...what should I look for in terms of games? I've seen what's rare and valuable, but I'm more interested in what's really fun and worth owning/playing. Advice?

The Search button is your friend. It's a subject that's been done a dozen times.

You can't go wrong with Fantasy Zone though ;)

Awesome, I am glad you are choosing to get one of the best systems! Try all of the Wonderboy and Alex Kidd games if you like cartoony sidescrollers. Goldes Axe Warrior is like an RPG, so is Y's & of course Phantasy Star. All of the 3-D games are really great (if you have the glasses). So many I'm sure I'm the first of many, but I hope this gets you started!

The system I'm picking up has the adaptor for the glasses but doesn't have the glasses themselves. Perhaps I'll have to look into that, though.

Shinobi, Outrun, Alien Syndrome, R-Type, Space Harrier, Alex the Kidd (any of them will do) some of the gun games like Ganster Town or Rescue Mission are a good honorable mentions

Is the Montezuma's Revenge for SMS the same as the one made for the Apple IIgs (or possibly IIe)? I remember playing an amazing game by that name when i was in grade school, and I'd love to play it again.

Good to know...I'll keep an eye out for it. Has anyone played Time Soliders? That's the only complete game the store has, and I'll probably pick it up w/ the system if it's worth having.

There is a built-in game. Start the system without the game inserted, then hold Up, 1 & 2 simutaneously. It might be Snail maze, but it could be Hang On/Safari Hunt. it all depends when your SMS was mauafctured..

I have practically nothing to play on my SMS but Football games...Oh well..

Isn't that only on the SMS2 and later versions of the SMS1?

I have it. Good run-n-gun type of game. Worth checking out, but I don't know if I'd pay too much for it.

I'm pretty sure it was no more than 5 or so. That's under the DP price, so I'm assuming it's a safe bet.

My favorite SMS game was Phantasy Star, if you like RPG's then you have to get this one.

The 3D glasses are a bit tempermental, and they give me a headache after 1/2 hour or so.
