thanks for the info.
i added an previously unknown 2-game pack to the database
"Wer wird Millionär / Wer wird Millionär: 2. Edition"
which i bought at a local flea yesterday. At the moment no english counterpart is known of.
I think that may be: who wants to be a millionaire / 2 although im not 100% sure by the looks it might be
tinsair
04-30-2005, 09:14 AM
We know it's Who Wants to be a Millionaire? but what we are trying to establish is if that double pack was released elsewhere like UK, Spain & France etc. or if it was just a German speaking countries release.
The_EniGma
04-30-2005, 10:05 AM
I know in the UK they were released seperatly IIRC.

thanks for your data.
Are you sure you have a Breath of Fire II and a Dino Crisis 1 with 2 cd's each?

Yeah I found it on some Italian shopping site, wasn't positive about it's release, but obviously it must now exist as AtariBuff ordered a copy! lemme give you the price for being a "master detective" :D
I also found "Grande Fratello" on a few shopping sites after Tinsair's discovery but no way to order it from there (my italian is loosy BTW) - i tried mailing them but got no response. A few days ago a copy surfaced on eBay Italy and after a quick correspondence the game was mine on paper. It really will be exciting when I hold this one in my hands a few days from now.
I'm vacationing in Italy later this year and will keep an eye open there if I find it regularely in stores.
tinsair

I bet that's the only copy you will see on ebay for months.

Folks, the latest release of the PS1 PAL database has been sent to Joe. 1425 different releases (without any re-releases) @_@ :D :D :D
The updated version should be online as soon as Joe has the time to upload it. We have plenty of new data added, so enjoy you PAL collectors ;)

do you mean sales numbers, release dates or both?? release dates: check the file i send our finnish friend (davidleeroth) a few month back, it contains release dates, although some of them may have been postponed, an earlier release is very unlikely though, other than that, check mags from back then
for sales numbers: i'll try my best and see if i can get the MM numbers, although those would only be >=1996

we only need SLES/SCES numbers now for games listed in the other thread opened by Tinsair.
We have them for ALL other english releases (check the DP Online rarity Guide) - there are still some french/german/dutch/italian country variations missing but we're also narrowing these down . ;)

I've got a request - can you PS1 experts here confirm if the following PAL games (usually) fetch more than €10 on ebay? :)
Nope. I've paid EUR 9.- for my copy of Diablo on eBay and i've seen them go cheaper (even as low as EUR 5,- for a complete game. I paid more because the copy i got was in perfect condition). Same goes for Alundra and Time Crisis: Project Titan. All the other titles i don't know. Except for the Bomberman game, which always seems to go for a lot (but bomberman 0wnz big time)
But i wouldn't consider myself an PS1 expert though...
AtariBuff
05-13-2005, 08:06 AM
there are several games that bring definitely maybe more then a tenner ;)
Azure Dreams, Bomberman (NOT White Label re-release), Bubble Bobble & Rainbow Islands (just to state the first three)
If you have those for sale please send me a PM ;)
robotriot
05-13-2005, 11:27 AM
Nope, I don't have them. To be honest, I'm just interested in making a profit, because our local gamestore has quite a selection of PS1 games all for 9.99, and I don't think they have much of a clue which games could be sold for more and which don't, so I'll watch out if any of the games on the list appear in their store ;) Yes I'm a bad boy *goes to sit in a corner*

So, back from vacation :) :(
time to start working :D
Wing Over is listed being "Packaged with a "Directory of planes" chart" - there are 28 different planes printed on the back of the front inlay - is that the beformenioned chart? If so, then no need to mention it in the guide as it's not a seperate sheet/booklet/whatever ;)
tinsair
05-31-2005, 01:56 PM
No the game has a seperate sheet that unfolds with planes & info on it :).

I guess I'm lucky then that my Vib Ribbon had the "moves poster" included :D

I have yet to see Dual Masters: Sempai Legends (Konami), Shoot (Phoenix Games) and Kids Playground (Phoenix Games). Have they been released or scrapped?
What do you think AtariBuff, have you had trouble finding these games too?
hydr0x
07-23-2005, 12:04 PM
yeah haven't seen Sempai Legends too, you should call/mail EB Games and ask them about it, i know they advertised it "back then"
AtariBuff

I have none of the three but I'm in contact because of Shoot & Kids Playground already. ;)

