Horsehead
09-23-2013, 01:32 PM
- Who you are
Hey all! You can call me Horsehead (bonus points if you know where the name comes from with out looking it up :P). I've just recently started collecting again after a bit of a break. Sadly during the break I sold most of my collection, so I will be starting from scratch! I don't mind though. I love the process of collecting, hunting down all those awesome treasures. I see it as an adventure!

- Where you live
I live in a house surrounded by nothing. Yep middle of nowhere. It kind of explains why I mostly played video games while growing up. Heh.

- How you found the forums
I originally heard about it in a magazine article. I don't remember what magazine though. I have a terrible memory. Yeah, I've been a lurker to these forums for a long time now. I figured me starting up collecting again was a good excuse to finally sign up.

- What your favorite games are
THAT is a really hard question... I have always loved rpgs. Lunar Eternal Blue. Final Fantasy III. Shadowgate. Just to name a few.

- What systems you collect for
Currently I don't collect for anything technically. I intend to start with Nintendo 64 though. It's a great system.

- What you do in "real life"
On a regular day I Fly through space fighting zombie-ninja-pirate-robots with my sidekick Hermes the celestial rooster.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I am a boy.

Hi, long time, first time.

My name is Dave and I've gotten bitten by the collecting bug a few years ago and started to get back a lot of what I sold over a decade ago.

I am currently 37, live in an apartment above a bar in Franklin Square, Long Island, pushing a pencil from 9-5. My earliest video game memories (where I actually knew what I was doing) was playing Colecovision - and for that reason I'll always show Coleco carts some love when I see them.

Besides the aforementioned Coleco, I'll collect for most consoles though, as of now, I'm working on my NES and SNES collections.

I also collect vinyl (classic rock, new wave or whatever just sounds 'good'), though that collection combined with the video games leaves me with perpetual space issues and forever wanting for more shelves.

Hi,

I go by "tarochofu", which is the example name offered by the Japanese version of Microsoft Office. I liked how generic it was and decided to stick with it.

I'm originally from America, but I currently live in the mountains of Saitama, Japan.
I've lived on and off in Japan for almost 10 years, and plan to stay forever if I can.

I found the forums by searching for information about import gaming.

My favorite games are RPGs, but I enjoy any type of game.
My favorite game of all time is Final Fantasy VI, but my first game I remember really enjoying was Rampage for the NES.

I collect games for the Super Famicom mostly, but occasionally other systems too like the Famicom.

In real life I am just a humble shakai-jin.
I started with an NES, moved on to a Sega Genesis, and then an N64 before going back to the SNES, and on to the Playstation.

Thanks!

Hi! My Name is Andreas, I'm 28 years old and i currently live in Münster/Germany. Yes, I'm a PlayStation addicted and started serious collecting 6 years ago. Since I started serious collecting I switched from PAL Version to NTSC-U/C and NTSC-J Region. Because of my preference for US and JAP imports, two users from the german "Circuit-Board" forum recommended this forum.

I'm currently collecting PS1, PS2, PS3, PSPa, PSV and SNES Games. It may sound a little bit wired, but the SNES is some kind of PS1 predecessor for me. My all time favorite game is Dragon Warrior VII and I'm a huge fan of the Dragon Quest and *shameonme* Call Of Duty franchise.

In "real-life" I own a mix of silkscreen printshop / graffiti-shop.

I started early with pc gaming and preferred it for a long time. With the release of the xbox I switched to the console for the first time in my life. After a few month I discovered console gaming more and more. I started to player jrpgs and switched from xbox to the playstation2. After years of gaming and the first european games with 60Hz mode I started to think about games from a new point of view. RGB Video, 60Hz, Scanlines and other technical stuff became important. That was the point where I started collecting games.

Yeah... That's me!

You can find me on eBay (http://myworld.ebay.de/hmmcheesecake) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/andreasreinhardt.de).

P.S.: I'm really sorry for my bad bad bad english. I know... it's worse!

Please allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Phil, I am a gamer & collector. I've been reading this site for ages (including the forums), but was too busy in at least 2 other forums to participate in here until now. However, now seems a good time. I don't know how active I will participate here, but I am sure that you'll find my name here and there. Of course I own the Digitpress books as well - although while registering here I noticed I lend away the Advanced Guide and never got it back. Damn you, Thomas H.!

I own a collection portrayed on www.consollection.de and www.facebook.com/consollection (where you even can become a "fan"). Maybe some of you know it already or even have purchased a poster or a shirt from us. While I collect, I run the site with a friend who is a designer and photographer. I have a strong hardware focus right now, so I am not buying too many games these days. Too many hardware gaps to be filled. :) However, each system has at least 1 playable game iirc - well apart from the Funtech Super A'can. I also play on the current gen and preordered the next gen. Favorite genres are racers, FPS, but also indie titles on the current gen. While retro-gaming, I enjoy Platformers as well as classic racers.

The site mentioned above shows 75% of the current collection - we are working on a big update there with 40 new systems, including important and rare stuff, at least from our point of view.

I am in my mid-30ies, father, husband and worker. I like music as much as gaming, so I own a decent record collection as well, mostly hardcore, punk, metal, rock, but also classics of rap & Hip hop, some modern Drum n Bass and so on. Movies & good TV series (from Carnivale over Deadwood to Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones) are a big thing for me as well. I like nature, I like mountainbiking, I like travelling and I have seen goods parts of Europe, Asia, Australia and the USA. I am a drugfree vegetarian dude.

Thanks for your attention, folks!

10-24-2013, 04:13 PM
I go by the name "ninjistar". I live on the west coast, USA. I found the forums via a Google search while looking for the worlds largest video game collection! I'm shocked that I haven't signed up for this site before, but I'm not even sure I had seen it until recently.

