Here is the Cage Match of all time. Let the best one win. I will go with Tengen for this. Nintendo's version had music and graphics in a HUGE way, and they nearly topple tengen, but the fluid gameplay and variety of options make Tengen better. The very Russian theme is very cool too.

Which is the Best??

Nintento cuz its got Samus playing a fiddle (and plus Samus makes everything better)

LOL

It was just a month ago that I picked up a loose GB Tetris cart, and I haven't even played the thing yet. THAT is the system Tetris was supposed to be killer app for.

Tengen.. The fact that it's better AND like 100k smaller is a credit to the programmers.

Since its still Tetris either way, I chose the Nintendo version because of the music, which was so good that they later decided to use in in the Nutcracker Suite.

I still think that the absolute best version of Tetris is the first GB version.

but if I had to, I'd vote for Tengen, but I dont, so I wont. Meh!

Tengen. The two player mode and better music make it much better than the Nintendo version.

I voted for Tengen. However, Tengen's would have been at least 30% better if the blocks showed the individual squares they were made up by. Sometimes it was difficult to line stuff up because of that.

I definitely put WAY more hours into GB tetris tho...it's sort of a tie with the Tengen version for me.

Wow Tengen is still holding Nintendo down by 3 to 1. Even though Tengen is so much better, I figured this would be a closer poll.

much like nintendo corporation themselves, the nintendo version of tetris is an arrogant piece of crap.

Tengen all the way.

Ack!

No way, that's the beauty of the REAL Tetris (the Tengen one).

I'm surprised people voted the Nintendo version on this one. I always thought that two player side-by-side that's curiously missing in the Nintendo version sealed it easily for Tengen.

that, and the vs. the nes feature, does it.

I like the Tengen version better for the two player aspect, but it's much too easy. On the Nintendo one it is extremely difficult to get 200 lines. On the Tengen version, it's quite easy to get hundreds of lines. I usually am up in the 500's or 600's before I eventually get bored and turn it off. I don't know if Tetris's creator originally intended it to be challenging or not, but I enjoy the Nintendo version if I'm playing alone, just for the challenge factor.

Nintendo.

I like the in game layout better.I'm gonna play Devil's Advocate here and agree. Nintendo's version looks much nicer, less DOS-like and the music is more memorable. Screw Tengen's sucky version.

Neither. The Tetris featured on the 116-in-one cart on the NES blows them both away.

For the exact reason above, I'm floored that the Nintendo version currently has 15 votes. The Tengen version is way better -- there is a reason it holds its price even though it isn't that rare. I picked up a copy just to play co-op with my wife :)

I grew up with the Nintendo version, but if I didn't vote Tengen for the two player I just wouldn't feel right. Tengen wins for 2 player.. everything else I like Nintendo's version.

Jasoco

Ditto. Tengen ONLY has Two-player over Nintendo. Everything else, Nintendo wins hands down. And since I don't like playing games with people, I vote for the best version in my eyes, Nintendo's kick-ass beautiful version.

Tengen, since it has more modes, although the Nintendo version is also a great port.

I'm also going to throw my hat into the Nintendo ring.

The Tengen version just doesn't feel right - a successful puzzle game (at least in my opinion) *must*, and I repeat, *must* have superb play control, perhaps even more so than any other gaming genre. The Nintendo verison feels as smooth and responsive as any of their other puzzle games - Dr. Mario, Wario's Woods, etc. The Tengen version feels clunky to me, almost stiff in comparison to the Nintendo version. It just doesn't work - I've played flash versions of Tetris that feel more natural to play.

And besides that, Song C on the Nintendo version of Tetris is by far one of the greatest songs to grace a video game soundtrack *ever*.
