This is meant for people to post their weird events that have happened in Gamestop, or any other gaming store.

Tonight I walk in to trade my Gamecube for store credit, in front of me is a guy selling his games, and they turn down his copy of NCAA Football 2003, saying it was too scratched, so he turns around and asks me if I want it. Me being the cheap, take-anything person I can get, I accept it, I didn't think to look inside till later. I thank the guy and go on about my business.

Later on I get home, open it up, find the copy of NCAA, in horrible condition, and a 100 dollar bill inside of the manual:)

I love Gamestop, and if that person happens to read this, Thanks! :)

I think the best part was when the manager guy for the area explained that it was their policy to accept returns from other stores.

Seriously though it was scary.

Today I went into the EB Games by my work (they know me there...) and Jenn who manages the place said, "I just got an X-Box that sounds like a cowbell."

Together we did the "I got a fever, and the only prescription is more... COW BELL" Walken gag, and then she showed me. She pulled an X-Box out of a shipping container, and shook it, and I swear to you, the thing had a cowbell in it.

Sad part is it was refurbished by EB.

She's good though. Anybody need an Einhander? 'cuz they've got a used one in stock I could bring to the expo if someone wants it at EB prices.

Gamestop has a new offer, trade in 4 out of a list of next gen rpgs and get Star Ocean 3 free. On the list under the ps2 section are are Growlanser Generations (Not gonna be out before SO3) and Grandia 1 (Which was a ps1 game)

When I was working at GameStop I bought a reburbished XboX from them. Same deal. The damn thing really did sound like a cow bell, it also didn't work right so I returned it, came to my senses and bought a brand new one.

May I ask whom he is supposed to return it to? :o

You got lucky this time, I don't think you are really obligated to hunt the guy down. Enjoy the $$$!

Oh sweet man, nice. I'd feel really guilty, but what can you do? You didn't know it'd be there, and there's no way to give it back to him. It's his bad luck - and he probably doesn't even realize it was there. That said, if he does, oh man must he be pissed off. LOL.

Yeah the funny thing about it is that I was going to buy a game that costs exactly $20. So I bassically got Midways arcade treasures for free!

Its better than trading a 100 dollar bill into gamestop for like $1. I think I'd rather give it to someone...

That reminds me of how people would occasionally leave their memory cards in the cases of games they trade in, but that is much better!

The honest thing to do is....

1. You have money that isn't rightfully yours and you cant find the owner again

2. Give it to a charity of your choice (and not the {insertnamehere} fund for buying games ethier) i mean a real charity

That way you can stay with a clear Coinscience and help someone somewhere in the world

also have you checked the bill isn't counterfeit?

otherwise if u still wanna buy oen game give half to charity and half on a brand spanking new game of ure choice

When I first started working at gamecrazy...like within the first week...these 2 younger kids came in with a bag of trade ins and said they were gonna look around first, so we just pushed the bag aside....10 min later they say they forgot about some trade-ins they have in there side pokets and pull out EMPTY cases with our price stickers on them, so we tell them the jig is up and they argue and my assistant manager pretends to call the cops and they high tail it out of there...the bag sits in the back room for a month, finally my boss tells me to get rid of the stuff so i take it home....and what a friendly suprise....inside awaiting for me was a treasure trove... 1 neo geo pocket color 5 games including the first 2 metal slug games. 5 sega cd games including both lunars - shining force cd - the unedited version of nighttrap, and eternal champions.

Im a happy happy man :D

Good thing is, maybe you detered them from pulling this again.

Wierdest thing ever happen to me? Hmmm. Maybe the time the kooky manager wouldn't stop bothering me to preorder Enter The Matrix when I told him all I was buying was NES games and that I didn't even like The Matrix. He said "GAME OF THE YEAR MATERIAL" at least 10 times. LOL

lmao! Yeah we've got preorder goals pretty regularly, but I'm not that talentless that I would have to resort to flooding every customer with "Hey did you hear about the great new game coming out?"

I pick my battles and do very well hehe

That's one thing I really like about my local EB. I go in there enough so most people know me by first name. And they know my tastes and will mention new games coming out they think I might like. Most of the time they are right. :D

I can see them having Grandia 1 there. It probably goes for more than most PS2 rpgs do by now.

I remember walking into EB games last year, and buying a couple Genesis games.

I bring them to the clerk.

Clerk: Into the classic stuff, huh?

Me: Yep.

Clerk 2: Hey, wanna buy an X-Box too?

Me and the clerk just stare at the the other guy, until we both say

Both: DOES IT LOOK LIKE IT?!

The second clerk walked away and continued stacking the X-box games.

Me and the first clerk laughed as I walked out.

Ah, almost the same thing happened to me. Some guy sold me a Genesis lot at a random flea market out of state, once I got home, I noticed a few N64 boxes at the bottom. One was Madden 64, the other was Super Mario 64. I took a peek at both for games, and came up with nothing, but in the Madden 64 box, I come upon a nice little treat.

A crisp $100 bill. It was delicious I must say.

i remember seeing a copy of shenmue 2 at gamestop, for the dreamcast.

it was 11 bucks, i ask the clerk if that was the real price, then he started trowing shit at it because it didn't booted on american dc's and it didn't had the dc-x. when i get to the register, the mofo didn't wanted to sell it to me, grabbed it and hid it.

he did knew, too.

Nothing too bizarre, but I got Champions of Norrath USED about a week after it released. I'm guessing someone blazed through it, or got discouraged at its quirky disc errors. I traded in some games to get the price under $25. The first case (Mass Destruction) the clerk opened was empty- I had been listening to the soundtrack in my car- w/ the bass cranked WAY up.

Then, not a year ago, I went to an electronics store that was closing out their PS2 games & they still had WipeOut: Fusion for $50!!! I called it to their attention- & bought it used for under $10 at EB the next day.

:D 8-) LOL

I find this very funny... yes EB, gamestop etc. all pay crappy prices when you trade in games, we know this. But what's funny is deals like this actually winding up getting you MORE money than you normall would from these stores (still not as much as selling on ebay, selling at a garage sale, or selling/trading at a site like this)

So a perfect example of why you don't trade to game stores is because they give deals letting you get more money than you normally would?

Don't get it...