I've not been an official game collector for long. I began collecting a few years ago when I decided to purchase some "old" systems from my youth (Atari 2600, NES, SNES). Over time, I gradually found better and better deals, new places to find classic gaming items, and so my collection was born. It's very difficult to say what my favorite game is... but a few at the moment are Populous, Sim City, and Solar Jetman. I'm currently collecting for most systems, but right now I'm focusing on NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, and Super Famicom (if you can call that focusing!) :)

What I do in real life... I have had a solid, successful career as an IT "nerd" in many disciplines.

I'm sure you'll all see me around as I have a LOT of collecting to do :D

- Who you are - I go by Mad-Mike on the innertubes

- Where you live - 15-20 min north of Seattle

- How you found the forums - I visited Digital Press for awhile to look up rarity on my various games I've been collecting.

- What your favorite games are - It changes a lot. Currently I've been on a Famicom/NES Dragon Warrior/Quest kick again, I've beaten 1, I'm working on 2 and 3 now, I beat 4 many moons ago as a teen. My wife is bringing me into the Street Fighter games I ignored for so many years (she's killer at those and MK), and I'm thinking about doing a run of the Ultima games next.

- What systems you collect for: Atari 2600, Intellivision, NES, PC, Game Boy, XBOX, Wii, I mostly focus on PC, 2600, and NES though as thats my favorite era.

- What you do in "real life" - For Fun, I build guitars, build computers, hang out with my lovely wife, go to parties, play in bands, write/record music. For Profit: I support over 2,000 end users for a software giant, which has lead to some video game swag that I now need to get the console for.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc. - I began collecting in 1997 as a teenager out of nostalgia for the Atari 2600 we had when I was a wee one. Soon thereafter, I started snapping up as much Nintendo Entertainment System stuff I could. My bandmates in a former metal band I was in got me (indirectly) into Intellivision and the IBM Compatible PC before the PC even became collectable. I also did for SNES and Genesis for awhile but got out of it. I now have over 170 Atari 2600 games, 90 NES games, more PC titles than I can count to play, and do also enjoy emulation and NES ROM modification once in awhile.

I also am that guy with the "Game Genie Krazy Kodez" stuck between his gagillion guitar videos on youtube, ....you know, the ones where Mario Sees Mushrooms, sick waggly sprites, and source code in the skies, and the 8th Dungeon of Zelda was risen to the surface by the power of the evil Wizard Galoob.

Hi everyone!

My name is Monty Singleton. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. I found the forums via Google. My favorite arcade game is Ghosts 'N Goblins and my favorite NES game is: The Legend Of Zelda. Second favorite for both platforms, Super Mario Bros. I have a small but well displayed collection for the NES and I collect a LOT of arcade stuff. For example, I had a guy disassemble a Stun Runner marquee and ship it to me. The control panel for After Burner and Terminator 2. After Burner control panel weighed like 30 pounds! Items that required tools and an hour or so to remove and expensive to ship. In real life, I'm on a mission to take my passion for arcades and reimagine them for future generations. Our first project is Ghosts 'N Goblins. Good to meet everyone here! Thanks.

Hello, my name is Brian. In the good old days, I created and ran a popular website called GameSages. Since selling that business, I now create virtual sci-fi toys in Second Life, and run an inn in Vermont. Over the years I've amassed a large collection of games and accessories. I discovered this site while looking for values on some of the rarer pieces, such as the Elemental Gearbolt Assassin's Case I'm currently selling on eBay.

Speaking of which, what's the trick for posting in the Marketplace? It appears to be locked.

Hi folks. I'm Ack. I currently reside in Atlanta, GA. I've searched these forums in the past for information but finally decided it was time to register and get to know the knowledgebase. My favorite games include Final Fantasy VI, Team Fortress Classic, and Silent Hill 3, though there are many, many games that I love and adore. I currently collect actively for the NTSC-U SNES, but I have recently begun a Neo Geo Pocket Color collection and have slowly built up collections for other consoles and PC. In real life I work for Turner Broadcasting. I've been playing video games for nearly as long as I can remember, and I am a moderator for the forums at Racketboy.com.

Hi everyone, I just dropped out of art school to pursue a business selling video games, which is going very well although I am still in the early stages!
Found this site trying to value stuff, and this is literally an invaluable resource from what I can tell.
I collect mostly Nintendo but my favorite system of all time is the Dreamcast because it does not receive enough recognition for launching the world into modern gaming as we know it. Don't have much right now, but looking to expand my personal collection rapidly. But at one point in my life I had it all. 13 Consoles (this was pre-xbox360 era) over 300 games... This is where my bitter hatred against Gamestop comes in, because all that stuff does not belong to me anymore. Was a stupid kid and I really wanted an xbox 360. A year later it got the red ring, and then I had nothing.

Systems I have are
SNES
N64
Wii
Dreamcast
And the pride of my game collection is in these
SNES-
Starfox 2
Super Smash TV CIB

DC- Cannon Spike
Caution Seaman CIB

I also have a gigantic wooden N64 coffee table I found on eBay.

In the outside world I work at a second hand media store, where I run Video Games and Comics. Good deal right? It is my inspiration for wanting to get into the business for my own profit.
Anyways, excited to have found this site, and hopefully I will learn and benefit greatly from it! Thanks!

- Who you are

My name is Drew. I'm an on-again-off-again sort of collector. I prefer to just read about stuff now that I don't have exorbitant amounts of college money to spend.

- Where you live

Murfreesboro, TN.

- How you found the forums

I think I happened upon the site while looking for rarity guides many years ago.

- What your favorite games are

Ys. King of Fighters. Fatal Fury. Xenogears.

- What systems you collect for

These days just 32x, Saturn, 3DO, Sega Pico imports, and Sega CD. Up until recently, I did a bit of Virtual Boy and NeoGeo collecting, but the adulthood wasteland claimed those.

