See, #4 I knew easily because I have the C64 version of it ;)

In the end I didn't know #1, #3 and #20 which pretty much stopped me from entering sadly.

hehe i actually wrote in the email to jibba that the game is for md and c64 :D

you didn't know #1? wow, i really thought anyone knows A Boy and his Blob, if you would have done a search for "NES" and "Cinnamon" on google i'm pretty sure you would have found it out...

#3 is a tough one if you don't know it, that's true, although there also is a GBA version which increases the popularity of the game

#20 also SNES, you're not the biggest SNES fan, huh? ;) almost impossible to find out if you don't know it right away or maybe know the series...

Ones I knew right off the bat: 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 11, 12, 14 , 17, 18, 19

How I got the others:

4. I don't remember how I came across this one. I saw a random screenshot somewhere and I noticed that the wall was the same design. A quick look on Retrobase.net confirmed it.

5. Thought that this was Magic Sword at first, I eventually realized that it was a Castlevania GBA game. Google results showed me it was Aria, based on the character design.

7. Last one to find. Looked at a list of SNES RPGs and went through screens one by one. FFIII was the only one that matched character design and cavern walls.

9. Verified the ship's appearance.

10. All I did to find this one was look through the DP screenshot guide to find something that looked similar.

13. I had to verify which one. I initially thought of Pitfall, but further scrutiny made me realize it was Pitfall II.

15. A toughie. Googled all the words on screen. Eventually found it.

16. A quick check of screen shots confirmed that Axel's sprite was yellow in SoR3 only.

20. Second to last one for me to find, I searched the DP database against Retrobase.net to find it. I just looked at screens of games that I was unfamiliar with. I thought it was No Escape initially.

Shhhhh! I don’t want anyone think I’ve got a racket going here. ;)
Actually, I’ve been working on another contest. I was going to do it next year, but I think I might do it sooner since there seems to be a spirit of giving in the air.

I only knew 1, 6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 18 and 19 right away. In fact, even 19 I had to double-check because I’ve never played the game, but it was pretty obvious just from being familiar with it.

2. I actually thought was an SMS game at first, but after checking the ones I thought it might be I went to the DP NES screenshot gallery and luckily it was right there on the first page.

3. I was pretty sure this was Blackthorne when I first saw it, but I wanted to double-check so I looked at the DP 32X screenshot gallery and it was different! For some reason, it didn’t occur to me that there might be another version until I figured out that they were all in alphabetical order and it had to be between Adventure Island and Castlevania. Sure enough, it’s the SNES version!

4. One of the hardest. I found it by searching Genesis screenshots between Blackthorne and Castlevania on vgmuseum. I had about 100 pop-ups on my computer by the time I was done with that site! LOL

5. Having played a lot of Circle of the Moon on my GBA I immediately recognized this as one of the other 2 GBA Castlevania games. A quick check at the Castlevania Dungeon confirmed it as Aria of Sorrow.

7. Obviously a SNES RPG, though I didn’t know which one. My first guess was the Final Fantasy series, which was easily verified. Determining which one in the series was harder.

9. Originally had this as Salamander, but when I realized the alphabetical order I changed it to Life Force!

11. Didn’t know this one, but as hydrox pointed out, “system is obvious, mickey + tetris, what do you get?”

14. This one took an embarrassingly long time. I knew it was Sonic, of course, but couldn’t remember for the life of me which one it was. Found a Sonic fan site with lots of screenshots to help me.

15. Again, the alphabetical clue told me this had to start with either Space or Star. At first I thought it was a C64 game, but looking at the systems for the other 19 screenshots I guessed it was probably Genesis. I tried googling the words on the screen like some others did, but for some reason that didn’t help me.

16. I googled “Axel beat em up video game” and figured out right away that it was from the Streets of Rage series. The OK bar in the middle told me it was SoR 3.

17. I knew it was Super Mario Land, but when I was looking to see which one I actually came across a site that has SML1 screenshots listed under SML2. That confused me for a long time.

20. Another hard one. I figured it out by searching through SNES screenshots. Unfortunately, I had not yet realized they were in alphabetical order or I would have saved a lot of time.

#20 also SNES, you're not the biggest SNES fan, huh? ;) almost impossible to find out if you don't know it right away or maybe know the series...

I've had a SNES since 1991 ;)

I just never bought crap games that's all LOL

//looks at decent sized SNES/SFC collection of over 100 titles

Still, I wasn't in the greatest condition to use my brain a lot, I've been fighting a cold since last weekend :/

@Keir - I am so like amazed and disappointed you didn't know #4 straight off as well... being a C64 person and all :P

Did you never have the game? Because I find it hard since you like RPGs ;)

I actually have both the C64 and Genesis versions, but for some reason never actually played either of them. Go figure!

I got my prize a couple days ago. I would've posted sooner, but the search function wasn't working and I couldn't find this thread. Anyway, thanks a lot!
