All non 8 or 32 bit Final Fantasy games (yes, including VII). I also don't like pretty much any extreme sports titles (Tony Hawk, Dave Mirra, etc....), and a few FPS titles, mostly Halo and Half-Life. Neither were very good (or 'revolutionary') in my opinion and they are way overhyped.

Several Games Spring to Mind:
Earthbound (I can't stand the graphics)
Mario 64 (and I loved Sunshine)
Zelda 64 (camera was too aggravating)
Metroid Prime (hated the camera, hated the controls, and I generally hate FPSers on consoles)

I don't "get" 8 bit NES/famicom RPGs. Boring. I like the 16-bit SNES/S-Famicom ones. Like Mario RPG!

I couldn't get into the Final Fantasy series until I played 2 and 3 US. The original didn't capture me, and FF VII, which is simply ADORED by my buddies I hang out with, I couldn't stand.
MMORPGs. Maybe it's just because I can't play them very well on my current computer, but every time I hear about or watch a friend play one, from EverQuest to FF XI, I just ask then "How the hell do you sit here for hours and do next to nothing? I have a TV if I want to do that!"
Soccer games. I've tried getting into them, from playing Goal! for the NES to NEO GEO World Cup '98 for the NGPC, and I simply can't get into them. It's a entertaining sport to watch, just not one I like playing on a screen.
Here's one I might get hurt for (good thing this is a pretty non-violent thread): Mortal Kombat. I just can't get into the control scheme, especially the block button. The characters are cool, the fatalities rock (even though I can't pull any of them personally), and the whole feel of the game is cool. It's the control, man. Though I did like Deadly Alliance a bit, the original games I just don't get.

No, I meant to say that I liked the older FF games on the NES and SNES. When it moved into the 32 bit and beyond systems, I became disinterested. Basically I don't like any FF games on the Playstation or Playstation 2, including FF VII, which has loads of fanboys.

I don't get the older ones either, but I'd rather play through an old-school SNES FF game (The only one I've ever enjoyed to an extent was V on the Anthology disc. Yeah, it was on the PSX, but it was a port of the Super Famicom so it was playable to me.) over any of the newer ones. I couldn't even figure out where to go in FFVII.

I didn't get 'Escape from Monkey Island' or 'Myst' and eventually gave up on both. I have no doubt both are good, but a puzzle solver I'm not. I didn't get 'Intelligent Qube' either. That one hurt quite a bit, because it didn't come cheap. I think any game that doesn't involve a rocket launcher, is one I'm probably going to have trouble with.

Parappa the Rapper. If it hadn't been for the great music, I would have spent 20 seconds with this game.I was just thinking that the other day. I was playing the demo and well, the whole thing isn't presented as well as it should be. The music is very good, but the timing and well, I just can't hit the right buttons because of their stupid symbols.
That and Frequency. I was doing great on the Tutorial, but when I got to the first level, I sucked so badly it wasn't funny. So far Donkey Konga is the only rhythm based game I can play. Maybe because it isn't button hitting, it's actual instruments. I dunno. I wonder how I'd be at Samba De Amigo.

I think I answered way back at the beginning of this thread, but I'll answer again with some new ones.
Final Fantasy VIII...that weird system of combining the jewels or whatever the fuck the were...ugh...after 8 hours I still didn't get it. Way too overly complicated.
Grand theft Auto 3 and up. I can't stand these games. They are just so fucking boring to watch. Playing them is only slightly better.
Any First person shooter. I can't stand the feeling of lack of control (not being able to see your feet and rest of body). If I can't see my whole character (or behind me), it drives me insane.
Any racing game with 'real' cars. F-zero, mario cart, etc are all fine and dandy, but even the Gran Turismo series bores me to death. Also, it seems only the 'cart' type games seem to have agreeable controls. All the 'real' car games have horrible, horrible controls. I can never get used to them. They frustrate the piss out of me.
Most sports games....Football, basketball, baseball. Except for a couple of old NES games, almost all of these also bore me to death. Then again, watching these games for real is usually just as boring, with some exceptions.
Games like Super Dodge Ball rock tho. :-) I think it's the 'realistic' sports games that I don't like. If I wanted reality, I'd go play football or baseball or whatever.

-Bombastic for PS2. I picked it up for $5 at the last Circuit City clearance sale. It's not a horrible game, but I just don't have the patience to figure it out. It's an advanced puzzle game and it's too advanced for my taste. I gave up when I was fighting the second boss in the story/quest/whatever mode and I realized had been fighting this guy for about 45 minutes and getting nowhere. I plan to get rid of it soon.