- What you do in "real life"

I work at a gas station. I've worked at independent video stores and video game stores, before. I have a BS in public relations, but I'm not doing anything with it.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

One day I decided I wanted a Sega Genesis again, then I got a CD, and a 32x eventually. Then I got a 3DO. Then a Laserdisc player. Then I got a Japanese Sega Pico and a Casio Loopy. The rest is history.

My name is jboybdayboy.

- Where you live
I live in the middle of California

- How you found the forums
I found an amazing thread started by this awesome person named PSony.

- What your favorite games are
Would probably have to be Mystical Ninja for the N64. Games in the top 20 list would be Contra 4, Dark Souls, F-zero GX, Sf4. Might have to add CastleVania bloodlines to the list, that game just recently got me hooked on the Sega Genesis.

- What systems you collect for
I just recently got hooked on my Gamecube, went ahead and bought a Component cable for it to show my love for it. I already have a pretty good collection of games for it from over the years when the system was the "new" console. A couple years ago I while walking home from school, I found a like new Mega Man X collection at Good will for 3.26.

:help: my name is Chris aka babywuchki. I've been stalking these forums for about a decade and have finally joined up. I actually think I joined up a long time ago but I don't remember what my sign on info was and I go by a different ID now anyway.

My main objective is collecting CIB NES Black Box variants of all regions. Also go for all Hang Tab box NES, and other random early CIBs of games I like. And to a lesser extent I collect loose carts to play. I do occasionally buy stuff for other systems if I come across something I want to play but very rarely.

My favorite NES game is Sqoon. I know its not every bodies top pick but its got that special something that really appeals to me. I mostly like to play early NES games, thus the reason I love to collect them most.

Personally, I am a single dad and work full time. I am raising my daughter to be a gamer and she loves NES even though the iPad is her favorite game system. I also work full time.

Hey, everyone. My name is Ryan, and I'm 23.

Growing up, we had an NES early on until my sister decided one day that she didn't like that I was playing it instead of playing with her. She therefore jumped off the couch and destroyed it. My parents swore they would never buy us another video game system again. Fortunately, my uncle hadn't heard of the incident, and I got a Sega Genesis for Christmas that same year.

Since then, I've kept the Genesis, though gaming has been something that no one else in my family is very into. However, I've slowly worked on building my collection. I've since gathered another NES, a SNES, and an N64. I'm currently working my way through as many SNES RPGs as I can.

My name is Ehsan and I'm 28. I now live in karaj, Iran

I have been playing video games for more than twenty years now and have collected a very handsome number of consoles and games over the years. My favourite console of all time is psx and I'm very interested in jrpg games and whatever Ico Team makes.

Damn I think I'm really addicted to games. I remember breaking up with my girlfriend just because of it. She insisted that I didn't spend enough time with her never payed attention to what she said blah blah blah

She could never understand that I WAS a very busy man. I'm a part time student I work a job and OF COURSE I play video games I do NOT have the luxury to spend my precious time with her. When she finally left me I was very sad but at least kept my hobby and joy. That's a victory :)

Hey everyone!

My name is Ben. As of recently I've begun to go by the name 'Vidmusc' on the internet. I've been looking for a pretty long time, and I feel like this might be the one I'm looking for. I'm from the United States. Ohio to be exact. I haven't moved out of Ohio, and plan to change that eventually. I found the forums through the Retron 5 review thread being linked on Hyperkin. I started reading through the forum a bit, and it seemed like a pretty interesting forum. When it comes to my favorite games I really don't know where to start with that. If I had to choose an absolute favorite it would be Kingdom Hearts II. There's just something about that game that I absolutely love. I currently collect for GameCube, Wii, Xbox, Xbox 360, Dreamcast, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PSP. I hope to add DS, 3DS, N64, NES, SNES, Genesis, SCD, and the Saturn eventaully, along with Wii U and PS4. I started collecting around 2010 or so, after I discovered YouTube channels such as PeteDorr. The concept interested me greatly, and I decided I would invest in game collecting as that's what I love. I also recently started collecting rock / heavy metal CDs (bands I enjoy), and soon hope to continue my anime / manga / comic collection. Outside of the internet I'm still attending high school. I'm a junior, and well... Me and school don't get along very well. Just recently I got my first job at Walgreens, in which I work checkout. And yeah. That's about it. Hope to enjoy my stay here! :)

- Who you are

I'm Merc AKA Jeff, I like others ran into hard times and had to sell my collection, I kept some of the more sentimental stuff like my Dreamcast, but I'm back to collecting again, I've picked up where I left off with DC games and now working on PS2 games!

- Where you live

I was born just outside of Boston and contracted wanderlust at a young age, by 17 I was signing my name on the line and shipping off to boot camp, that was 26 years ago. I moved to the Western Slope of the Rockies in Colorado in 2002 and have been here ever since!

- How you found the forums

I am subscribed to Pete Dorr's Youtube channel and he made mention of this site a few times, at first I thought he was talking about a publication that lists games and prices and such, but here I am!

- What your favorite games are

My favorite game now is Rock Band 3, I'm a drummer in real life and got my son Guitar Hero 2 for his birthday, I had no intention of ever playing a fake plastic guitar game but playing it with my son got me hooked and I found myself at Best Buy on Rock Band launch day shelling out for the full band bundle and haven't looked back since! I've also recently finished my PS2 Guncon collection with the exception of Time Crisis 2 and really love the old arcade shooters! I am also fond of the fishing controller and Sega Fishing games for DC!

- What systems you collect for

I collect for everything but focusing on DC and PS2 right now!

- What you do in "real life"

After I was discharged I got into construction and built houses for almost 24 years until a catastrophic leg injury forced me to apply for VA benefits just to have them tell me I got PTSD and need to talk to somebody, turned out they were right, explains a lot of my erratic behavior and nightmares. I'm also a drummer, left the last band I was in last February because I got into it with the keyboardist, that's another thread though!

