The NES Collector's Association is now open.

This simply means dirt cheap NES carts for all the ravenous 8-bit NES collectors out there. Enough ebay, let's do it our way.

I started this site because I am TIRED of seeing copies of contra go for $20 on ebay and elsewhere. We need to bring these prices down somehow, and the way to do that is auctions for .10 a pop with no comissions. I even give you $5 to work with on the auction when you register.

I can see how this is a great alternative to eBay for buyers. But why should a seller turn down a larger eBay profit by listing titles there? That's the problem with all startups looking to compete with eBay. Sure buyers would benefit, but sellers are going to sell where the money is.

I regretfully agree with the above post...sellers will go where the money is. And the problem IMO isn't with ebay, it's with the fact that people are willing to pay premium prices for many goods that don't deserve the high price tag. Ebay itself is a great tool and most of the sellers start items out at a reasonable starting bid, its the stupid people that drive up prices. Eliminate the people willing to pay $100 for a complete copy of Suikoden II and we'll be able to purchase games for a decent and fair price. Our best bet is to trade across forums like this one, where people cut fair deals and super-inflated items just don't sell like on ebay.

On a side note however, I really hope that your NES auctions take! I'm willing to participate, and love the idea of intellegent & reasonable people frequenting such a medium. As a matter of fact, as soon as I get a chance I'm going to bid on a few items you have for sale. :)

*screams at annoying loud midi that pops up*

*runs away from site*

Hey man great idea... but PLEASE get rid of the midi music. We really don't need background music while surfing. Thats why I have winamp.

But yeah that really is a nice slap in the face of ebay. Get the word out though. Spam Gamefaqs boards

Very similar experienc. Except the hairs on my arms raised from the surprise, then I didn't run, but clicked the little X in the corner of the window. My co-workers thought I was stragnling a baby rat over hre. I told them I was practicing my 2 note guitar solo.

To drive down the rediculous prices people have to pay for NES carts!!!

That is the point. I am selling MY OWN carts at crappy prices as an example. Hell, I'm about to part wih a copy of Final Fantasy in a clear, hard plastic Nintendo brand case for $1.50 for christ's sake.

if everyone is willing to bite the bullet a little bit, it will work to our advantage in the long run. Ebay is making a killing off of just posting fees alone, not to mention comissions. Why do you think people jack up the handling fees?

Cmon, if everyone is willing to sacrafice a couple of your copies for cheap, why not?

And duely noted about the sample, obviously you are not a megaman 3 fan....or a metal fan....sorry....

I'm sorry to be a pessamist about this but all I see happening from this is that people will buy your games from you at dirt cheap prices until you don't have anymore and then turn around and resell them on eBay for the real going price.

Another alternative which would have the same result would be to sell them on eBay at a low BIN price. After all, how are you going to drive eBay prices down by selling games lower on another site that nobody on eBay knows of?

Is this auction site only intended for people in the U.S.? I clicked on register and saw that there wasn't exactly an option for inputing which country you are from, only state, city etc.

If these are all your games, why are the zeldas only available for BINs of $10 and $8? Seems pretty average (ebay-wise) for cart only copies.

It's a classic "prisoner's dilemma." Except with two sellers instead of two criminals. It would be better all around if all parties drove down their prices, but that involves blind cooperation. If you can't trust the person on the other end, it's more rational to sell things at top dollar. Because while the outcome may not be *as* good if you're both a buyer and a seller, it's *safer* to sell high.

I can try to explain it, but this page also does it:
http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/prisoner-dilemma/

I'm just saying. It's a noble idea, but from a logic standpoint, it's almost guaranteed to fail.

I will look into that, as I thought I had to FORCE USA as my country. I will get back to you on this, because I want it to be global.

And I'm not asking that people sell their rare games for cheap, just the ones that aren't so rare. Like if you come up on a couple copies of contra for some reason for cheap, or have some unrare copies that you can part with for $2 or $3, that is what I am talking about.

And it's NOT limited to NES, I just have specific categories for NES stuff, you can seel whatever the hell you want (game related) up on there, from Odyssey on up to Xbox.
