So, I'm on XBOX live now and the headset irritates me. It seems to be made for a kid and is not adjustable.

Anybody using anything other than the standard headset which comes with the year subscription and can make a recommendation?

Are you wearing it the right way? The bar goes over the back of your head, not the top.

If you are trying to wear it like "regular" headphones, then it will seem WAY too small..but it's not made to wear that way.

Anyway, any microphone/headset unit with an 1/8" phono jack will work.

I am wearing it properly, it just doesn't fit properly.

So, the headset isn't propietary in some way?

You can use any cell phone headset. After you use the standard one for a while, it'll stretch out. My head was too fat for it to start out, but the plastic stretched out a little over time. The thing you want to watch out for the most is the clip that keeps the speaker and mic on the headband, it breaks very easily.

There are a few 3rd party brands out there. Ive been told that the Halo2 headset, despite its funny look and cost is suppose to be really comfortable, and that just goes over the one ear, so no matter the head size your good to go.

After breaking one of the clips on my original XBL headset, I picked up a MadCatz headset for $5.00. It works just fine, and it clips onto one ear (you can decide which, and change later if you like), so even a fathead would have no problem.

I am a living bobble head and never had a problem with the Xbox Live headset. Now the PS2 one... that thing just doesn't want to stay in place.

Good to know there are alternatives though. Even better to know I'm not the only superdeformed person on these forums :)

Right now I'm using a phone mic as it's better fitting and better designed than the standard headset. Don't fall for the Halo 2 Special Edition Headset. It's not worth it. Sound quality is the same, if not for different designed ear buds which doesn't add a whole lot to the value. :/

im amazed this many people have problems with it

to me its so comfortable, and almost too big (there is plenty of extra space in the back that i cant let my head sit back against the couch, i have to stay forward or the extra space will push up and cause the things to slid forward off my ears), and im not some 12 year old that hasnt grown up yet, im 21 and my head is probably as big as its gonna get

I've got this one and it's great. Sticks in your ear and it doesn't feel like you are wearing anything. Very sturdy too unlike the official Live headset that snapped after the first month I had it. And for $5, you can't go wrong.

I wasn't able to find any Mad Catz headsets in the area.

I'd also like to get a headset with another communicator so my guest(s) can use it while we play live.

Anybody using that logitech wireless headset?

I have the Halo 2 headset, it rocks. It is a little different at first, but you dont even know its there after a bit of playing. The only bad thing is that it costs 50 bucks.

Cue , I like to use a phone mic. You can buy them in any style and they adjust ;) I cant remember the size jack needed , but I think it says it somewhere.
