I just joined and thought I should introduce myself.
My name is Chad, I live in Wisconsin, and I enjoy all console based games no matter their age.
I currently own the following consoles with games for all of them:
PS3, PS2, PS1, Xbox 360, Xbox, N64, Gamecube, Dreamcast, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, SNES, NES, and Virtual Boy.
I've always loved video games but normally only played the most current consoles and games. About a month ago I decided to change all that and I added all the consoles listed above except for the PS3 and Xbox 360 which I already owned. I've also added about 300 games in the last month.
I'm also into cars and motorcycles. Here's a list of my current vehicles:

Hi~!
Just joined!
My name is Mzo and I play video games. I've mainly only posted on the GameFan boards back in the day, which then became GameGo and eventually merged into The Next Level. I like everything but realistic driving and sports games, and am pretty terrible at RTSes. Everything else is fair game.

I've been lurking here for at least a year now, so I figured I'd join the party.
I love video games, I am a cartridge whore, I have a pretty stout console collection, and I compulsively mod everything.
I'm kinda weird... but I'm an artist, so I get a pass on that one.
I know how to fix everything from the Channel F to the N64, I'm also starting a series of tutorials on my youtube channel so people can properly mod and maintain their old video games... I also build handheld emulators and high quality chiptune gear... check out my DA gallery if you're curious.
That's your basic overview...

Hi everyone, greeting from California! My name is Shaun and I like the retro games from the 90s. A member from another forum mentioned DigitPress, so I came here to lurk and see if it was worthwhile. Now here I am, I think the site is very cool and seems to encompass quite a bit more than I'm used to which is a great thing. I mainly like gaming on Playstation 1&2, Gameboy Advance for my retro addiction. When I want to play something more modern I use PS3 and PC. Some people enjoy having the newest games released, I've grown to be sort of the opposite.. I like to pick up the games that others have forgotten or moved-on from. Before I end this i'd just like to say that I'm here for anyone who needs help/advice on modding Playstations (PSX and PS2), I also offer a service for those who do not have the time to do it themselves. I'm always willing to help!

Well it was more exciting back in the day (70's 80's 90"s) aside from bmx flatlanding, skateboarding and snowboarding (actually alittle bball too) games took up some of my leasure time. Id lay a few games out in front of me and start a pot of coffee then have at em. few games here and there adds up over time.
I didnt go full bore until the turboduo came out. EB and Software etc had limited stock in turbografx so it became a hunt (no internet at that time) traveled to hall of games in taftville ct.. ultimate game club middletown ct... multimedia 1.0 in manhatten. (met greg wilcox lol) then i got the internet and traded alot with a friend in canada (justin cheer) .
I use to build tuner cars , spent 34k on a motor and trans for my DSM. ended up squeezing over 500hp out of her without nos . had to buy cans of race fuel and after a while the car became un streetable ( drag strip only)
Then i sold that and bought a few vintage cars 69 buick and 64 T Bird. got a motorcycle but im selling that at shop (bikes and me dont mix) its a beull 1200 cc. and a 79 camero (for sale)

Hi, thanks for showing your interest. I posted a thread titled "Contribute Your Thoughts for a Magazine Article About Retro Gaming!" Thanks again!
Hi everyone,
I'm Merlijn, I'm 24 years old and I live in Belgium where I work as a firemen. My hobbies are paintball and car track days and since a couple of weeks retro gaming.
I recently started collecting retro games after getting Pokémon for my old gameboy, I really like the old games where gameplay was more important then graphics.
Apart from that gameboy with 4 games I never owned any game consoles when I was young, simply because my parents didn't want to buy it, wich is not a bad thing because I played outside more, but now that I want to start a collection I really have to start from scratch.
I stumbled accros this forum while doing some google searchs and after reading through quite some posts I descided to register since this seems quite a lively forum.
I'm hoping to get a nice collection together with a mix of old and new games/consoles. I'm mostly into Nintendo though so I've already bought a N64 Pikachu edition wich I found for a very nice price and 2 Game & Watch consoles: Greenhouse and Donkey Kong wich I only paid €30 (around 40$) for the pair. I should be getting a NES or SNES pretty soon (the guy doesn't know/remember wich of the 2 he has). I'm also planning on going to some flea markets in the next weeks.

Hi there everyone!
My name is Jules but I'm more known as Retr0J.
I'm a UK gamer living in the sunny (hardly) South West
I found the forums through a recommendation from a friend who said that this was the best place to find people who live and breathe gaming and was a great way to make contacts.
Favorite games is a very tough one for me as I enjoy such a wide range! I'd say for Retro it'd be Final Fantasy 6 and for current I would have to say....er...Bioshock 1
I collect games for the PS1 as this was the first console I actually went out an bought with my own money so it holds that extra special appeal. Still got my original console some 15 years on!
In real life I'm a modern foreign language specialist who works with schools in an attempt to raise language awareness and promote learning and teaching of foreign languages in schools.
Really looking forward to seeing what's inside the forums!

Hi all,
Grouchy old fart here, 42. I've been playing video games since 1982 and collecting them since the 1990's. I've always been about ten years behind the times, I've never owned an Xbox, I'm just now contemplating buying a Playstation 2, and I've made a point of accumulating games that I have no hope or interest in playing, regardless of platform. If there's anything I'd like to specialize in, I suppose it would eventually be early 80's computer games, once I ever winnow my holdings down to a manageable level. I guess I'm a video-game hoarder, but I consider it a pretty harmless and kind of happy sort of mania to have. Nice to once again be in the presence of fellow collectors.
Until later, ^G

Hey everyone!
I am a relatively short 24 (nearly 25) year old human currently living in the south-west of England. I've been gaming since some time in the early 90s, can't pin-point when but it was before 1993!
I came across these forums while bingeing on old games and thought I'd like to get involved and inflict myself on you guys =)
I'm going to be as generic as an RPG and say I don't really have a favourite. I have a load of games that I really enjoy playing, mainly being Cannon Fodder, Conkers Bad Fur Day, Crash Bandictoot, Crash Team Racing, Bonanza Bros., Wonder Boy 3, Ico and Team Buddies!!!
I hate the world 'collect' in terms of games, makes me think of some guy whose just hoarding a vast game library to look at rather than play with! I buy games for any machine I still own, these being the Amiga 600, Sega Master System 2, Nintendo 64, Gameboy, PS2 (surrogate PS1 and then there's the current generation which don't really get a look-in.
In life I attempt to make my own games, inspired by a lifetime thus far of gaming.
I think collecting for the sake of owning a game and not playing it is perverse, a game exists to be played! That game sitting on your shelf could be bringing joy or nostalgia to someone with a genuine desire to play it rather than mucking around with a ROM. Collectors put the prices of old games up unnecessarily.
Rant over, alienation complete.

Hi everyone. My name is Daniel Jackson, I'm 27 years old and live in Rockford, Illinois. I've found the forum quite a few times over the years when I've Google'd something and it linked here. Finally decided to make an account so I can participate in discussion with everyone here. My favorite games are RPGs. From the NES days to the early PS3/360 timeframe that's pretty much all I ever played aside from the popular games within other genres, like the Mario titles, Zelda games, and such. I collect games for pretty much everything. I have an NES, SNES, Genesis, 32X, Sega CD, Nintendo 64, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, PS2, X-Box, Gamecube, PS3, 360, Wii, WiiU, Nintendo DS, 3DS, PSP, Vita, GameGear and the Master System attachment for the GameGear. I really want to get a Turbografx system in the future. I've been collecting Game Informer magazines and have most of the issues (almost everything after issue 94, missing a lot prior to that), other than that it's mostly games themselves I collect.