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

My ancestors on my fathers side were all pirates, Privateers is the actual term!

Crystals of Zong, Impossible Mission, Kings Quest III, Zork II, Beneath A Steel Sky, Star Control 2, X Wing Fighter, Myst, Zaxxon, Commando, Ultima IV, Quest of Avatar, Ikari Warriors 1&2, Lode Runner, Baldurs Gate, Legendary Wings, Kid Nikki Radical Ninja, Diablo 2, Lords of the Realm, King of Fighters, Shadowgate, Faxanadu, Scheherezade, Rtype, Shining Force, Raiden Fighter II, Outrun, Ridge Racer, Silent Hill 1&2, Metal Gear 1&2, Ico, Shenmue 1 & 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Skies of Arcadia, Record of Lodoss War, Grandia 2, Metroid Prime, Dragon Quest 8, Fallout 2 & 3, Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Mass Effect 2, Demon Souls, Modnation Racers, The Last of Us

- What systems you collect for

I don't collect much anymore, but am looking for classics and suggestions for Game Boy Color. Other than that I have an NES turned into a MidiNES that still plays games, a Nintendo DS with 3 games Dragon Quest 6 & 9 and Korg DS-10. I still keep a VGA setup Dreamcast and am always looking to try GD Roms from that scene.

- What you do in "real life"

After church, that's when real life begins!

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

Hey there guys, I'm recently new here in the forums. Here is a bit of info about myself: :)

Who you are
My nickname is Crest, that's all. I can't remember how I ended up with that nickname. I am currently around my early 20s, trying to get a college degree that will land me a well-paying job to support my needs (as well as increasing my gaming collection without going in debt:|).

Where you live
In good ol' Los Angeles.

How you found the forums
I randomly found the forums while searching for "unlicensed" Famicom, SNES, and Mega Drive/Genesis games. That is when I found out about this website (about a year ago), but I barely opened my account around a month ago after navigating through the website.

What your favorite games are
There's too many to choose from, but here are some of my favorites: Super Mario Bros. 3, the classic Sonic games, Final Fight, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and some of the Mega Man games. When I don't play retro games, I'm mostly playing either Grand Theft Auto or some overrated game like Call of Duty at a friend's house (since those are the only "appealing" games they have when I visit them:()

What systems you collect for
The only gaming systems I'm collecting for at the moment are the Sega Saturn, Game Gear, Playstation 1 and 2. I'm starting to collect again for the Dreamcast and the Game Boy Advance as well. My main collecting system, however, is the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. Although I remember playing the system with my cousins back in the day and even asking my parents for one, I didn't purchase one until two years ago. I ended up buying a Japanese Mega Drive 2 (w/Puyo Puyo) instead and ever since, I have not regretted on buying it. Most comes from the Japanese MD library, mostly because of the more appealing look of the boxes (it makes them look nice when they are stacked on display), various game exclusives that never came out of Japan (or at least never released on Genesis format), rarity, and sometimes, different content (compare the Japanese Bare Knuckle 3 or Dynamite Headdy to their American versions). There is just something unique about the Japanese MD that I can't really explain why. I'm planning to collect for the SNES and PSP when I have a chance.

What you do in "real life"
Besides collecting retro games, most of my time is dedicated on college. For the next three months, I have to restrict myself from games due to heavy loads of homework. :( Outside of that, I would also spend time with friends, either having a small party, hanging around at a park, or walking around the streets of Hollywood or Downtown. I am also trying to raise funds on either buying new parts for my car or buying another, more gas efficient one.

Anybody wants to know more about me, feel free to message. Hope to be more in communication! :)

Hello everyone !

My name is Ludovic and I live in Quebec, Canada !
I'm french, so I apologize for my bad english ^^

Just like you, I'm a gamer and I love to collect video games !
As far as i remember, I always collect special package, special or collector edition.

But two years ago, I decided to focus on my favorite saga : Final Fantasy !
Just to see what I can achieve when I concentrate my effort.

In this adventure, I discovered the beautiful world of collectors, and subscribe to french forum like edition limited.net.
But I live in Canada, so it's a a little to far...

So I ask for a major forum on North america, and a member tell me about you !

And then I'm here, ready to discover your treasure and share mine !

See ya on a topic !

I've been collecting games for only about a year now, but I've been a gamer most of my life. I own over 400 games right now, and I collect for 20 different systems:

Atari 2600, Colecovision, NES, Sega Master System, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Game Gear, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Advance, N64, SNES, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS1, PS2, PSP, Gamecube, Wii, and DS.

My largest collection is for the NES, my fav console, and the first console I ever played as a kid. I was 5 and my uncle owned one back in 1991, first game I played was Super Mario Bros. Obviously. I have over 100 NES games, and managed to get them all for less then $20 each.

I live in Connecticut, and I got into collecting about a year ago when watching the Angry Video Game Nerd videos. Just kinda inspired me. I already had a start with my original Genesis and NES, with a buncha games, a stack of PS1 games I just never got rid of, and my 360. I prefer to collect retro games then new ones, but I love new games, too. Also, new games will one day be retro.

Like the forum, I kinda wanted to find something like this, but all the ones I've found were all European, so this is cool. I get most of my games at retro game shops, theres a bunch in CT, and thrift shops. I try to steer clear of Amazon or Ebay if I can, but if theres something I simply can't find anywhere I will grab it online. Plus, who wants to pay for shipping and hafta wait??? That's no fun!

As for favorite games, that always changes, but for years my favorite game of alltime was always Metal Gear Solid, on PS1. It was the first game I ever actually beat, on my original grey Playstation. Back then it wasn't called "PS1" cuz there was no PS2. I just remember being blown away by it. The 2nd and 3rd are great also.

