The Trance Vibrator also works with Disaster Report.

Can you confirm this for the US release? I know it works with the Japanese version, but have not read that anyone has specifically used the Trance Vibrator on a US PS2 with a US copy of Disaster report.

I hope it does work, 'cause I'm a gaming peripheral freak!
I will test this out with my unmodded U.S. PS2 running the U.S. release version of Disaster report. PM me to remind me if I forget to report back here in a timely fashion. :)

I am interested to hear what you find out about this too, I just bought a PS2 copy for $50, used in good condition. :D If someone else knows the answer to this for sure, let us know...

Ok

Then I am not going to mention my ASCII trance vibrator..

That only gets me in trouble anyway..

Now we're just going off on tangents.

Tangents, Trance Vibrators -- hey, whatever gets you off.

Anyway, I return here to say:

(1) REZ IS NOT BEING RE-RELEASED At least, it sure doesn't look like it at this time. However, I fully expect a number of puddingbrains to chime in here saying "Cool! :) I always wanted that game, but it's too expensive on ebay :( "

(2) I tried the Trance Vibrator in Disaster Report (U.S. version playing in a U.S. PS2), and it didn't even twitch. At least, not during the time that I was playing through it. I only played to the restaurant on the bridge, however, so it's possible (although I think it unlikely) that the Trance Vibrator doesn't kick in until later in the game.

(3) I think that this thread would be a better place to discuss the possible compatibility of the Trance Vibrator with various PS2 games:

Rez will not be re-released. At least not right now. Maybe it will have to get so out of control that Atari will secure the rights, and then release it years later! After the whole Playstation DBZ re-release, I guess it could possibly happen.

And thank you very much for ensuring that it lives for yet a few more posts.

Speaking of Rez, why is it that this game is so hard to find? Maybe a better question is why didn't it sell much better than it did when it was originally relseased. Although it may not have been very well known originally everything I read indicates that it was a very fun game. So what kept it from selling via word of mouth kind of like Katamari Damacy did?

Still no word on if the trance vibrator works with the US version of REZ on a US system? Would still like to know...

It works fine. I have yet to try it with Space Channel 5 Special Edition though.

I just checked eBay to see what the whole deal was. I didn't believe it when you guys said it went for a shitload. Damn! $125?? WHAT THE HELL? I really want to try this damn game, but my GOD! What the hell is with eBay people?

I'm just gonna pretend the game sucks ass, then I won't want it so much...

If you really want it that bad, you can always mod-chip your PS2 so i can play imports and play the PAL version. That one is far easier to get (and doesn't cost you an arm and a leg). In my opinion the game is a little overrated, but for a shooter it is pretty ok. I don't play it that often, but every once in a while it gives me some 15 minutes of fun...

REALLY?! It's going for $125?! I see them at my local Gamestop from time to time for $40 or so. I picked up my copy for $40 when Hollywood Video was selling currently rentable games for top dollar. (before Gamecrazy - was damn glad to find a copy and it hadn't even been rented out yet) Hmm... I might have to go pick up those copies and cash out.

It didn't sell great gobs upon its original release because it didn't get rave reviews in the States (as did Katamari), and it wasn't budget-priced (as was Katamari).

When I asked my PR contact at SEGA a few months back about a re-release, he confirmed it was happening. He was apparently wrong, but whether SEGA changed its mind or he was just wishfully thinking, I can't yet say.

If only people would buy the game when it's released. Honestly, I think it's kind of foolish to even think of suddenly getting a game after hearing that it's rare..

Most aren't after it because it's rare but instead because it's a great game that many people simply didn't have a chance to play.

I agree and disagree. If rarity alone is the impetus, then it's lame. However if I hear a game is good and might disappear from shelves, that's incentive enough for me. 'Cause most of the time I figure all of today's games are gonna still be there when I'm ready to buy 'em, so why not wait for prices to drop?

In the case of Rez that definitely didn't happen. I bought mine at TRU before this thread ever started, and paid full price for it even though it was a year old or whatever (something I never do).

According to the latest PSM the "rerelease" has already happened, sort of. It wasn't a rerelease, but Sega had leftover stock in their warehouses that they shipped out some time in the last year and supposedly that was that...
