After reading the 16bit version, i decided this should be discussed!
i searched thru the forum and couldnt find an exsisting topic on it so here we go! (please move this to the Classic Discussion mods!)

in my opinion....

I agree, M.U.L.E. is an excellent choice as a best game for the best 8-bit computer ever, Atari.
Or another classic: Preppy. Or Necromancer.
Of course, Star Raiders sold the machine.....

On Apple II and /or C-64 I would say: The Bards Tale III....

Pepper 2 on Coleco is my fave choice for that console.

NES, SMB 3?!? Well, it would be, wouldn't it!!!

SMS.....perhaps Sonic?

VCS....Pitfall 2

Such a tough question.

I'd probably have to go with SMB3 though, such a great game.

Mega Man 3 is close though. I love that game.

Bubble Bobble, followed VERY closely by Super Mario Bros. 3, then Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES), fourth is Tetris and fifth is Castlevania.

DO NOT DENY THE CHOICES! THE YOUNGEN HAS SPOKEN!!! (or go ahead if you want, it's my opinion after all)

Galaga for Atari 7800!!!!

Actually, my first pick is SMB3, but I wanted to be different, and I really like Galaga 8-)

Hmm, just a thought - would Turbografix 16 games count as 8 bit or 16 bit?
*ducks as flame war with Turbografix fans starts*

adventure island for nes, followed by wonder boy in monster land for master system.

I think the TG16 version of Adventure Island and Monster Lair looked a hell of alot better and they were in fact 8-bit.

I would've said Rainbow Islands, but I can't think of a definitive 8-bit version (MD & Saturn have the best ones), so I'll go with Pang instead.

Well mine would be Super mario bros. and possibly tetris.

I rember when i was five or so my dad had to stay home from work cause he was sick and he played star tropics all day for a week and then he finally beat it. My dad also really loved defender 2 and he hate video games usulally other then racing ones. we still have that game today i saved it from my dad's friend's leaking basement it still works but the file's gone I gave up at the graveyard.

Baseball Stars! Its was SNK's finest NES moment and was the most innovative home console sports game at the time.

The only reason it beat out my original idea to say Super Mario Bros. is because til this day, my boys and I play Baseball Stars in leagues for cash prizes :) Damn near perfect game.

If you classify the PCE as 8-bit, then it's no question: FEOE/TM Fuun Kabuki Den.

If not, then Alex Kidd In Miracle World of course.

I agree with Super Mario 3. I think it's still the best game ever made. Although I must say I'm surprised how few people have mentioned Metroid and Legend of Zelda...