I also love platformers. I love Megaman, the 2D Sonics, Kirby, most action games, puzzle games, I love artsy games like Catherine or Shadow of the Colossus, Katamari obviously, just about anything weird. I love collecting weird, bizarre retro games like Space Shuttle Project on NES. Why that game was made, I don't know. But it's hilarious and awesome. I've been warming up to RPG's, for years I never had the patience for turn-based battles, I had some real ADD as a kid, but Final Fantasy 13 is turning me on quite a bit, and Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast was also excellent. I also love shooters like Lifeforce and Gradius, so much stuff.

Hello. I just wanted to give a quick intro. There have been many times that I found useful info on here so I thought I should finally join. I've been a sega-16 and a segaage member for quite some time. With that said, I'm big into sega stuff, Genesis to Saturn anyway. I've been collecting retro games for about 3-4 years. I grew up in a house where we were not allowed to own a video games system until I was 16. At that point we got a genesis 3 for $29.95 at Meijer. I had played the genny many times before at my brother-in-law's place and loved it. I still love it to this day. Hope you all are cool with me being here. I'm not just another person trying to avoid ebay fees when selling his/her stuff so I think we will be fine.

Name's Kurt. I live in Alabama and I'm an avid video game enthusiast, especially when it comes to retro gaming. I grew up as part of the "PC Mustard Race" while also enjoying the delights of what the Sega Genesis had to offer. I'm very partial to Shmups, Beat-Em-Ups, Run 'N Gun Shooters, SNK Fighting Games, Racing games (especially Arcade ones), and Arcade Style games in general

I'm something of an aspiring amateur writer and artist. I also enjoy Period Drama Films and Movies that are set in the olden days of Japan when Samurai roamed, Japanese Super Hero Programs (think Power Rangers), extremely awful movies, Hacker culture, the Cyberpunk genre, and reminiscing, as I'm very interested in 80's and early 90's culture. I have very broad sensibilities when it comes to music and will listen to just about anything with the exception of fast modern country, bluegrass, and R.E.M. style alternative rock.

I'm kind of between jobs at the moment, but for the most part I'm a customer service rep and enjoy helping people to the best of my abilities

Hi im jamie 34 a bloke and im from Newcastle upon Tyne,England.

I first had an atari 65xe back in 85 a christmas present, shame atari was dead in the uk by then, however i was lucky to have a japanese friend who had a sharp twin famicom and smb's blew me away and started this sickness we all seem to have of collecting.I have owned every sega console and most nintendo machine's except virtual boy and both wii's,i have a commodore 64,spectrum 48k,amiga 500,600 and 1200.
At the moment im trying to focus on my still growing jap saturn library but seem to turn focus on some other system or pointless curios from japan.
In the real world i am a floorlayer but my heart yearns to just up sticks and bugger off to japan someday.
Hmm what else...im trying to get a decent pc duo collection started but everytime i have the money i seem to fritter most of it on games that i will rarely play, however i have hope a duo will enter my life at some point just as it seemed to happen when i stumbled on my this is cool saturn.
I will tell you all that quitting drink and drugs is easier than kicking the collecting habit(i am now sober for 10 years but i cant stay away from classic games).
Maybe im just crazy haha but i digress, anyway i look forward to getting to know the peeps on here peace out.

Good evening!

I'm Geo, I came across this forum from researching video game shelving ideas (new apartment very soon, less space for the collection and all) and I heard a lot about it from other forums (classicgameroom, neo-geo).

I'm born and raised in Queens NY but now live in CT. I work as a personal trainer in the mornings and in a psychiatric community at night as well as being an officer in the New York Army Reserve as an Engineer (Essayons!)

Been gaming for almost 20 years now and I'm into nearly everything. The games that mean the most to me are
-Shadow of the Colossus
-Ocarina of Time
-Chrono Trigger
-Super Mario World
-Mega Man X
-Sonic 2

Looking forward to meeting new people and contributing to the boards

Hey everybody, I'm Enrique (but you may call me Kike), from 07-12 I was a Systems Analyst working for a door/window manufacturing company at their (then) Lowell, Indiana factory. After the factory shutdown I rellocated to Monterrey, Mexico where I'm an IT manager at the same company.

During those years when I lived in the States is when the retro collecting bug bit me. In 2008, ten years after I sold my Genesis, I got me another one. Since then I've acquired a number of consoles like the Saturn, Sega Master, the Sega CDX, the PC Engine, etc.

I began with the NES (I still have my original one), then got the Genesis, (briefly) the PSX, the Dreamcast (the best console ever), the Xbox, the X360 and more recently the WiiU.

Besides videogames, I enjoy hiking, reading a good novel, and overall discovering new places and meeting new people.

I'm eager to contribute and help as much as I can.

Regards.

Hello everyone!!!!
:onfire::deadhorse:My name is Justin Gray, from Amory Mississippi. I am 31 years old and have had a love for video games since I was a kid. The first system I ever played was an Atari 2600. Frogger, Pitfall, Asteroids etc. I'm sure everyone remembers those classic games. Anyways over the years growing up I've owned an atari 2600, SEGA Genesis, Nintendo 64, Atari Jaguar (C) & (CD) and a PS 1 & 2. Well after having the Jaguar for about a year, or so, one of the neighborhood kids ended up breaking it on accident one day. Of course even at that age I wanted to hurt that kid.