Halo- I dunno, it just wasn't all that spectacular to me. Just seemed like any ol' fps to me.
Final Fantasy- Every Final Fantasy game EXCEPT Tactics and 9. Tactics because it is completely different from the other games, and the gameplay is very fun. 9 because I like that they finally went back to the sword and sorcery theme, and it had a pretty cool story from what I saw of it. All of the other FF games I can't stand.
WWF No Mercy- This is a fun wrestling game granted, but I don't think it is a game from the gods as most wrestling fan seems to think. Give me Fire Pro Wrestling D and a few NES wrestling games and I'm good to go.
Grand Theft Auto series- I have Vice City (but I refused to buy it until it went to a cheap price, and it finally went to $17 this summer at walmart) and it is okay. But I can't seem to stay interested in it for very long. I have had the game this since about June of this year and I am still only about 15% finished with it. It is fun to play once every month or two but that is it.

Any Super Mario Bros.
I don't flat out hate on the series. When I beat a Mario game, I'm DONE with it.
When I was at MAGFest last month, I saw someone beat Super Mario Bros. 3 with a crowd of 10 people.
But when I beat Rockman & Forte on Super Famicom with Rockman's game from beginning to end, I only get just a few people.

Wow... I can't believe people put entire genres on their lists. Seems to me like this kind of thinking makes you closed minded to a developer ever making the particular genre worth playing.
My picks are:
Dragon Force - I didn't play it a long time or anything, but I was unable to get into this. It seems like a bad version of Ogre Battle. I couldn't help but long for Ogre Battle instead.
Shenmue - The story wasn't good and there wasn't much game to it. The city was small. I didn't feel like I was exploring a real town. I only played the game like 20 hours or so and I STILL have the entire game map memorized.
Chrono Trigger - Yes, I like the game a little. It was a really great diversion when I was young and I'd consider playing it again. What I don't get is the praise showered on it to this day. The gameplay and chataracters are severly lacking for it to survive in my mind as one of the true greats. I could even look past the poorly developed characters if the game had a lot of strategy and really tough bosses.

i didnt like FF7 that much either, but maybe thats because i had really high expectations and they werent met. also splinter cell. not nearly as good as metal gear games, i just couldnt find a motive to play it. i never thought counter strike was that great, i mean it was just one fps how could it be so much better than all the others. same thinking for halo, but halo 2 is incredible :D
also i have to say i was a huge pokemon fan, and i remember hating the silver and gold ones that came out LOL

Halo and Grand theft Auto Series.
I think Halo is a great FPS, but I can't comprehend how people react to it like the second coming of Christ.
GRand Theft Auto is okay if you like to run around beating the crap out of people, but it gets boring for me after the 3rd beating of a bystander.
I prefer Hit and Run with the Simpsons. Maybe it's because I like the Simpsons...DUH!

First price for games I can't get into goes to:
Tomb Rider (all the games of the series). Played it on the PS and it was damn boring and slow. I maybe gave it 20 minutes and then never played it again.
And second is Master Blaster on the NES: It is not that bad but something is missing for me. Played it a bit but now I've sold it.
Then there is a whole genre I dislike: sports game. It is fun to play a match of soccer or ice hockey but I don't understand why there are people playing for hours just to finish a championship. Well, it's about taste of course so don't feel offended!

ToeJam & Earl on the Mega Drive. I could not, and still don't understand what people's obsession with the first game is...
I just can't see the attraction to this game whatsoever. At least the second and third ones have some sort of structure and point, but the first one just does my head in!!!
And unless it's played in RGB, it just looks abysmal!

Halo and GTA.
They are both dumb games that I would never play. They are all boring. Halo isnt very different from any FPS. I would rather play Goldeneye 007 than Halo, and I do. GTA is just a waste of my time, I have better things to do than run around killing people for no reason. What is there really to accomplish, everyone in the world plays GTA and gets 100%, so why is it such a big deal. The game gets boring after an hour and there are the same things to be done mission after mission, its just boring.

Paper Mario 2
The game's just so easy after playing Mario and Luigi and having tough times at some bosses and enemies. I can't comprehend why some say that PM2 should be 2004 GOTY or RPGOTY
Viewtiful Joe
I tried to like this game, I really did, but just couldn't get into it. It's way too slow and I'm too impatient to wait for enemies to do a certain attack for me to counter-attack.
Star Ocean 3
Characters are too unemotive and the battle system is......meh
Still, every time I don't like a game I play it again a month or two afterwards and most of the time end up really liking it.

I'll second that, including any rhythm game including Samba De Amigo, Parappa the Rapper, those Guitar and Drum games for the PS2. I just don't get it. If you want to dance, go out and dance. Chrono Trigger - Seems so childish compared to FFIV and FFVI. Gameplay is fine, but the story is weak.
Fable - I beat this game down in 10ish hours. Lame.
Quake2 PC - Everybody rode this game's jock hard when I was in college. It was fun, but whatever...
Halo - I really enjoy Halo, but it is not the be-all-end-all that many seem to think it is.
Zelda: A link to the past - I might enjoy this more now, but I hated it when I was 15 or so.
GTA series - Could never get in to these. I kill random people for an hour and have had enough. The missions and plots are blah to me.
Panzer Dragoon Saga - Awesome game. I love it. Not even close to being the greatest RPG of all time.

Halo 2
Looking over the otto award votes and seeing this game just makes me want to say, I don't get it.
I loved the first halo, i thought it was a well rounded fps adventure, but the second downright sucks. After a few days of playing me and my friend beat the game and was incredibly sick of the multiplayer. People consider this to be the holy grail of multiplayer, and I just want to tell them play call of duty. I really just don't get it.

Here we go
Super Mario Bros. 3
There are so many "hidden/secret" pipes, beanstalks, cloud platforms, etc..that the "regular way" to go through the levels is the real secret. Which brings me to my next rant..
How easy is this game? I mean seriously, an average of 1-3 free guys on every level, not to mention the ones you could "earn" by finishing 3 boards, or by matching the pictures, or by getting 100 coins, or by aligning the star, flower, mushroom or by...you get the picture. Before you get to the first boss you're already pushing 20 lives.
And the worst part of all? You could store your power ups! What the fuck was that? At least in the original SMB if you died on world 8 it was somewhat challenging to become super mario again. In this frickin game if you by some miracle die, you can choose from your 3-4 line deep menu of goodies or even just activate a p-wing and fly over the whole damn board. And again not that you would even need to cause the moment you start a new level (after you take 5 steps) there's another question mark waiting to give you a mushroom, flower, or leaf.
This game needed a warp zone straight to the end credits
Thanks for listening. My friends and I argue about this often and lets just say I'm alone in my thinking

THE game that EVERYONE loved--but me--was Goldeneye on the N64. I hated this game as I pretty much don't like FPS games but this game pretty much put the genre and the N64 into the stratoshpere. I hate this game and always have while all my friends still talk about it and play it to this day. I didn't even buy a N64 because of this game (and Mario 64).

Mario 64. Camera sucked, jumping is too hard, and the platforming genre doesn't work in 3_D period.
I couldnt agree with you more. I really dont like Mario 64. Ive given it a second chance on my DS but its even worse now with the touchpad taking the place of the analog stick. -_-

Yes it was easy, but it was also FUN! I'm all for high difficulty in most games, but some of the funnest (is that a word?) NES games are the easiest ie: Kirby, Ducktales, etc.
Oh, and if you want a challenge in SMB3, get the two whistles and warp straight to world 6. Many of the levels in world 7 are particularly challenging unless you are a Mario master.

Some more I don't get:
Mario 64: The first levels were fun but somehow a 3D Mario doesn't fit me.
Zelda (all 3D games): Got the N64 especially for the Ocarina Of Time game but I didn't really enjoy it. At the beginning I was like "woow, great game". But I lost the interest in it very fast. As with Mario I don't like my Zelda games in 3D.
The Metroid games on the Game Cube: I don't want my Metroid being in first-person-view. I don't say those games are bad or cheap made (au contraire), I just don't like their style.

I know we're not criticizing choices here, but... I don't see why people in this thread don't "get" sports games.
People are competitive. Sports are competitive. People play sports games to channel that love of competition. You can't really compare real sports to sports games either. There's no way in real life you're ever going to be able to play as an *entire* football team.
I think when people here are saying "I don't get sports games," most of them mean "I'm not a sports person." Even if you don't like sports. Even if you don't like sports games. It's still pretty easy to see why someone would want to play a sports game.
Sports games are made for sports people. If you don't like the games, it doesn't mean you're missing something. It just means you're the target audience.

Defender - the arcade version. And its sequel Stargate.... an up/down joystick and a thrust button AND a reverse button? What the hell? What the hellin' hell? It wasn't like eight-way/four-way joysticks didn't already exist and they had to invent them... I've always thought it was the sort of thing that led to all those mind-numbingly and pointlessly complex flight simulators for the PC (I forgot to mention crappy, ooo, ooo I hate those too...yuck). Anything that requires waaaaay too many buttons/joysticks/joypads/whatever. Gimmme a joystick and big red button, dammit!!! Man, I wish that didn't sound so dirty...

River Raid for the 2600. Hate it. Totally lousy control set.
