It's not triple-X rated, nor is it really even the 30th event (we probably passed 30 long ago) but it SOUNDS cool and since it's the first one we've done here in awhile it deserves a cool number like XXX. YEAH... TRIPLE F'ING X. It may not have worked for Vin Diesel but you gotta admit, that sounds cool.

For those of you who are new to this event, NJ Classic is a video game playin', competin', tradin' and drinkin' party hosted at Digital Press HQ (PM or email me for directions). Practically every wing of HQ is opened up for these events, from the library where you can play MAME-emulated arcade games and dazzle the masses with your Samba de Amigo skills, to the main screening area where four-player head-to-head competition runs wild, to the "back room" where some of the greatest trades of the past decade have occurred. For pictures from past events, check HERE (http://www.digitpress.com/images/njclassic26/index.htm) or HERE (http://www.digitpress.com/images/njclassic27/index.htm) or even HERE (http://www.digitpress.com/images/njclassic/index.htm).

At "triple x" we'll also have the main floor lounge area open where by request of a regular guest the Atari 5200 will be set up. Get a look at "Bristles", the latest release for this classic system.

There are also freebies aplenty. Make a dent in our stash as we clear space to hunker down for the long winter ahead! Everything from games to consoles to memorabilia here for the taking.

Attendance is free though we encourage guests to bring whatever they like to drink and snack on. We've always got a full fridge and pantry however, so come with just your game face, if you've got one.

WHERE? Digital Press HQ (PM or e-mail me for directions)
WHEN? Saturday, October 23rd
TIME? 3:00pm until "whenever"
RSVP? Appreciated, by October 16th

With the big show season finally over, it's time to enjoy some old-school gamer get-togethers. You know, the kind where people actually get to sit down and enjoy each others' company! Be here for this one before it's TOO LATE!

See you all on the 23rd. GAME ON!

Only 350 miles? Add another zero to that number and you'll see my dilemma.

I would so like to go to one of these things one day. :(

Looks like about 1500 for me, according to Mapquest.

The disadvantage of a "global Internet" is realized when figuring out how many hours it would take to drive from Oklahoma to New Jersey. :/

Sure, why not? We've played it here before. Actually it's gotten kinda "old" but if the kids are still interested in it, we can break it out for old times sake.

Just e-mail me and I'll send you the directions.

You know, that's not a bad idea... better still would be if we could do a four player game here and with four others online... what supports that? Sports game, maybe?

Also we've had the webcam on for the last two events but it's fixed in the game room... if anyone has a wireless webcam we could give it a better vantage point!

Looks like there are going to be quite a few new faces at this event, including lots from out of town (and out of state). If you haven't received a local hotels e-mail from me please let me know.

Remember to bring trade stuff! You'll find that the trading and the quality of goods as well as the actual deals themselves are better than you'll find just about anywhere else. The "core group" comes with stuff they very much want to turn around into the hands of other collectors. I've made deals that most people would call silly (and have been on either side of such deals).

With this turnout I'm going to have to incorporate an "official" tournament or two with giveaways.

To be continued!

By the way, if you bought magnets from me waaaaay back at NAVA and they fell apart, please bring them with you. I will attempt to fix them or give you a suitable replacement. Not right there, mind you. I have to do that stuff at home. And please nobody else ask me what kind of magnets, because I won't have time to make any before then.

But, just in case you were wondering what they looked like, the most k-rad Kuros!

That would be quite a haul - if you're ever serious about it I can put you up for the night. The inn is full for this go-round!

We've also had people travel as far as from Ohio (Sniderman) and this event has folks from Maine, Delaware, and Virginia. Yep, they comes from miles around.

I'm really looking forward to this get-together. Getting to talk to, game, and trade with people like human beings is a welcome change from the robotic worker bee I feel like at CGE.

If you can make it to Massapequa LI, I can always use a driving buddy (or two)...also, I have plenty of space so you can crash at my place as we will get back pretty late. Anyway, let me know soon if anyone is interested and we can try and work something out.

Well if I was going from home (South Jersey) it would take like 2 hours...from where I'm staying in Long Island its about 1 1/2 hours away. Got the directions printed up, but I have no idea where I'm going really. Couple that with the fact that I'm horrible with directions, I would really like someone to go with, but I'll manage.

Save your money for the trade room - or for side bets on the evening's tournaments! Food is always on the house. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks, there can never be too much of that, but we've got the bases covered - no "collection" needed.

I'm really excited about this coming weekend too. We've got four bongo sets for Donkey Konga and each room's TV's will have different systems running. Lots and lots of goodies to give away too - I've already had someone drop a box of goods off here to give away on Saturday.

Game on, indeed.

Fantastic. My only exposure to the various music/rhythm games has been at the NJ Classics I've been to, and I 've loved them all so far.

Yesterday I was in a Best Buy and they had a demo set-up running Donkey Konga with some kid, maybe 13 or 14 years old, on the bongos. It looked phenomenal, and just might be what gets me to finally break down and get a Gamecube after the holidays.

I can't wait to try it out this weekend!

4 player Donkey Konga?!? *smiles* This weekend sounds like it gonna be a great time!

On the beverage front, whats needed/preferred, I'd like to bring something....

Also, I have a REAL common game request for attendees....I'm looking for a SNES Super Mario World and a SNES Super Mario All Stars, 1 has been misplaced and the other was in rough condition, half dead. If anyone has extra, I'll buy/trade it, loose is fine....seperate carts or the combo cart....I just like them for playing now and again

I just can't bring myself to pay ebay prices plus shipping on them to replace them, and any other flea market I've seen it in, thinks, hey theres four games on here $$$$$ LOL :)

I'm also interested in Intellivision games (trying to fill out that set)

Damn, its only monday!! LOL
