Is there any way to automatically mark all items in a search as "owned", and then go back and unmark the few items you don't have? This would make the bigger lists much less daunting. Either way, this service is just another confirmation that no other site does as much for the gaming/collecting community as DP does!
Indeed, that's an easy one and in our next batch o' updates. Glad you're already getting good use of this first generation tool! It's going to get so much better, too.

I'm getting a weird error. I did a search for all TG-16 games, except for non-U.S. releases and Homebrews. It gave me three pages of results. The first page was fine. At the bottom, it said Page 1 of 3, so I clicked Next. Then I got a blank search page that said "Page 2 of 1."
I went back to my original search query and tried it again and got the same result. Is it just me?

A couple of suggetions:
I think it would be great if we could change pages from the top of the page. Now that we can update from the bottom of the page, we get bumped to the top after updating, and just have to scroll down again!
Also, if it was enabled so that a range of games could be selected, using the shift button, or some other mechanism, I think many would take advantage of it.

Double click listing would be useful. If I want to list games by system, I generally also want to have them listed alphabetically within each system too. Makes life a lot easier when looking through.
Which also prompts... shortcut links. Have a detection script to see what systems someone has listed and then produce links up the top/bottom so if you want, you can just see what they have for that particular system.

Whoever is in charge of the gamecube list has seriously fallen behind. Paper Mario, Donkey Konga, Alien Hominid, and Star Fox Assault are all missing, along with the Pokemon and Metroid Prime 2 demo discs. I can understand Assault, but the rest have been out for a while now.

These have already been mentioned in the Collector Guides and Rarity Database forum. Check out the post there to see if you need to add anything.
BTW, Orrimarko was doing the list, and as we all know he was having some family troubles with his son, so it's understandable that its so far behind.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Digital Press for offering this service to gamers. Now I can stop using that crappy IGN list!

I was working on my list, and I accidently updated my list twice on the same page without changing anything, and after that whenever I tried to go to a new page of games, I got a strange page of computer code instead. I had to close the browser and mess with stuff a bit before it worked again.
It would be nice to be able to have all the games on any given list in a more dense, one page format. I have to admit that the black and red backround got kind of hard on the eyes after a while.

just curious, are all PS2 games in the database? I have 72 games and I carefuly checked them off but only about 55 are shown on my list.

I find that most curious...With the exception of Capcom Evolution, Cubix, and the Way of the Samurai misname, I was very certain I got them all. Could you post a list of those that don't show up? I'd greatly appreciate it.

I saw that thread after I posted that, so I gotcha.
Of course, I don't know anything about orrimarko's problems, or even that he was in charge of the cube list, so I suppose I wouldn't have been aware anyway.

Are arcade machines going to be added to the database? I just picked up Raiden Fighters 2: Operation Hell Dive on eBay last week to add to my VG collection!

All right! Posted my collection, want list, and trade fodder. Will the system eventually have a way of searching all members' posted collection/trade/want lists for individual items?
EDIT: Also, a way to navigate multipage lists (other than clicking "next" 8 times) would be schweet.

I'll probably use it when an easier to use UI is added.
Here's the perfect easy to use layout...
# Game Title Have Want Trade
1 Title 1 [ ] [ ] [ ]
2 Title 2 [ ] [ ] [ ]
3 Title 3 [ ] [ ] [ ]
Etc...Okay, so the CODE tag doesn't use Monospaced font like it SHOULD. You get the idea.
Having this would be a fast way for people who are adding a LOT of games. It'll be a pain for the people with huge collections. Just a suggestion.

I guess he means that the checkboxes should be to the right instead of to the left as they are right now - because you normally read from left to right, and it's easier to stay in one line if the checkboxes are aligned to the right and the title comes first :)

I dunno. I can't even get into the system. It tells me to log in. I'm already logged in. I'm cornfused.
On the top of the "Rarity Lists" page is a link. "Login HERE to access..." If I click HERE, it takes me to the forum, already logged in. What gives?

One other nitpick:
Some systems are listed with manufacturer name (Nintendo NES), and others are listed without manufacturer name (GameCube). This should be consistent.
And, yes, I know this is extremely trivial, but every little improvement helps make it better and better.