Let us begin.
Hey guys, I'm Gabriel, i live in Texas for now (happily mind you). Doing some research on retro sites I found the forum, so you can say i found the forum in accident lol.
My favorite retro games are: Galaga (1.2 milliion score :)), Legend of Zelda (A link to the past), Metroid(nes), Donkey Kong Country, Castlevania 1,2,3, Yoshi's Island (my wife and I will always and forever play this game), Super Mario World, Killer Instinct, Pokemon Fire Red, Doom II, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy 4... the list here goes on and on.
My favorite modern games are: Call of Duty (series)... and that's about it, play much more retro than current.
My favorite game style is the independent community that has built up in the last years. Very interesting and has given me some of my favorite games, to mention some: CaveStory, Super Meat Boy, Minecraft, Terraria... the list can go on and on :)
One of the games I'm looking forward to is chasm http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/discordgames/chasm --> If you have the time/money, and like the game donate to their kickstarter :)
As of now I am not a collector I just enjoy playing the games I still have from when I was a child. However, i missed out on a lot of games as a child, so i'm trying to catch up now. :)
For a living right now, I'm the producer for a small independent company I started not too long ago here in TX: Prototype Studios. We are currently in preliminary development of our first release Space Adventure (a retro side scrolling shooter that carries various rpg elements). If you'd like to know more of the game, and it's various developments, you can follow us on Facebook (facebook.com/prototypestudios18) or check out the post I started on the developments of the game here at: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=1964485

Hey everyone, I'm David. I'm currently living in Arkansas. I found the forums through Google searches that lead me to the "Room of Doom Galleries" on the front page. I've actually been lurking around here for a while, but decided to finally join. Some of my favorite game franchises are Halo, Dead Space, F.E.A.R., BioShock, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Gears of War, etc. I love first person and third person shooters the most, but I play other genres as well. These days I do most of my gaming on the PC, but I also do my fair share of XBOX gaming. Halo is my all time favorite series. I love the story. I collect anything and everything Halo. I've played all the games, read most of the books and comics, and I still can't get enough! Aside from that, I collect just about everything from NES to today, but nothing prior to the NES. I actually got started collecting around 2000, but about four years ago I sold everything (except my Halo stuff :D) and called it quits. Recently I decided to get back into the game so I'm starting from nearly scratch. In real life I work as a Server Admin. It's not exciting, but it pays the bills. Aside from gaming and collecting, I'm very big into Mountain Biking. It's my main source of exercise as well as a very fun hobby.

Hi everyone,
-My name is Sonny, I live in Sherbrooke (in Quebec, Canada)
-I found the forums a few years ago while looking for rarity lists (and then found out about DP's collector's guides)
-My favorites games are shmups and various other arcade style games. Some of my favorite titles include: Ibara, R-Type III, Metal Slug, Street Fighter III 3S, Guilty Gear series, Castlevania SotN, Ogre Battle MotBQ...)
-I do not collect for any particular system but I collect (use to...) shmups and arcade style games for various systems.
-I'm a Phys Ed. Teacher that also likes modding video game systems and restoring antiques.
-I began collecting by grabbing various games in yard sales while looking for antiques with my dad (that was about 20 years ago).
-I'm actually selling most of my collection to make room and stack money for twin babies that are due in a few months.
-I have been a member of the CCJVQ and CGCC communities since 2004.
Cheers!
Hey everyone, I'm Carter. I work in IT. I just had a child a few weeks ago. Well, not personally but my wife did. She carried him, cooked him up and spat him out. I live in Australia where the retro scene is about as lively as a graveyard. I collect for the Saturn, Dreamcast and PSP but my focus is on Saturn since I only have 50 odd games left to buy. I grew up with the Master System, SNES, N64 in the late 80s and 90s. I only started collecting for PSP because I was finding cheap games and I have roughly 50 games. I have roughly 50 Dreamcast games and I have roughly 250 Sega Saturn games. I have various other Gamecube games (10-15 maybe?), Sega Master games, (again, maybe 10-15?) and PS2 games (again, maybe 10-15?) that I can think of. Some of the games I have for other consoles were games I either picked up as a bargain or were something I was seeking specifically like Ikaruga for the Gamecube. I don't have a favourite game but I do play a lot.

Hello everyone. I may know some of you if you're on Cheap Ass Gamer or Smash World Forums. I'm a long time member on both, and i'm especially active on CAG. I found this site by googling for Outback Joey (I am big time trying to track down a copy of Outback Joey, either loose or with the Heartbeat Personal Trainer. A tall task, I know). I found two users on this website who had posted about owning copies. I pm'd both of them, one had sold his and the other hasn't responded.
In the mean time, I figured I may as well enjoy the site. I love gaming and i'm also a collector. My favorite games of all time are...well, I started typing a list but I couldnt narrow it down lol. IRL im a huge sports fan (both playing and watching). Bulls, Cubs, Blackhawks, Bears. I'd post more about myself but i'm about to head out the door. Hopefully I'll be a member here for a good long time. Who knows, maybe i'll even find a Joey.