So life went on and I owned several gaming consoles some even more than once I had to buy, but not the Atari Jaguar. I was pretty bummed when Atari closed the doors because I knew that meant that I would never see one again, and I didn't. I had since forgotten all about that system until a couple of months ago when I came across one on eBay. It was nonworking but cheap and I thought I might be able to fix it. I couldn't but ended up finding a brand new drop in motherboard replacement from "www.bestelectronics.com" and ever since then I've been buying Jaguar merchandise like crazy.I actually plan to own every game ever made for this system both cartridge and CD! BEST is also where I purchased my refurbished Jaguar CD console. Ok well thx for reading y'all......n yes.....I'm a Jaguar collector

Hi my name is Jay and I still love video games! There was a period where I lost interest in videogame collecting and video games in general. I had to sell off some of my collection during the great economic recession. Least to say, I was devastated cause I worked hard for it. I was also dissatisfied with the quality of current gen games released around 2010-11 which led me to stop buying videogames altogether for a few years...

Until recently, I bought a PS4 in February. So far I've mostly enjoyed it while trying to convince myself not to be cynical. While I'm waiting for a good PS4 game to show up I have been busy playing Dragon Force on my Sega Saturn. I will always have a soft spot for retro video games and looking to get back into videogame collecting

- Who you are

My name is Chris, and I am a gamer that has been heavily into RPGs, platformers, and action/fighting games for too long. (I know, unique right?)

- Where you live

Actually, I live in a place that is very well suited for the style of gaming I am into, JAPAN! I have a modest collection back home that was put together over time without even really realizing or making a conscious effort at "collecting" then. In Japan now though, my collection is all JPN. The hunting you can do here is amazing and the amount of times I have come across just hands down awesome stuff is encouraging to say the least.

- How you found the forums

I am a member of the GameCollecting Reddit community (as RetroRonin on there) and found a link to this place there. I have been looking for a forum like this to join for a while now.

- What your favorite games are

This is an extremely hard question, as I am sure it is for many of us. My favorite systems are Super Nintendo and Playstation. The games that I can put in my favorites are probably...

Secret of Mana
Super Mario RPG
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy Tactics (Amazing story and quotables for days)
Final Fantasy 7
Star Ocean 2

- What systems you collect for

I try to focus on Famicom, Super Famicom, Playstation 1 and 2, Sega Saturn, and N64. These are all JPN versions obviously as I am Japan. I am extremely scared of what my shipping charge is going to look like to get all of this stuff back to the states.

I am big into hunting for Japanese Exclusive rare stuff. For example, I sold a Hanshin Tigers Gamecube with the extremely rare Jersey included to a fellow reddit member not too long ago. Was an insanely rare find. I will have something very cool and JPN exclusive up in the Marketplace sometime soon after I organize as well. :)

- What you do in "real life"

After spending time studying abroad in Japan first and finishing college, I moved out to Japan about three years ago to work and live. I work as a civil servant and teach English as well. It's a very interesting gig so far.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

I speak/understand/read/write at a decent level and am currently in the process of choosing a game to do a fan translation of. Preferably on the SNES. If you have any suggestions of something that hasn't been done, feel free to shoot me a message and let me know.

Nice to meet you all, hope to be around for a while!

- Who you are

Hi everyone! I'm Matt, and I am an avid collector/video game player! I absolutely love Japanese video games, JRPGs, platformers, and Shmups. I also really love music & video game music, anime, writing, and watching TV. ^_^ My favorite game companies are: Squaresoft, Sony, Nintendo, NIS America, Falcom, XSeed, GUST/Tecmo Koei, SEGA, ATLUS, and Vanillaware.

Favorite Consoles:

Console - Playstation 3
Handheld - Playstation Vita
Retro - Playstation One

- Where you live

I currently live in Philadelphia, PA.

- How you found the forums

I found DigitalPress via YouTube and while looking up PS1 Hidden Gems.

- What your favorite games are

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness
Pokemon Pearl
Final Fantasy V Advance
Chrono Trigger
Metroid Fusion
Metroid: Zero Mission
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy Tactics
Paper Mario
Star Ocean: The Second Story

- What systems you collect for

Nintendo 3DS, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, GameCube, Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Playstation, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation Portable, Playstation Vita, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Wii, Wii U, Xbox, & Xbox 360 (Heavily contemplating on getting an Xbox One...)

Other - Merchandise, Soundtracks, Japan/PAL Import Games.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

I started collecting because after I bought Disgaea: Hour of Darkness from the PS Store, I realized that I had wanted so many RPGs on the PS3. Then it went to PS2, PS1, and DS etc. RPGs is my genre and I hold it to a very high pedestal. Then I when I was making my PSOne list, I saw that I wanted to get every PSOne (US released) JRPG. Skipping forward into the present, I had eventually decided to collect every US Released Japanese Role-Playing Game on all Sony Consoles (PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4).

I'm a HUGE fan of Nippon Ichi Software (NIS America). I'm currently trying to create an Atelier, Disgaea, & Hyperdimension Neptunia series shrine; given that they're my favorite series. (At the moment.)

When I was a kid we only had an NES until the N64 came out. I had a neighbor-mom across the street who got a SNES for her kids. She refused to let me play it because it was "too expensive for children to touch".
I didn't realize it then, but that put a hole in my heart that could only be filled by me owning my own SNES. It's been years, but I've finally gotten one and have started to collect games for it. I've painstakingly taken each of the controllers the used SNES came with apart and soaked each of the plastic parts. I cleaned the circuits with alcohol and rotated the pad under the YXBA buttons so that what used to be under B was now under X and so forth. This will hopefully lengthen the lifespan of the pad. I also fixed one of the shoulder buttons with superglue which had broken near the metal pole.
I couldn't be happier with my SNES, but the price of some games like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG are so high compared to the same games on the Virtual Console that I'm going to collect them for that system instead. This saddens me a bit.

05-18-2014, 09:51 AM
Hello to all of the two people reading this! I'm Ewan, better know by my internet alias Doc. Sarcastic. Currently living in sunny England!

I found the forums after searching for how to display GameBoy games, because their such a pain to display in any way, I then found someone who had his collection STOLEN so that's just awful.

