Well, here is a TV show that I have been hoping would make it out on DVD, but really didn;t think that it would actually make it ou...

Starcade was a game show that ran for two seasons in the early '80s, where contestants competed by answering trivia questions about video games to earn the right to play the coin-ops they were best at, and then by playing the games and trying to score the most points. The show aired on television stations across the USA, generally in a Saturday morning or early afternoon time slot. It featured the hottest video games of that time.

The series which was hosted by Mark Richards during its first year, and then veteran game show host Geoff Edwards for its second year. Here's a bit of trivia: none other than Alex Trebek (Jeopardy) was the host for the second, never-aired pilot of the series. But the games are the real stars of Starcade.

Wish they would release a more complete DVD, than just five shows.

I wish they had more than a few episodes. Maybe they cannot track them all down. Still I may buy one as a gift for my brother

Nice! I remember seeing episodes were Gyruss and Time Pilot were played.

I'd really like to see Nick Arcade get a DVD. That would kick ass.

5 episodes for $20? Er...no. Not while it's airing on GTV/TechTV/whatever they named themselves. I'm assuming someone's recording them? I once had a few tapes from GTV airings that I wish I had held onto. About 30 episodes. Phoo.

Now those t-shirts, THOSE are nice and worth $17 in my opinion.

Why on earth would they release such a half-assed set. 5 episodes? Screw that. A complete collection would have shot to my top 10 list of cheap gifts for myself and to give to friends. Bummer. I can probably find 5 episodes on TV on any given day.

I went looking for this the other day, I seen a link through Google that had Starcade DVD listed as 20.00. I was ecstatic, I was thinking, wow! A whole season, or even the whole collection, 20.00!

Then I clicked on the link

I saw that it was only 5 episodes.

I cut the computer off and cried myself to sleep that night.

G4XYZ (whatever ^^) stopped airing Starcade around this time last year.
