Is it still possible to get a PSP at launch in March? My crappy EB and Gamestop here only have reserves for post launch systems and they dont know when they would get any in after them *shakes fist at stupid stores*. Any possibilities?

Just to let you know, you should be shaking your fists at "damn sony," seeing how they have the worst allocation skills in the history of gaming.

Might as well pre-order one anyway just to make sure you get one, regardless of when. You can always cancel your pre-order if you find it elsewhere on launch day.

I think Gamecrazy might have some. They were only selling through some horrid bundle where you had to buy it with three games, but I think Sony put the halt on it. You might want to check one in your area (if you have one).

One solution is not to pre-order but hit up stores that aren't taking deposits. Best Buy, Wal Mart, Target and the like will have systems available. The catch is you'll have to be their very early the day they put the systems out. I was able to pick up one of my DSes at Best Buy that way but I had to get there a little before 11pm and they started selling them at midnight. Call around a few days before launch and see how each store is handling it.

To be honest, IMO, i think this is one of Sony's techniques to develop hype for the system and a desire for it... they did the same with PS2, and the PsTwo

I have to admit that doing that IS fun as hell. I got my xBox midnight at Wal-Mart, got the last ticket in there at about 11:00. There were people that waited since 3:00 in the afternoon! I could t IMAGINE being in Wal-Mart for 9 hours.

Cmosfm: I've stayed in there for about 5-6 hours straight before.

So there's no sign that sony is selling the psp solo?

I couldn't imagine being in Wal-Mart for 10 minutes, let alone 9 hours. I'd just think that the sight of inferior chinese good and 50 cent hotdogs would be to much for me to handle for that amount of time. Anyways... Pre-ordering new systems can be half the fun in it's self. I just love being able to move people out of my way to pick up my new console on the first day. Case in point, when I PO my PS2 there was a whole line of kids waiting in line at EB trying to get one. One kid actually came up to me and ask me how many (PS2's) I was going to buy. After of course saying just one I ask if he PO his and he said he didn't, but just muttered he'd been waiting in line so long that he was bound to get one. Well, I walk into EB and pick up my already fully paid for system, while the kid who asked me about "how many I would be getting" was just told that becuase he didn't PO his system he was SOL.

:eek 2:

I think, seriously, I'd break into tears and huddle in a stall in the bathroom and cry if I had to stay in wal-mart for 6 hours. My wal-marts may be different than yours though, you may have tolerable ones. LOL

I got my PSP pre-ordered at EB, I know the manager, and I asked him "if I pre-order am I GUARANTEED one on launch day?" and he assured me I was.

I live in a small redneck town. So there really isn't a lot of stuff to do. It's called Jasper. 109 miles south of Knoxville. I would have gone crazy if I didn't live close to a kind of big city (Chattanooga).

Personally I'd recommend waiting till its been out a bit and Sony resolves all the bugs and defects that the first release is bound to have. Plus by that time you'll probably be able to pick one up without having to pay for bundled games and accessories that you have absolutely no interest in.

I don't think the hype/fever will be as great as PS2 launch, check eBay, there're many sellers offering PSP for $350 BIN and most of them don't sell, you have to wonder if the BINs were actually paid and followed through. Granted those are Japanese unit.

Case in point, EB and Gamestop will be out, same during PS One launch in 1995, you can probably get one at Best Buy and Target in the moring when it opens.
