I was just thinking - Mario games come nearly every month or two now, but a new Sonic games aren't as frequent...

In the last six years we've only really had a handful of "New" Sonic games:
Sonic Adventure (DC / GameCube)
Sonic Adventure II (DC / GameCube)
Sonic Heroes (GameCube / PS2 / Xbox)
Sonic Advance (GBA)
Sonic Advance II (GBA)
Sonic Advance III (GBA)
Sonic Battle (GBA)
Sonic N (Ngage)
Sonic Shuffle (DC)

any others tend to be re-releases of old games from previous consoles... In fact, three of the four Sonic games on the GameCube have been re-releases!

So what's Sonic Team and Sega up to? Are they making a new Sonic game / games?

If they are, then what would the next Sonic game most likely be? (Not including any re-release compilation disc)

Oh, I missed the option for "garbage."

you could apply that to the next Megaman game too

Oh yeah, and how's that straight port of Aria of Sorrow going, Iga? LOL

Oh well. I'm looking forward to the next Dino Crisis, if there could possibly be one without Mikami...it'll be interesting to see how the games are done without him.

Yes, I believe it only got a Japanese release though. As is often the case! Maybe I briefly got confused with Sonic Drift... Oh well...

I agree - I think they came close to it with Sonic Adventure... But if they done one for the GBA in the style of Mario RPG, then that would be really sweet!

I had hoped that they would expand on what they did with Sonic Adventure and make Sonic Adventure II more RPG like, but I wasn't impressed with the overall outcome of that game...

Well it depends what you call a "Mario" game, some people call a "Mario" game a game that features Mario - fair enough, and this accounts for 80% of Nintendo's yearly offerings. But as far as new, original games that are true to the platforming nature of Mario's roots - or the Mario games most of us enjoy most - there's been about 3 in the last 10 years. :( If Nintendo would put someone else in Mario Tennis, Party, Golf, Baseball it would make reality a lot clearer - we really don't see a new Mario game as often as we think we do.

But to answer the question, Sonic will probably appear in another shitty 3D platformer - like he has the last few times. *plugs in Genesis and remembers the good 'ol days*

I'm personally hoping it'll be 'Sonic Apocalypse: The Fall of Sonic's Buddies'.

Sonic Team need to make a god damn sequel to Knuckles Chaotix. DO IT. It was great that the Chaotix team appeared in Sonic Heroes.

Either that or Sonic Shuffle II or Sonic RPG. Or... all of the above. ^^;

I voted Sonic Advance IV.. But come to think about it, i know nintendo have said the DS is a "third pillar" but, it will replace the GBA eventually, so the next Sonic outing hopefully will be an innovative DS game..

Joe. :)

Funny you should say that - I think something springs to mind about a Sonic DS game... <picks brain for a moment>

Isn't there some sort of game being developed where you use the bottom touch pad to make Sonic run faster? The more you rub, the faster he runs...??? Something like that I believe...

I was SERIOUSLY disappointed by Sonic Heroes. I thought it would finally address the problems of the Adventure series, and while it did improve on some points, it just felt the same.
I just want them to make a SONIC game. No other characters. No "teams". Maybe have Tails tag along like he did in Sonic 2, but that's it. I'm getting sick of playing through the same game six times just to unlock the final ending.
I also think Sonic Team needs to be schooled on how to make a 3-D camera system NOT suck. Have Miyamoto hold a class or something for a week that they can attend.

Perhaps there should just be a new Sonic Collection with all the stuff they were too lazy to put in before. (Sonic Arcade, Sonic Championship, Sonic CD, etc.)

Actually, it would just be pretty cool just to have the non-prototype Sonic Arcade playable on MAME.

Sometimes I feel like a class all my own. I LOVED...

Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Sonic Heroes
Sonic R

And I'd love to see more of these!

I voted Sonic Heroes 2...bought the first one gamecube on release day and bought the PC version last week on release day. :)

He's clearly confused with Sonic Drift 2, because Sonic R never got a sequel.

You haven't uhh, ever played a sonic game, have you? Sonic R II is a figment of your imagination, Sonic Advance and Sonic N are the same thing, and besides, this sonic game is destined to be crap, if it's made by the same people.

Anyone else up for "Sonic the Hedgehog 4"? This is what I'd like to see, a two dimensional Sonic game, but with 3D graphics, in the manner of say Gradius V (if only to appeal to the masses more). Really sophisticated Metal Slug style 2d graphics would be cool too.

It seems lately that we see a bunch of sequels to relatively new titles, but not to classics like Mario or Soinic. Where is "Super Mario Bros. 4?"

You must have played the Xbox version, bacause the Gamecube version has better cameras then any other 3-D game I have played (Excluding Zelda 64).

Japanese subtitle for Super Mario World has "Super Mario Bros. 4" on the box art

Where is Marioworld 3 more like it! Yoshi's Island can't honestly be classed as a suitable sequel for Marioworld!!!

Yes, I admit, I may have got a little confuzzled about the whole Sonic R thing. I'll edit the poll to make it Sonic R II if it makes peeps happy.

No, you just got lucky. The camera code is the same in all three versions.

I'm with you. I've heard the next Sonic games will be for the DS and PSP. I liked Sonic Heros a lot but it had flaws. I would love for Sonic Team to tighten up the Sonic Heros gameplay and correct all the flaws. Also, something I want more than anything else, a Sonic the Hedghog 3D platformer starring Sonic only. I like Tails and Cream the Rabbit but I wish Sonic could be by himself. Sonics portions of the Adventure series are amazing. Esp. the first Adventure game. The GBA Sonic titles are great too, esp. Sonic Advance 2. Sonic is great!

THE ONE, THE ONLY- RCM

Sonic Team said they're done with Sonic Adventure, and I'll doubt they'll make another SS, considering how the first one went LOL

next US game will either be advance, DS, or the eyeoty game