I think Nintendo is listed there because its another term people use for the first system instead of NES. Though I could be completely wrong ;)

Suggestion;
When looking at a person's collection add the total amount of games that they own at the bottom.
As well as the total amount for trades and wanted. Allows coolectors to know where they stand

there's always the same amount of games per page, look at how many pages the list has, multiply, voila, not the best solution i admit but works

People really should read a whole topic before posting. For example, I dont know how many times somebody has posted in this topic "could there be a notes section?".
Anyho, a few suggestions:
I agree with others who have asked for:
-multiple sort criteria (ie: by system then by title)
-a way to change pages at the top of the screen
-a way to jump to a scpecific page without having to click next 10 times
-collection, trade, and want list buttons at the bottom of everyones posts
-a link to my collection, trade, and want lists at the top of the screen (in the same bar as: screen shots, collectors list, game rooms, etc.)
Thats all for now. :D
Thanks!,

I just thought of something that could be a cool implementation, if possible. When checking our personal list, would it be possible to eventually add a randomizer option (ie. make, say, 5 items pop up at random from our have lists)? As a gamer, it'd force me to play some games that I may tend to ignore because they're not for the console currently plugged into the TV...

There's 100 per page. But I still think there should be an overall tally.

This is totally awesome! I have everything but my PlayStation list finished, but I need to go back and verify that there aren't any other games in my collection that aren't in the database yet. I only found one so far, and it's already been reported by someone else. Totally sweet that imports are in the database as well! You guys really did a great job with that section! I haven't found an import in my collection that's not in the database yet! I have a long way to go on my wishlist though. I think I'm gonna limit it to games I'm currently searching for, and add more as I get ones on my list.

Just added my whole collection to the system, right quick too. Really didn't take long. As long as we're suggesting stuff though, I thought I'd mention my personal biggest desires for the system.
1. Totals/averages for everything. # of games in collection, broken down by system, average scarcity, ect.
That'll do it ;) Great work guys.

If this has already been mentioned, I apologize - I searched for 'Dreamcast collection next', and found nothing that looked relevant.
I can't seem to load page 2 (or any of the following) when I search for any and all Dreamcast items. I click 'Next' at the top of the page and nothing happens. Thinking it may rely on some IE-only code, I tried using IE to view the page, and that didn't work either.
DC is the only system I have a respectable collection for, so I'd like to be able to enter my DC games. Please?
Thanks guys.

If you're using Firefox, then you probably need to upgrade. I had that problem with 0.9, but upgrading to 1.0 fixed it.

Shoot, you're right. I thought I'd upgraded, but that must have been on my laptop.
And I would have sworn I'd tried it in IE as well, but that appears to be working now.
False alarm. Sorry about that.

Adding my stuf as well. We need demo carts added as well like for snes, n64 etc, I have ken griffey jr's winning run nfr demo. also I have a couple of xbox demo discs that aren't listed as well metal arms, and rocky.
Be nice if we had a box to check if it was complete missing manual etc, and maybe a pictire of the box etc, hell I would pay for that myself.
Also need to be able to list how many we have of a particular game as well.

Because it's so variable we're adding a comment field for every game on your list. Pictures are coming as well (see the WonderSwan and AdventureVision sections for a preview), it's a long process but we're always working towards that.

Great work. Its nice to be able to see what you got.
Not sure if mentioned, but is it possible to add a button to select a random game from your collection. I allways want to play something, then sit in front of the bookshelf staring for a half an hour.
It would be nice not to think and just go grab a game and play it.

If you're referring to prototypes or betas of released games, you're right - there will not be a separate line item for these. We'll just give you a comment field where you can mention this.
If you're referring to demo versions of games, we include those. There's even a separate section just for them (see main search page "Sections").
Hope this helps clarify things.

ah yeah, i knew about that, i wasn't making myself clear... what my actual question is is this: what exactly is a demo, and what not? i always thought the mentioned snes demos were in fact full versions used to show the game in stores or whatever. now, with the dreamcast pal white labels, are they any different? you said i should not list those, but they are also full versions used for reviews and afaik for stores too. so where's the difference? or are the snes demos limited somehow? if they are i understand it, if not, well then not ;)

DP guides have never covered the PC and won't in the foreseeable future (as the guide only contains formats that used cartridges/CDs/DVDs/memory cards).

I don't know how they're different, but if they're betas or prototypes (or store demos) that are the same as the retail release, then they won't be included in the database as separate entries.

An idea...I don't know how hard this would be to program, but if a person could just enter in the game name and the system name on the "my lists" screen, then it could automatically detect which game they're speaking of and add it. It'd be easier than going through the checking process in the online rarity guide that is the current system.

I've thought about this before, but I'm not sure how the system would determine between US and non-US releases, or games with the same title and manufacturer across various systems (ie "Frogger/Parker Bros"). It would be more of a pain in the ass to us as collectors to ALSO have to enter the section, region the game comes from, game system, title AND manufacturer.
Hence, the checklist system. When such variances occur, you simply choose one.
Appreciate the thoughts though. Keep 'em coming!

Thank you so much for this awesome service!!
I have a few questions/comments:
1. Is there a way to group your games by System AND Title?
You know, so the games are alphabetized and in their respected categories?
2. Will we be able to mark the games as complete or not?
Sorry if these have been addressed ealier!
Thanks in advance! :hail:
