Various notes and musings from me on things I've seen or gotten this last week.....

The Xenosaga Episode 2 Pre-Order bonus is now available for pick up. It's a DVD movie version of the scenes from Episode 1. Since it's been two years since I played and beat the game, I'll defentily be watching it to refresh my memory on what happened. :) Episode 2 is due out on Wed. The strategy guides are also allready out. The DVD has a nice limited edition case and includes game scenes from the second game. Be warned it's over four hours long, though.

I don't know if the 'stop selling' order of The Guy Game applies to the PC version as well as the XBox and PS2 ones. The PC version was just getting ready to be released when the court case was handed down. While I no longer saw any console versions in my local EB, I DID see several copies of the PC game, for $30. Perhaps the order did'nt include the as-of-yet released PC port, or they edited the girl out?

I asked the manager there, who I was really friendly with, about the special demo versions of Zelda: Mirish Cap for the GBA (the ones with the several playable stages on it and the special 'demo version' wording.) He said that, as much as he would love to take that copy home with him, the Nintendo rep had CLEARLY told him when he installed the game that they expected it back or there would be conquenses. :hmm: I think this version is going to be hard to get for the future......

The number of companies making new arcade games apears to be down to five -- Konami, Namco, Sega, Eletronic Arts, and Microsoft. What I saw for new games in the arcade, though, was impressive. I saw a few boxing games, quite a few shooting/gun games, some more DDR/dancing games, and a 'VR' game where you put on a helmet and used controls on the sticks attached to the helmet to control the game (in this case, a plane game shooting down enemy planes).

The arcade is taking part in a competion for the new game Tekken 5 on Feb 26th. There were MAJOR people around that unit (two units, two on each) probaly trying to get in pratice. The words 'Northeast Tournament' was used, making me think it's nationwide. You may want to see if your arcade has the game and is taking part. I guess this game is new since I had never seen it yet.

With that game, I saw something I have'nt seen in YEARS -- people 'calling' their games by putting a quarter on the corner of the gaming screen. :eek 2:

Finally, I saw a new 'classic' machine there, besides the Spaces Invader/Quix and Ms. Pac Man/Galaga one. This one had Centipede, Millipede, and Missle Command. I'm sorry to say I did'nt see who made the arcade game, though.

It's already difficult to see who would really buy and play The Guy Game on consoles, but who exactly thinks that a good time would involve gathering all his friends around a PC in order to play it?

Nothing new there. I've had a few Xbox retail demos pass through my hands, but Nintendo is notoriously stingy about their stuff, and I'm sure I'm not speaking for all Nintendo reps, but the one I've dealt with is unpleasant as hell. She wouldn't give a crippled crab a crutch.