I don't really have an all time favourite game, but some of my favourites are Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Strikers Football and Mario Tennis. None Mario titles include Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone and Crash Bandicoot Tag Team Racing. For other console games I like, I really enjoyed WWF No Mercy, Goldeneye 007 and F1 World Championship on N64.

Here's a list of Systems I collect for, little tight on money so I can't collect for much:

Nintendo 64
GameCube
GameBoy
GameBoy Colour
GameBoy Advance
Original Xbox

I was thinking about collecting for Xbox 360 but I'm putting that off due to the fact I want to focus on my retro systems, even though I don't have an Original Xbox.

I like writing books and playing games, especially terrible games like Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, Tarzan and much more! That's really all I do.

I started collecting after the Retro game shop near me began closing down and everything was on clearance, out of nostalgia's sake, I bought an N64 anf WWF No Mercy along with about 20 other games including Wave Race on Gameboy and Pacman Colour. That pretty much sparked off my collection, I dug out my old GameCube and games, stuck them on my shelf in alphabetical order and thought it looked quite nice. I wiped all my memory cards and I am playing through all of my games again.

Feel free to add me/message me if you want to talk about your collection or mine!

Hello, I go by the nickname of BTR and I'm an avid retro gamer from Europe.

I've discovered these forums while looking for information about the Retron 5.
While I like pretty much all retro consoles, I'm especially interested in Sega hardware and their games (Golden Axe, Sonic, racing games...)
Currently I'm looking for Mega Drive, Saturn and PC Engine games.

As far as modern games go, I've enjoyed some of the expermiental games, especially games that saw a release on Wiii, such as Elebits and Kororinpa.

I came across this site looking for gba/gbc/gb platformer recs and found it really helpful. I also saw things for sale and trade and thought that looked cool too.
I'm not a big console gamer, but love my gba and ds (and will play just about anything featuring a Mario character) and am always keeping an eye out for new things. Yoshi's Island is my favourite game.

See you around!

I'm based in the UK, and have known about the site for a while, but recently found myself poking my head in a little more and figured why not go the distance. I have already spotted at least one familiar face on here from other forums :)

I grew up with computers (an Acorn Electron, shortly followed by a BBC Master B), but what really helped shape my tastes was reading the legendary SNES magazine 'Super Play' back in the early 90s, which opened my eyes to importing, RPGs, anime, and goodness knows what else. These days my collection is spread across all regions and many formats both old and new, along with a small but quite satisfying selection of arcade boards. I will probably be digging around in your import sub section quite a bit!

- Who you are
Hi, I'm Joe.

- Where you live
Farmington, MN. It's a suburb of Minneapolis & St. Paul.

- How you found the forums
I don't recall. I've been lurking for a long time. I probably got here through google.

- What your favorite games are
I've been a big fan of the Final Fantasy series since FF 2/4. But RPGs in general. Platformers like Mario & Sonic. It's probably easier to talk about genres I don't typically go for: sports titles & FPS. There are exceptions, of course.

- What systems you collect for
Most systems. I'm not currently focusing on one in particular. Many of the major ones from the 2600 on. I think the only major 90s consoles I don't collect for are Neo Geo and Jaguar.

- What you do in "real life"
Front-end web development.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I was always a stickler for keeping the game box, manual, etc. in pretty good condition. So I've had that tendency since the SNES days. But I'm more into acquiring and playing games than strictly collecting (getting something in good condition or sealed is great, but not even remotely a requirement).

I'm also into system maintenance and modifications, especially to add new capabilities to aging systems.

Caleb here from Australia. I'm an iPhone developer and Nintendo enthusiast. I made a pokedex app called Oak. Now I'm working on a couple of apps for video game collectors. I hope you'll like them.

Hey, my name is mike, i live in NY. I've been to this website several times but never really looked at the forums i finally decided to join. i used to be a heavy NES lover, i recently ventured off into the world of turbografx, and just today i came a across a neo geo. so my path of gaming really doesn't stop anywhere. i collect mostly nintendo stuff but i have a lot of every system. theres a lot i don't have that i wish i could come across but finding anything in the wild in Ny is near impossible. resellers are everywhere. so retail gets a bit annoying when you can't come across good deals. but i look forward to becoming part of your community!

Hello, name's Neil. I'm an American, specifically from New Mexico, but I'm gonna move to California soon. I found this place finally getting into the whole what's the highest quality cable for the preHD consoles. This place had a lot of valuable information/opinions and I have trawled this place thoroughly with the search feature for info on cables. Favorite games are probably the whole Mother series and Planescape Torment. Currently, I only own a few Famicom, Super Famicom, GBA and GC games. I basically decided when I amass a fortune I'm gonna collect based on the region of the developer because I'm a language nerd and know quite a bit of Japanese and some European languages too, so practically all of the NTSC-U console games I collected as an American youth, which was a lot of games, I sold a couple years ago. I only own the 3 Mother games for their consoles (including a Mother 3 Deluxe Box, which I preordered, which is awesome), Super Metroid's Japanese release and only kept such as the Metroid Primes which were developed by Americans, etc. Otherwise, lately I just emulate some old stuff on an original Xbox and a PSP.

Hello, my name is Eric. I live in the eastern suburbs of Minnesota. I found this forum through an internet search.

My first video game system was the NES, I used $100 from my birthday as a kid and bought the Action Set at K-mart.
I also have the original Gameboy (it's in kinda rough shape). Also the SNES (my fave). Along with that I have an Original Xbox, coincidentally I won that from a second-chance giveaway at Taco Bell. My video game admirations have been revitalized in recent years by mostly AVGN.

Fave games, including types and series: Contra, Castlevania, The Legend of Zelda (Link to the Past is my fave), Puzzle games, Platformer/Sidescrollers, and FPS. I am not really into RPG games other than the Zelda franchise unless there is something very similar.
I also play some computer games but more of the old DOS games including: Doom, Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad, and Heretic.

