I've started training at my new job this week and I'm doing some helish hours -- getting up at 6:30, work from 8 AM to 6:30 PM, be home by 7:30, in bed by 10:30.

I know Zelda: Manish Cap for the GBA is allready waiting for me at my local EB (came out Tuesday) and I also have a pre-order on Suikoden 4, due out Wed.

I won't be able to get to the store to pick them up till Friday afternoon.

How long will the store keep my pre-order? I don't care so much about Zelda but Suikoden 4 has the art book.

Well, I'd say your best bet would be to get on the phone and make sure they put it aside. They will sell it if they think you won't be coming any time soon.

Cirrus is right. Call them and let them know. Otherwise, you look like a no-show and they might sell your preorder. I've seen it happen before.

EB's official policy is 24 hours, but every manager I've ever talked to won't sell it the instant that 24 hours is up (except for systems or very large releases, possibly. You don't show up for your PSTwo and it's gone, sorry :P)

At my store we generally hold it until Friday, and will sell it on Saturday if it comes out on a Tuesday. The reason for that is we are tracked and ranked for the number of new release titles we sell from the release date until Saturday.

If you call and say "hey I'm going to be a few days picking it up" almost everyone I know would be nice and set it aside for you for a few days.

Sorta depends on if they're in short supply... if yours is the last copy, they're more likely to sell it to someone else, than if there's yours and 20 more left.

Well, you could always pick up a copy of THAT one at your local YMCA or something... :P

Seriously though, if you call, they should hold it, otherwise, might be tough luck for you![/b]

Yeah usually they'll hold it if you just call. I've had and EB hold games for me up to three days. If you were hoping to also get the preorder bonus though, I'm not sure if they will hold that as well, my guess would be no.

But if they don't, I would look at what the terms of the Pre-Order are, and if it doesn't mention anything about relinquishing the product or bonus', I would ask them to rectify the situation, and if not, let them knwo they can speak to my lawyer.

Well the first and only time I pre-ordered something, they called me and said it had to be picked that day or they'd sell it. I will never, ever pre-order something again. F them.

It says specifically on the receipt you received from them at the product will be held for 48 hours (to the last poster, maybe the policy used to be 24 hours)

Specifically policy for preorder bonuses is "while supplies last" so if they run out because you didn't pick it up right away, you're out of luck.

I work at a Funcoland and we hold for 48 hours unless the person calls. Then we can make exceptions. The biggest reason for this is that the Manager gets in trouble when there is a lone game or system hanging out in their inventory for too long. The parent company watched this like a hawk. If you do this too often, the company will "punish" the store by not sending more when they are needed. I ask, is there any reason to be so cutthroat within the organization? So stupid.

Well, I ended up being able to make it to the mall tonight, and it turns out they had'nt gotten their Suikoden 4's in until today anyway, so it all washed out. ;) In fact, I grabbed the last strategy guide for the game, a minute before someone else came in asking for it. :D

Yes... if one store in a district sells tons of the game and sells out, and another store in the district sells very few, and has a poor pick-up percentage of presells, then the 2nd store needs to give up its preorders. And in the future, if this is a PATTERN, it would be wise not to give that store many extras.

I think it sould all depend on how much money you have actually put down. I mean if you only spent 5 bucks so far, then yeah sell it to someone else after 48 hours. However, if you have the game paid in full I think they sould hold onto it for as long as they can. After all you basically own the game at that point.

Your down payment actually doesn't get counted as a sale until you actually pick it up. So financially they have not yet gained anything. Honestly tho, the people that are the type to fully pay a game off aren't the type to forget hehe. The most money I've ever seen on an "abandoned" game was $14. And I think that was because they got their phone number changed or disconnected or whatnot and never told us, so we could never find them.