Hello. I stumbled across this site by accident looking for certain retro mags. My name is Walter and I am in the southeast U.S.. Currently, I work at home and when I goof off I like to surf for pop culture tidbits from my youth.
My gaming goes way back to the beginning of the '80s with the Invellivision. I was a constant arcader back then as well. I have played almost every system up to the Xbox 360. I'm not to interested in the newest systems so if I post it will most likely have to do with the older game systems and computers.
At the moment my interest is mainly in emulated Amiga and ST games and applications.
Besides gaming I have started collecting the toys I grew up with again as well. Currently, I'm working on Masters of the Universe and a few other '80s lines. I would also like to get ahold of a few game related toy collectables from that time as well.

Hello DP!
If you havent seen my posts yet, I hope you havent judged me too much from the school yard fighting in the VGA thread. I have since been posting mainly one liners in other threads, and talking about the XBO in the modern gaming threads.
My first console was a NES, and well, Im havent looked back much, the only console from the 80's that interests me is really THE VECTREX!, but I cant find one, let alone games for it.

- Gamer, collector, composer, husband and dad (that order changes daily!)
- In Seoul currently, but am from the UK.
- While searching for "rare games" with Google, this forum came up. Too good not to join...
- My great addiction is to the Unreal series (I have all official releases) and general action/shooters for playing. For collecting, anything cool.
- I am a PC-only guy...old school, I suppose.
- I am an English professor and hobbyist composer for film, TV and games.
- Unreal got me fully hooked on the genre I love today (Wolf 3D was pretty influential as well), but I have always been a gamer. First computer was a VIC-20 in '81~82.
Glad to be here among like-minded individuals and thanks to the hosts for providing a forum for us to gather.

I used to be a member here back in 2007 but my computer busted. Now I've got a new one and, considering the good times I had here, I've come back.
I'm 26, live in Illinois, and enjoy games from the late 90's-early 2000's.

Hello, all!
My name is Tyler and I'm living in Ohio. I'm 25 (soon to be 26) and have been gaming since the age of 4. I currently have 3 part-time jobs (janitor, online English instructor, and Japanese translator/English proofreader). I lived in Japan for 3 years, and as such have had amazing access to Japan-exclusive games and have also been able to play some games before some of my friends back here in the US! I'll be moving to Michigan in a few weeks to begin my PhD graduate work at MSU, where I will also be a teaching assistant.
I'll never forget my first foray into gaming---I was at a department store (Sears, if my memory serves me) with my parents in 1991, and we happened to pass by the electronics section. They had a Sega Genesis on display with Sonic the Hedgehog playable. I walked up to the display, picked up the controller, and fell in love. I pleaded for my parents to allow me to take that magical device home, but they told me that I would have to wait for Santa to bring it later that year, provided I was a good little boy of course. Sure enough, later that very year I got the Sega Genesis with Sonic for Christmas, and ever since then I have been obsessed with all things Sonic and Sega. I of course branched out to many other systems/games (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, etc.), and I LOVE games in general and still play games on all different kinds of systems, but I still consider myself a Sega guy.
I stumbled upon this site many, many years ago when looking for lists of best games for various systems, but was recently encouraged to join the site by a person with whom I have done a little business on eBay. It seems like just the place for a guy like me; a place where a (classic) gamer can interact with others like him/her, find games for which one has been searching, etc. I'm actually looking forward to using the site to sell some of my games and systems to help with grad school expenses (and of course pay for other games/systems! ;)). I guess I'll head on over to the buying and selling section and see what's up!
I'm looking forward to being part of what looks to be an awesome community!