I hope to expand more into other systems including: Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, PS1, PS2 and more as I see fit.
The newest game generation I have played was XBox 360 but I sold off my system, games and accessories because lack of interest.

I might not seem to be a full on gamer but I have been playing since I was a child and want to continue currently through adulthood. \\^_^/

- Who you are
My name's Mat!

- Where you live
I currently live in Arizona.

- How you found the forums
I've stumbled across these forums on multiple occasions while researching old games or consoles. After reading through a thread about Famicom cases, I signed up.

- What your favorite games are
Some of my favorite games are Fallout 2, Super Metroid, Star Fox 64, Mother 3, We Love Katamari, and Metal Gear Solid.

- What systems you collect for
I'm always getting games for any console I own, though I'm interested in getting more Famicom/PS1 games.

- What you do in "real life"
I sit around in my room. I recently dropped out of high school, so I'm in the process of applying for a GED test. As far as a career goes, I'm thinking of studying Japanese to become a translator.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
My first game was Super Mario 64. Before I was born, my family gave our NES/SNES to our cousin, who then sold them. As a result, I grew up mostly playing N64, PS1, and PC games.

Hi, I'm Mike from St Louis. I originally stumbled across these forums about 10 or so years ago trying to find information about an odd PS1 RPG I'd picked up called Tokyo Dungeon and seeing it mentioned in a Greg Wilcox article. I kept looking in to marvel at the awesome stuff in the "post your recent import pickups" thread.

I play all kinds of games from Emerson Arcadia 2000 to Xbox 360, but I skew heavily to games from the late '80s/early '90s. In recent years I've been buying mostly imports and arcade cabinets, but I never stop playing my NES and SNES. I guess I've got somewhere around 2000 or so games at this point, but I still think of myself less as a collector and more of an enthusiast, as I buy games to play them above all else, and I'm not trying to complete any sets or anything.

At this point, I'm more likely to buy games that I haven't heard of than those I have, and love to try something weird or unique. I never stop going back to my old favorites, though, even if they're a little cliché.

Some of my all-time favorites are:
Earthbound
Super Metroid
Castlevania: SOTN
Contra
Enemy Zero
Gate of Thunder
Zelda II
Keith Courage in the Alpha Zones
Retro Game Challenge
Super Mario World
Super Mario 64

Of course, there are many more. I'm not sure what my rarest game is at this point, but if I had to guess I'd say Sengoku 3 on Neo Geo AES. In the next couple of years I'm hoping to pick up my first pinball. Aside from gaming, I'm 34, happily married, and really enjoy science fiction, anime, board games, cartoons, and a few comics, so I'm pretty run of the mill for a game player.

Hello Guys & Gals I'm Timothy from Massachusetts. my first video game was Super Mario Bros. on NES in 1998. after that the pin connector soon failed and we got a SNES which introduced me to my favorite console of all time! I joined this website quite some time ago for the Retro Round Table rarity guides! My favorite game series is Metroid, but I find that being challenged by Gargoyles quest the past couple days! I Collect for most consoles NES and forward! I began collecting back in 2009 when I felt the urge to play some of my childhood favorites, and found myself unsatisfied with emulation! I also Run my own Gaming Page on FaceBook called "the Game Hub" if any of you would like to check it out you can find it through this link I go by Glacius~

Hey! I'm new here - my name is "Mario-fan." My all-time favorite game is Super Mario All-Stars (yeah, I know that's cheating) - specifically the 16-bit remake of SMB 3. So good. My other all-time favorite game is Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn for the Wii. That was my last great video game obsession - playing it for 10 hours straight til my eyes were totally bloodshot (Ha!). Fav video game composers...Tim Follin, Jonathan Dunn, Hiroki Kikuta, Koji Kondo. & some others too...like Naoki Kodaka, who wrote some amazing music for the NES. As far as collecting goes I'm mostly a Super Nintendo collector, tho not as much anymore as I used to be - I sold off a lot of my games for it, but I kept the good stuff. When I was an active collector I picked up a few gems along the way ...my most valuable games are Thracia 776 and Hagane (which I bought at a used game store for $4!!). In real life I work in a lab :\
Not too exciting but it pays the bills...
Ah, what else, oh yeah I ended up on the forum because I was looking to get into tape trading and collecting, mostly interested in collecting old Toonami stuff so if you know where I can get a hold of that stuff send me a PM!

Hi Everyone!

Just here saying 'Hello', and looking forward to contributing to some of the forums. Just a brief intro from me... I'm from England, and I've been a gamer since my parents bought me my first pong type TV Machine in the mid 70s. Then I graduated to Atari 2600, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64/128, Amiga, MegaDrive (Genesis), SNES, and then found emulation back in 1992 and went back to the beginning! ;)

I'm also a huge arcade fan, I still read about/play/watch arcade stuff everyday and can never get enough. The nostalgia 'pangs' get me everytime when I remember what a great and happy time that was to be alive - not a care, just sunshine and arcade games. Although we had some fantastic arcade machines here in the UK, I do envy a lot of you guys from the US, just watching back some of the old 80s arcade shows on youtube - I would have been in HEAVEN! :)

Because of my love of gaming, I actually pursued a career in games development which I still do today, but I'm firmly fixed in the classic era for my game playing. I'd really like to get involved in developing some emulation stuff at some point (artwise), but not sure what just yet.

Anyway, thanks for listening. Looking forward to chatting with you guys soon.
Tolls.

Hello! I signed up because I've recently started collecting games for older consoles.
My collection started at a convention back in May, where I got a Retro Duo and a small pile of NES and SNES games. Before then I had a small library of PS1 games but that's been growing even faster lately.
