I really would like to play 7th Guest again, my brother used to have it, I remember I solved the clue "Reluctant Nomad Has Clandestine Metting By Graveside" the answer being........
"Shy Gypsy Slyly Spryly Tryst By My Crypt" @_@
anyway, it was on some old PC or other that he had, but was it ever released on the 3DO or any other console, does anyone know?

It was released on the Philips CD-i; I've heard that version was better than the PC game, but it's a bit slow in places AND my copy dies right after you beat the crypt maze! Woe is me.

No, I don't believe it was released on the 3DO or PS1. At least not in the US. I was working at Babbage's at that time and I never saw it for those machines. That game was a few years old by the time PS1 and Saturn were released, and there was already a sequel out called the 11th Hour. I always wanted that to come out on the consoles, but I don't think it ever did.
Every stinkin' machine at the time had a version of Myst, however. I can't decide if Myst is better or worse than the 7th Guest, but it is a (somewhat) comparable game which I'm sure you wouldn't have trouble finding.

Yes, the only console version of 7th Guest was for CD-I. And one of the only reasons to OWN a CD-I. :)

Thanks for the answers.
I don't really want to play myst, and yes it is freely available.
Now, I do want to buy a CD-i! Will be on my "minor wants" list this year.
Funnily enough, I saw 11th hour for PC at a car boot sale yesterday, and saw tht it was the sequel, had not heard of it before, seeing that prompted me to ask the question.

i have 7th guest and 11th hour for my pc, they were both great games back in the day...its to bad my pc wont run em now...anywhos...but yea 7th guest was for pc and cd-i...and 11th hour was pc only....accually the first time i played myst was on my sega saturn, and i loved it...i own every myst game...i dunno why i like em so much...i love the soundtracks
I really sould try to find 11th Hour sometime as I liked 7th Guest. Oh and did anyone buy the little known Uncle Henry's Playhouse?
Anyway, apparently Nintendo payed $1 million for the exclusive console CD-ROM rights for The 7th Guest just so there wouldn't be a Sega CD version.
Just in case someone hasn't read this excellent feature yet: The rise and fall of Trilobyte (http://www.gamespot.com/features/btg-tri/index.html).
