View Full Version : Is There a Game You Canīt Get Tired Of?

Iīd say Sonic 2. I love the graphics, music and speed so much I could play it for ages and not get tired of it.
Same with River City Ransom, there are so much things to do, and beating the crap out of everyone never gets old.
And maybe Marble Madness, Super Mario Kart and few others

For Me it would be Cruisin' Exotica, Tetris, Tempest 2000, Zelda II and Battletoads and Tekken 3, I can play all of those games forever.

I try not to wear out games. It's easy to do, but I've found that getting rid of the "progress" mindset to some degree helps, and think about doing things better a second time around. This needs an example to be clear, and I have one! I've been playing DOOM III a bit the last few days, and in the power processing plant (with conveyors and such) I played through its entirety twice, and replayed bits a few times. I didn't get overly annoyed at doing things a second time and got to see some things I wouldn't have seen otherwise. I turned on the whatchamacallit system that makes you sprint jump a few times (ugh) and then sprint jump past rotating drums/poles discharging static electricity, while you're being assaulted by Imps (UGH!), and I know I don't want to do all that again...but hey, done it.
I really like story-based games the most, but it seems that despite my attempts not to overplay them, they DO get old. I wouldn't say I've worn out Zelda: Ocarina of Time, because I haven't played it in a few years. Thankfully "the mood" carries me most of the way :D
Other picks...I think I've worn out Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow a bit, but from here on out (hard mode) it's catching a dozen souls or so, catching multiple souls, leveling up, trying to get the proton gun again...yeah.
I've always got a soft spot for Space Harrier type games, and Burning Force is right up there.
I love Ninja Spirit - unfortunately I recorded the level one music from the arcade version last night and that's pretty much destroyed the music in the GB and especially PC-Engine versions for me LOL

Well, I know that I COULD get tired if I play them too much, so I usually wait a bit to replay them. Last time I finished RCR was in July, and Iīm waiting until November to keep things fresh.

Super Mario 1 and 3, Arkanoid, Krazy Kreatures. All for the NES, and the latter of the 4 is made by AVE (boot cart... great game!)
I honestly can't seem to tire of Phantasy Star Online (played entirely offline) on my Cube. I played it online on my DC since it's launch as well. Sure, I give it a rest every now and then.....but the appeal still lasts.
Other choices? FFX and Champions Of Norrath on PS2......Domark's Formula One on Genny.

ridge racer 4.
excellent presentation, graphics, music, flawless control, EXCELLENT 2 player mode, cool art direction on the cars (lots of inspiration drawn from 60's GP/sports cars), etc. etc.
damn, i need another copy of that game. nothing spun around in my PS more than that game. it was one of those rare things where everything just gels to make a perfect experience (without being 40 hours long).

There are a few.
Most of them are old NES titles. But if I had to choose just one...

It's still the best baseball game that has ever been released.

Many NES games by the big 3 publishers (Nintendo, Konami, Capcom)
I second that in a heartbeat.
Also, more precisely, I never get tired of Tetris, Street Fighter 2010 (yup, you read right), F-Zero X and, last but definitely not least, Baseball Stars.
One more retro one....
I recently found a copy of Crystalis (with instructions, no box) and finally popped it in tonight. The save feature still works!!! I have a feeling that I'm going to name this one as my favorite NES game thus far.

Excellent topic *moves to the "classic" forum*
Almost every system has a game like this for me. The first one that comes to mind is Streets of Rage (any version, really), I can play a level or two or even the whole game, anytime, anywhere. Others are Tempest 2000 (and its dark brother, Tempest X), GTA3 (and its successors), Bomberman (series), Beach Spikers, and it seems now Burnout 3 will join that elite group :)

Metroid for the SNES - I can beat this in 1 sitting.. love this game.
Final Fantasy 3(6) - I think this game has one of the best openings ever in FF history.
Ico - enough said.
Grand Theft Auto - from 1 on my PC to San Andreas on my PS2. I love seeing how long I can avoid the cops.
Alpha Centauri - My wife hates it when I play this game. Way too addictive. Nothing like defending against a Hive invasion, getting airpower, and blowing them into the stone age.
Kid Icarus - if I still had a copy, I know I would play this almost non-stop.

I own Baldur's Gate for all 3 consoles (PS2, GC & XBOX). I finished it for the PS2 playing as the fighter. I am currently playing it on GC as a sorceress. When I'm done I'll probably play it on the XBOX as the archer. I love hack 'n slash.
Another one I can't stop playing is Nectaris/Military Madness. I have Military Madness for the TG16, Neo Nectaris for the PC-Engine/TG16 Super CD and Nectaris Military Madness for the PSX. I can play that game anytime.

I'm right there with you on these. In fact, its time to play them all again.
Other than that:
Adventure (2600)
Robotron
Time Pilot
Crazy Climber
And, believe it or not, Shenmue. I just wish Ryo could go into a videogame store and *buy* videogames. The arcade is cool, I just wish it were bigger. I think I'm more fascinated with the IDEA behind the game than the actual game itself. But I keep putting it in my Dreamcast every few months, go figure.

Un... Freaking... Believeable. I thought I'd be the only one for whom Civ came to mind (since this is such a console centric place...) :)
There are lots of games I never tire of (like all puzzle games), but Civ 2 I've *easily* logged the most hours on and yet I'll always go back and start another game.
And what Daria says about time flying is *absolutely* true. I've never heard of a Civ player who hasn't gone through it :)
