View Full Version : Strange things happening on my Japanese XBOX?

I have a launch Special Edition (black skeleton) Japanese XBOX and a US HALO edition XBOX (both are factory units and have never been modded). It never crossed my mind to try the different region games on the systems.

Tonight I accidentaly put my US Rouge Squadron 3 game into the Japanese XBOX, and I didn't even realize I had done so until it began telling me to create a profile as none was present. I knew I had played the game to about the halfway point so at first I thought I had lost my save file and then I realized I had the disc in my Japanese system. At first I didn't really know what to think. Then I decided to try a few other games to see if it was just a fluke. I tried:

Ralisport Challenge 2 = OK
Halo 2 = OK

I thought I was on to something and that all of my US games would work, but when I tried Burnout 3 it wouldn't work. I just got the message that this was not the correct disc for the XBOX. So is this common knowledge? Are these games region free? Is it my XBOX? Does anyone else HAVE a Japanese XBOX? I still have a bunch of games I want to check. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

There are quite a few XBox games that are region-free. I don't have a list handy, but it shouldn't be too terribly hard to Google one up. Hell, I probably found it in the first place from a link on these forums.

Yeah i've got to agree here, you've got no credibility because your mistake never could've happened. Short of pictures you're not going to get any of us to beleive that one. But you are right about the Jap xbox playing US xbox games. here's a thread containing a list of some region free games:

my US Rouge Squadron 3 game

LOL

Come on, you don't believe me? Sorry about that. I was just going to bed and was not thinking to clearly when I typed that. What I meant to say is: "Rainbow Six 3".

I will try a search and see what I can find. I never realized there were so many region free games. Thanks for the info.

Wow, way to be jerks guys. Considering that the Star Wars series has 2^453453 games on different systems with different names, I'm not shocked that someone could mess one up in a description.

and considering the hoopla over SFA being region free, I doubt that this could just be spouting BS. Be kind to the noobs until they give a GOOD reason for a smackdown. This ain't it.

I kind of figured you screwed up the names. Like i said it'd take pictures to make us beleive that you were playing Rogue Squadron on a jap xbox. I ment to say that that part of your post had no credibility not the whole thing. I didn't doubt that you had actually played a US game on your Jap xbox, though. You should have a fairly easy time finding a list of more games. The one i posted was the first one i found using google, but there are lots more.

ok maybe I was too harsh
but i'd understand it more when he messed up 2 different Star wars games and not "rouge squadron 3" VS "rainbow six".

anyways......yeah there are several regionfree xbox games
THIS ONE (http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/showthread.php?t=11110) for example.