Hello!
My name is Rick and I'm living in the north Delaware, southeastern Pennsylvania area. I've stumbled upon these forums as I am trying to repair a strange issue I am having with my SNES that I have not been able to find anywhere else.
I would have to say some of my favorite games are Half-Life series, Portal 1 & 2, Sonic on the Genesis, Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. There's a lot, but that's to just name a few. I feel like I could keep going since there are many I seem to hold in the same high regard as others.
I guess at this point I am collecting for every system I currently own, bit by bit, game by game, so that would be: NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, GameCube, Wii, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, Gameboy, Gameboy Advanced, DS and of course, the Windows PC.
In real life I am IT support for the Chemistry and Biochemistry department of a sizeable University. A lot of it is fixing broken Windows PC, advising on new Mac laptops, and administrating multiple Linux servers and Linux computational clusters.
I think I've only truly began moderately collecting recently. After finding some time in between fixing my car, no longer being addicted to an MMORPG, and settling down at a new job, one of my friends showed me this new-ish store that opened up in the old Borders building called 2nd and Charles. There's a lot of crappy sports games on their shelves, but if you ask to see anything before the have sorted it and put it out, you might find a few treasures.

Hello! Old school video game fan here, from Colorado. As a kid in the '80s I became a big video game fan, whether at the arcade or playing my first console, the NES. My favorite console of all time is the SNES, the very heart of my nostalgic gaming memories. I also love to play Sega Genesis, Master System, Dreamcast, Xbox 360 and my beloved Atari 2600.
Nice to be here.

Hiya. I'm Little Miss Gloom, from Canada. I forget how I found the forums.
I have too many favourite games to list, but my top five in no real order are A Link to the Past, Vandal Hearts, The Simpsons arcade game, Double Dragon II, and Karnov.
Used to be a huge collector; got rid of a lot of stuff due to lack of space and feeling overwhelmed every time I wanted to play a game. But I own the most games for Nintendo, with Super Nintendo close behind.
I'm a recent college graduate; am also a novelist and freelance deadbeat. I cannot stand modern technology, I love horror movies, and I listen to more game soundtracks than I do "real" music.

Hello everyone. My name is Garrett and I am from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Someone on NintendoAge posted a link to a video of Jeff Cooper's collection and in that video he mentioned Digital Press. I checked it out after watching and this is how I found the forum.
I collect primarily for the SNES, but in pursuing that collection I have acquired items for NES, N64, PS1, PS2, Gamecube and Gameboy. For the most part I now look for any good deals I can get through thrift stores, yard sales, etc. My lofty goal is to have a complete set for the SNES, cartridge only. So at this time I am really trying to get as many games as I can without a specific focus on particular titles.
I have always "collected" in that I have kept or reacquired every system I have had growing up along with a core set of games. I got more serious after I found some good deals on Craigslist and was able to find games that I hadn't played in years.
Although I am new here, I am also on NintendoAge, with the same tag, and I am on ebay as garrences.

Name is Michael and I'm an Internet Marketer who knows video games more than the average person. I started working on my own website lately and will hopefully bring in classic and modern players alike to share their nostalgia with everyone. I'm not a big fan of modern games, mostly because they feel too realistic for my tastes.
Well, that is all for now. I'll see you around.

My names Lesley, have been gaming my entire life since the original Atari. Just started to get back into classic gaming again.
I have a green apple N64, a retro duo, a neo geo x, and a Japanese sega saturn.
My favorite is my jap sega saturn (white).
Games I play: not to many, but what I enjoy I really enjoy.
Super Mario all-stars, Mario 64, Mega Man 3, sakura wars, lunar, lunar 2, Zelda ocarina and Zelda 2 I play occasionally, final fantasy 5 original s fami cart, garou mark of the wolves, ninja master.
Very much a fan of the saturn and n64. Not a real big fan of the neo geo or snes-nes. Mostly, just certain games I enjoy. Amazing systems though. Was an avid snes collector as a kid, but just played way too many snes games to hold my attention these days.
Looking for a lunar 2 text translation for the saturn. Not a patch, like a printed text translation like the one for sakura wars.
Have to pick up a jap playstation when I can. Have a copy of ff8 jap. But not in any rush.
I'll most likely be typing from my mobile, just FYI. So the sentences may be short like this, but always respectful.
Look forward to reading the posts and talking to all of you.

