I played alot of N64 during my time since it's release, probably due to the fact it was the easiet to get multiplayer games going faster then PSX games.
I even played ports from PSX, and I still enjoy it to death now and then...
so tell me, and a note to the mods, if this has been already posted else where, please inform me or move the post else where.
I never hear many good things about the 64 on DP, so I figured, hey you guys have to be out there to hear me out.
N64 doesnt get a lot of love anywhere. Its too bad, I fuckin love my n64.

You can't accuse me of not showing any love for the N64. :) I try to always give it the underappreciated console some love when appropriate. I probably play the N64 more consistently than most of my consoles, and I'm always very interested in adding more games to my collection, especially cool imports. It's also what we ALWAYS go to for multiplayer games. Nothing beats a night of 4-player Mario Kart 64. :)
So, to get to some favorites:
Banjo-Kazooie
Banjo-Tooie

Blast Corps
Body Harvest

I'll admit that I'm a little jaded when it comes to the N64. Then again, Earthbound 64 was never released and that was the reason I bought the system
That having been said, there were some games that I loved. Wave Race was probably the other main reason I bought one, and it was great. I also really liked:
Goldeneye
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Perfect Dark
Robotron 64
As stupid as this may sound, I really want to check out Pokemon Snap after reading a review about it the other day...

from my standpoint, i'd say the N64 is possibly one of the (if not the most) underrated systems.
GoldenEye helped reinvent First Person Shooters
WaveRace 64 and Pilotwings 64 were games that seemed so advanced that I could never have imagine playing them in my lifetime
Also... Nintendo hanging on to the cartridge idea for so long was great. there is just something about cartridges i am going to miss. Not necessarily in the game play, but in the respect of collecting carts compared to discs'.
and Mario 64..... Well lets just say that Mario 64 is (to me) the best game ever made.... ever.

You seem to have accidently included Quest 64 on that list, Super_Ghouls_'N'_Ghosts. It must have snuck over from the list of Games That Make Me Want To Dig Out My Eyes With A Rusty Spork.
As for good N64 games, I always though Space Station Silicon Valley was greatly underappreciated. All I remember now is solving pizzles by possessing the bodies of dead sheep.

I'm sorry, but I enjoyed it, I know many didn't...but being the first RPG on the N64...you had to give it a nudge, some of the games I listed are not good...some would consider crap...but to me, it was fun.
As for you and everyone else, Im happy to see there is some love for 64. Keep it rolling please. :)

How could anyone hate the last true cart based system?? Its fine by me because the prices are dropping fast on carts and I have picked up a ton lately.
I first bought the system and Goldeneye at college. My roomate and I must have played it for a month straight trying to unlock all the items and extra missions. It is still one of my favorites of all time. I have also just recently been playing Banjo-Kazooie & Mario 64 and can't believe how good they are. Especially Mario 64 being a launch title. Also a ton of other games that have already been mentioned.
I just wonder if any of these so called haters of N64 have given it a real shot or just condemned it from the start??
I dare anyone who hates this system to play at least 7-10 games from that list and say they did not enjoy any of them.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (1st was good, but stay away from the others lol)
Disagree. The first AND second were both awesome. The third was alright, and Rage Wars should be avoided like the plague.

I am really starting to think that the N64 will be my next system to collect for - the games are cheap, the total number of games released pretty low (~300), and I love collecting cart based games. There is just something about collecting cd based games I just can't get into. So I figure between the SNES and N64 I have the whole 2d to 3d transition period covered :)
So far - my favorite N64 game is Mario Golf. Now they have it for every nintendo system, but before - when nobody really played it - it was fun to get friends hooked. I know 2 people who ended up buying a cheap N64 just to play mario golf.

You know, you're right. Turok 2: Seeds of Evil was pretty damn good (Just played it last night)
Rage Wars is a sad site...but I need to find 3 someday to see what you mean

I've only got a couple that I've liked:
(only counting exclusive titles)
Mischief makers
Yoshi's Story
Star Soldier
harvest Moon
Pokemon Snap
All in all, I think it was a pretty poor system.
It got less 3rd party support than the GC is getting now.
and that controller? Ugh.

You know, I dont know why people complain about the controller so much, the only problem I had with it is the joystick wearing out so easily (which can be easily fixed or replaced today)...yet during all the years I have had an N64, my controller still works like a charm...but I think it's due to mistreatment of the controller from other users....but who knows..I've heard many different stories.
Yet it was comfortable to me in many situations for Action/Adventure or FPS games.
I have pondered over a redesign of what would have been a better more comfortable feel for those who did not like it.
Like a tighter stick perhaps...yet the Z, L, R, and other 6 I wouldn't change. Those C buttons came in handy alot (Like Mortal Kombat Trilogy or Zelda OoT when playing the Orcarina)
As for the size, I would have to say it needed to be smaller, because it was always a pain to reach for the D-pad in some games

I hate to clobber a good topic but this one's already been in progress in the "Classic Discussions" forum. That thread is linked to several places on the site as well so I encourage you to add your opinions there!