Atari published Sempai Legends for GBA but I don't see anything about PS version on their site.
Haven't seen the other two either but gotta love Phoenix for all that crap they keep pushing out. LOL

davidleeroth
07-26-2005, 05:26 AM
Nope. I've had Destructo on my favorite searches in eBay forever but only getting e-mails for Destructo 2. But even the Phoenix's page talks about Destructo and shows the pic of the D2's cover.
AtariBuff
07-26-2005, 05:57 AM
Thought so. If no one can prove the existance of this title anytime soon it will be deleted and given "rumor mill" status.
AtariBuff
07-26-2005, 06:03 AM
The same goes for SPACE RIDER. I will also contact my source inside Phoenix for more details. Looks like Shoot was indeed released in July but I have to wait for the official statement. Kids Playground is still not officially available (August).
@Hydr0x
did you hear something about the "Shoot" release by Phoenix?
hydr0x
07-26-2005, 08:19 AM
nope, but i've been on holiday since a week so that doesn't mean shit. We usually don't carry Phoenix PSOne games though :( i'll check when i come back (around august 19th). I'm attending this years Games Convention on Business Day (likely), if i stumble across an Atari guy i'll ask about Sempai LOL
AtariBuff

Sempai is listed on Amazon.co.uk and states a delivery between 1 to 2 weeks. I ordered it and see what happens

The umlaut here got lost in translation it seems ;) Should be "für" of course.
Also, the Broken Sword games should have their "aka" fields filled with the French and German titles so that they're searchable, right now you can only search by the English title.
The publisher field got cut off here: http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=29474

when i would have to decide alone, ALL rumor mill titles for PAL PS1 would get the axe since i'm ***very*** sure that not one of them got released. i know that there was working beta code for Molineux's Light & Dark but thats it.
We will add the info to the Broken Sword series - thanks for pointing this out.
The publisher field got cut off by DP's Joe himself because it won't fit in the printed version of the guide else.
Overall many thanks for your findings - it's good to see people care about the work :)

But isn't that exactly what the Rumor Mill is for? Titles that were started, proposed or rumoured but never actually released?
AtariBuff

yeah, but what's the purpose when they weren't released for sure??? The rumor was false - puff...
The Rumor Mill should only list games when it's unknown if they saw the light of day. If not, delete it from the Rumor Mill and file it under "someone's wishful thinking".

I see what you're saying, but until there's a "wishful thinking" category, the Rumor Mill is the best place for them - just look at the RM entries for any other system. And besides, there's always the hope that there could be unfinished builds or alphas/betas out there somewhere...

I see what you're saying, but protos that saw the light of day somehow need to be listed in the "Prototype" section not in the RM ;)
As you can see we actually maintain the RM section for the PAL PS1, so all is not lost :) - the error with "Alarm für Cobra" happened when our excel sheet was added/converted into the online guide and the software isn't aware of the existance of öüäÖÜÄ ;)
anagrama
08-23-2005, 11:47 AM
Yeah, naturally they should be moved to 'Protos & One-of-a-kinds" if anything does surface, but it's nice to be able to see what *might* still be out there somewhere.
Maybe the problem could best be solved by changing the category title to "Rumor Mill & Pipe-Dreams" or similar?
hydr0x
08-23-2005, 02:01 PM
anagrama is right, Rumor Mill IS used for every game that was in dev but wasn't released. What else do you want to fit in there?? there are no actual "rumor" titles, we KNOW what got released and what not, it's not a "release-rumor", but a "proto-rumor" category ;)
slapdash
08-24-2005, 05:44 PM
The rumor mill is for anything essentially announced, but not proved to exist in any form. A prototype would get moved, but there has to be proof that the prototype exists.
Harder to decide is when ROMs get out -- does that count as a prototype or not? It obviously exists, but one could make a case that a prototype may not (anymore/in-reality-as-opposed-to-virtuality). Where should we list these?

I've wondered about that myself - to err on the safe side, I've left them in the Rumor Mill if a proto can't be 100% confirmed.

I know that he is right and for what the rumor mill stands but most of the PAL rumor mill games have absolutely no backing that the even WERE under development. Please point me to the article/press release/rumor that "Alarm für Cobra 11" was under development. Anyone?
What I do want to say is that the Rumor Mill has my very least attention as the official PAL releases (still) need a huge amount of time/workforce (with many country variations being added at this time).
Maybe I even can make the announcement of a previously unknown release sometimes next week when all works out :D
hydr0x
08-25-2005, 06:30 AM
well, how did you learn about "Alarm für Cobra 11" then if you don't know if it was under dev??? usually the rumor mill stuff comes from previews, ects/e3/gdc/gc/... reports and so on
@rom topic
that's a difficult topic indeed. I have this problem with SNES mainly. Examples are Mr. Tuff, Speedy Gonzales and Corn Buster (talking of PAL here) and they are all different
Mr. Tuff was 100% in dev and very very close to completion, a rom exists, but no proto is known.
Speedy Gonzales was the same, very close to being sold in Europe, but no rom existed. Then suddenly a rom AND proto showed up :)
Corn Buster was 100% in dev, not too close to completion but the devs released a rom. I talked to them, they don't have a proto left but they did send all protos back then to Sunsoft Japan.
what to do here? i'm not sure, Speedy is of course a proto, but the others??