Hey guys,
Name's Packrat.
I've been a console collector for years now, and have recently expanded into vintage arcade cabinets...so w00t. (First one, Centipede!!!, screen is wonky, so it must be replaced, but hey at least it works!)
Real life = Programmer
Live: Wandering about the mid-atlantic.
Started collecting with my first systems as a child.
Anywho, I'll tell you a little about my consoles, most of them I've owned since I was a child.
Right now I have a CV, w/atari 2600 adapter, a 7800, (currently looking for a 5200, for which I have about 15 games someone gave me waaay back in the day), a lynx, a game gear, a gameboy, a gameboy color, a gb adv, a DS, 2ps1's, 2 ps2's, (i lost my n64's with all the moving I've done), a wii, and that's all I can think of at the moment.
The 7800's power supply died back in the early 90's, and the coleco spent the last 15 years in storage. Yes I am getting the garbled picture mess on the CV, and will do the switch mod next week.
Soooo anyway Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself n what not, as you will be seeing me around.

Hi everyone!
This is Alpha2099, or you can call me Nick if you wish. I've been a pretty big gamer since my early childhood, and while I can't keep up with the growing cost of games and consoles, I still play the oldies and I love them dearly.
My first gaming came with a Game Boy (black and white variety) in 1997. A year later, my family bought a PS1 which got a lot of use. Eventually I upgraded to a Game Boy Color and GBA, as well as a PS2. That's pretty much where it stopped being affordable. And through it all, I've been a big PC gamer as well.
The emulation community has enabled me to discover a lot of the old classics from the arcades, NES, Master System, and so on. In fact, at this moment I'm playing through Dragon Warrior IV.
Rather than make this an essay post, I'll leave it here. I hope to converse with a lot of you on the forum, and if you want to know what kind of games I like, send me a message.

Hey Everyone!
My name is Dennis and I currently live in Pennsylvania, but my wife and I are looking to relocate to the Seattle area in the near future.
I currently work for Starbucks (for benefits) while I finishing up some education to pursue a career in 3D animation.
I am currently working on collecting all of the U.S. titles for the Sega Saturn. I am somewhere around 100 Complete In Box titles (getting close to the half way point!) and am looking to get some more of the higher end titles in the near future. Aside from a few consoles I grew up with, I haven't really gotten into collecting until about 6 months ago. Since then I have acquired a lot of my friends games/systems, and purchased a lot through ebay. Even though I am focusing on Sega Saturn games I am always looking to expand my collection any way I can.
My current console collection consists of: NES (front load and top load), SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Gameboy, GBC, GBP, GBA, GBA SP, Sega Genesis Model 1+2 Sega CD (the one that sits on the side of the console), 32x, Sega Saturn (model 1+2), Dreamcast, Game Gear, Sega Nomad, PS1 (original model), PS2 slim, PS3, PSP 3000, Xbox, Xbox 360, and a TurboGrafx 16
I also have somewhere around 600+ games in my collection.

Hey, I'm new here, so I thought I'd introduce myself by asking a question. Why Can't I post anything yet? Are they really asking us to introduce ourselves, then wait a while, THEN be able to reply to someone else? I was looking, and it seems like the only thing I can do right now is edit my non-existent posts, that I can't seem to put anywhere else. Okay, rant over.
I'm into retro gaming, and I believe cartridges should make a comeback, because with the exception of Super Mario Bros. 3, all my NES carts still work from when I got them new. How many disk systems can say the same thing? Lately, I seem to be buying more Famicom stuff then NES stuff. Just working out that way, I guess. I'm trying to collect as many different versions of The Legend Of Zelda as possible. Not the series, but the original game. I have both the Famicom & NES carts, a virtual version on my Wii, and a Gamecube 'Zelda Collection', which is the only way I'm going to get Link's Adventure anytime soon. Next up is the Famicom Disk Version. I got a Twin Famicom last year, just to play that, and a copy of Doki Doki Panic (also known as what they hacked to make Super Mario Bros. 2) that I have, and enjoy more than the US version of the game. I've got a 41 in 1 and a 31 in 1 Famicom multicart, so if anyone has a multicart for ANY system, let me know, and depending on the games, I might take it off your hands!

