!! GRRRR. I can't afford the $1000 a year and/or time to constantly upgrade the damn thing. Give me the plug'n'play siimplicty/bargain price of a console)
- Even minus those titles, there's still a great selection of PS2 games. Stop being biased against the PS2 and go play some Kingdom Hearts. ;)

I'd have to pick XBox...since I've got it, that's the system I've been getting the most games for...I'd pick GameCube next...great games, just not enough of them. I also have a PS2 which I'd put in 3rd...I only get PS2 exclusives for that system but I do like many of their platform games like the Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank games.
Regarding the Dreamcast being obsolete...no system is obsolete if you still enjoy playing it.

I wish I could agree with you but you are wrong, the early PS2 games may be looked some sort of similar to Dreamcast but even those were better, yea I know you are tlaking about Tekken Tag, Rumble Racing and Midnight club, the very early games, I recomend you try new games, POP, Jak and Dex 1 and 2 ... There are stil some games that look like dreamcast games, for instance that bujgani or somthing but thats just on the developers part, or perhaps you should look at Gt3, there isn't a game on any other console that looks as good as GT3.

I first got Dreamcast and as everyone remembers it, it was great!
I loved all the action/fighitng games, King of Fighters, my favorite game has to be, Capcom vs SNK: Millineum Fight 2000, I played it every day in summer with my brother and friends. But Dreamcast's ass really got handed to SEGA with horrible software sales and the 55 million budget on Shemue games. And also no protection on games making piracy very easy.
PS2 came out in 2000, although I didn't get it till mid 2001, I have to say it was selling like crazy. 2001 was the right time for PS2 as well, GT3, MGS2, DMC1 , GTA 3, ssx, ffx, Jak and Dex. And all of these games were awesome.
GameCube/Xbox at the end of 2001, and quiet fankly if you have been playing games since NES you knew which one to get, but the only prob was that there was no Mario Game at the launch and the Luigi's Mansion wasn't that great. I didn't buy the xbox till its price drop in 2002 and quiet frankly I think it SUCKED. I got the amped bundle, after playing amped I realised how good 1080 snowboard was. Also tried WWF Raw, Great graphics and shitty game play. At that point I picked up the overly hyped Halo. Quiet frankly after a level or 2 it got boring but I finsihed it anyways. Its the most overhyped piece of junk I have ever played in my life, The story was weak and sucked and here my friend was bragging about it to every one. Now that I think of it I would rather play Mario Sunshine than I will play Halo.
Till the end of 2002 my xbox was collecting just untill Splinter Cell came it. IT was the best stealth game ever made.
The Xbox Live vs PS2 online is actualy quiet solid argument. I donot play online alot but I prefer Xbox Live simple because of better people and the only game I even play online is Crimson Skies but it got old for me.
At the End I would say that Nintendo's gamecube has more and better exclusives than Xbox, Xbox has like 5 games that I really enjoy thats it!
When it comes to Console Ranking I would say:
1. PS2
2. Dreamcast
3. GameCube
4. Xbox
And quiet frankly 2004 is PS2s year.
thats my opinion.
This is how I rank the next gen consoles:
1-Playstation 2
2-Gamecube
3-Gameboy Advance
4-XBox
I consider the PS2 the best because it just has the best library of games, IMO. The reason I have the Nintendo systems at number 2 and 3 is because I'm just a big fan of Nintendo.

1. Dreamcast (dead or not, it's still part of this generation. You'll have to wait 'til the next round of consoles before DC can be cast into the annals of gaming has-beens).
2. PS2
3. Xbox

4. Game Boy Advance (distant 4th)
5. GameCube (even more distant 5th)