Hey all
My name's Ben,
I've been on Nintendoage for a few months, so I decided to check out this place after hearing some stuff about it
I'm 17 years old, so I missed out on the NES, SNES, and N64 unfortunately. My first console was a Nintendo DS (My parents hated video games (and still do), so it took them forever to let me get one). Since then, I loved that thing and played it to death. SOon after, I got an Xbox 360 and a Wii, where I discovered the virtual console. Since then, I never liked the feel of playing a game on a digital download, so I decided to pick up a NES, SNES, and N64. Now I collect for mainly NES and SNES, and I hope to collect every game for those systems worth playing.
I hope this site will help me accomplish my goal, and I hope that I'll be staying for a while

Hello, fellow collectors my name is Tim (prefer to only give out first name) and I joined this site for three main reasons to
1.) to gather knowledge for a "pet project"
2.) share my experiences with the hobby
3.) to have fun
I started collecting when I bought a N64 on whim in 2010, later obtaining NES for free(ill tell that story some other time if anyone is interested) and buying dreamcast back in 2012. I haven't looked back since those events.

yellow, i guess i just randomly stumbled into the forum and saw how many retro-tastic persons are here and thought "i might just fit in" if this thread is is in the wrong spot, feel free to move it to the proper spot
There's a thread on here that you might like about "What if Nintendo made new NES cartridges".
In a case like that, cartridges are great because the ROMs needed for a system like that are now cheap. But when a cartridge system is new or cutting-edge, the ROMs are so expensive that it sets huge limitations on space for graphics (and music especially).

Hey there! I have been a longtime lurker on this site, but never really felt I had much to contribute. Now that I've been getting more into repairing electronics and gaming equipment, I finally decided to join up in the hopes that my exploits may be of some help to others. I've been a gamer since I was a wee lad (now 30!), having started my gaming 'career' with the Atari 2600 and NES. Over the years, I've amassed a decent collection of games and consoles. I really only collect the stuff I'm interested in (not a hard-core completionist by any means, but I am a stickler for quality). I can't say I really care much for modern games (post-PS2), but fortunately I have a large backlog of JRPGs, 'shmups', sidescrollers, etc. to keep me entertained indefinitely.
Consoles: Atari 2600 "heavy sixer", NES, Sega Master System, TurboGrafx-16 w/TGCD Attachment, Sega Genesis mk1 w/Sega CD mk1, SNES (original and mini), 3DO FZ-10, Sega Saturn, Playstation/PSone w/LCD screen, N64, Dreamcast, Playstation 2 (original and slim), GameCube w/GBA Player, XBOX360.
Handhelds: Original GameBoy, Atari Lynx II, Original GameBoy Advance w/Afterburner Backlight, NDS Lite, misc. standalones
Lately I've been doing more repair work than actual playing...ugh. I've done quite a few repairs including a full capacitor replacement on my model 1 Genesis/Sega CD setup (recently did a model 2 setup for a friend too), new caps in my NES, TG16, Lynx and GameBoy (the latter rescued from the trash), rebuilt the Saturn's power supply and installed a mod chip, replaced the optical pickup in my Playstation, etc. I think my next project is the long-overdue refurbishment of my TurboGrafx-CD. I can only hope that I'll have some time this winter to do some actual gaming! Apart from gaming and electronics/computer repair, I enjoy tinkering with my old SAAB and helping my friends work on their various automotive projects.
Happy gaming, see you out there!

Hey gents,
I am DiEsmitty, a stupid tag but oh well.
First system was an Atari, but I was a little on the young side. My father brought home an NES with Power Pad and Duck Hunt, since that day I have been a gamer. The very first system I bought for myself was a Playstation 1, since then I have had every major system with the exception of the Wii U. I am virtually retired so my wife told me to get a hobby so I started collecting Super Famicoms, and MegaDrives, under the guise that I'm going to sell them on Ebay. Oh yeah I live in Japan. I have the PS4 on pre-order and hope to pick up a Wii U on price drop day.

09-09-2013, 03:49 PM
Hello all!!
This is wayultratech, and this is my first post here or on any forum. I am a retro video game player and collector, and for the most part i collect for SNES/SFC, N64 and GC although i am hyped on pretty much all retro consoles/games from the Pippin to the Loopy to the LaserActive to the AES and everything in between. Here's a list of what i have and play currently: (sadly had to sell some of my stuff so a tear is shed for not owning a TG16 or Saturn at the moment)
Super Nintendo (the OG NTSC model with thankfully no yellowing)
Retro Duo (basically to play SFC and NES games)
Nintendo Gamecube with Gameboy Player (the GBP is rad, so cool it can play GB GBC and GBA)
Nintendo 64 (the classic black NTSC color with the super fancy and ultra deluxe cherry-on-top expansion pack)
Nintendo Gameboy Color (if i gotta wait at the laundromat and want to get my Bust-A-Move on or put some time into Oracle of Seasons/Ages)
Nintendo Wii (the black NTSC model)
Nintendo 3DS (the aqua blue model)
i own a bunch of carts/games for Nintendo consoles, mostly for SNES/SFC
Sega Genesis (model 1 NTSC)
Sega 32X (looks pretty brutal strapped to the model 1, but hey, Chaotix is fun!!)
Sega Dreamcast (white/grey NTSC)
I also have a bunch of games for the above Sega consoles, mostly Genesis carts
Sony Playstation (OG NTSC grey model)
Sony Playstation 2 Slim
Microsoft Xbox (OG NTSC model, got it pretty much only to play Morrowind)
I dig using the ASCii "Fighter Stick SN" to play shmups/fighters/beat em ups. The genre's i usually gravitate towards are platformers, shmups, that "Zelda-esque kinda like an RPG but mostly action" type of game, and Japanese games of all types. I've never really tried to narrow down my favorite games all-time, but here's an attempt, starting with the games every human being on planet earth will probably say:
Super Mario 64
Super Mario World
Super Mario Bros 3
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past
Bubble Bobble
Metal Gear Solid (PS1)
Resident Evil 4 (GC version)
and here's a list of my faves that are slightly less known than the above list:
Space MegaForce (SNES)
Guardian Legend (NES)
Mr Nutz (SNES)
Mischief Makers (N64)
Ikaruga (GC)
Dynamite Headdy (Genesis)
JoJos Bizarre Adventure (DC)
I very much enjoy video game history, specifically 1989 - 1999, basically during the 16 bit console war era. I also dig any and all old video game advertisements and promotional material from the 90's, stuff like that awesome 1991 Nintendo Customer Service Training video regarding "customer returns" that made it's way onto YT a while ago. Anyway, that's about it for my first post!! Thanks!!!!

Hi my name is Adrian! I work for a video game company as an environment artist :)
I've been into games since I was little. Now that I'm older I can afford to buy the games I've always wanted and wanted to play. I mainly collect games that I want to play or games that I really enjoyed playing in the past.
I've been lurking around different forums and saw that this one had a great community. I look forward to contributing and asking for help on certain projects in the future.

Hi !
I'm MrTimscampi, 22 from Belgium.
I've been a collector for a few years, now. (Started when I got a bank account at 18 :) )
I'm mostly into computers and Japanese imports.
Currently, I mainly buy consoles and computers. I have most of the things I want and am only missing a few consoles and a dozen computers before considering my collection "complete" (Or at least start buying games more often.)
Here's a list of my systems:
- Nintendo Famicom
- Nintendo Super Famicom
- Nintendo 64 (RGB modded, japanese version)
- Nintendo Gamecube (Japanese version, color is Spicy Orange)
- Sega Megadrive (First model, japanese version)
- Sega Saturn (White model)
- Sega Dreamcast (Japanese version)
- Sony PSone (The little white model, Japanese version)

I am Serious.
I have read some of the great articles on here over the years, but never looked in the forum until now.
I am a collector and player of Odyssey 2 and Atari 2600 games, and also into Commodore computers and arcades.
I participate in several other retro-gaming forums, and I also have a web site of my own.
I'm glad to be a member here now, and anticipate being an active participant for years to come.
