Probably WarCraft III, I seriously have spent 1000+ hours on Battle.net in custom games.

Don't think I can really pick a single game, guess it would be among StarTropics (NES), Palamedes (NES), Illusion of Gaia (SNES), StarBlade (PlayStation / Arcade), and Daytona USA (Dreamcast).

Outside the realm of home ownership (at least for me right now) I'd say I've spent more total time of my gaming life playing Daytona USA in the arcade more than any other game.

I have no idea how many hours of my childhood were devoted to Chrono trigger, and I don't think I'd want to.

I've gotten lots of milage out of Baldur's Gate II. Between the original content and the billions of mods, I've played it enough times to practically memorize the damn thing.

Tetris Attack for the SNES, maybe. Probably the most addicting puzzle game I've played.

Another possibility could be Half-Life. I don't even want to count the man hours I've put into playing that game.

Easily, Street Fighter Zero 3 on the Saturn, or Street Fighter 2 Turbo for the SNES.

I have played those 2 games to death. My Saturn has in fact ceased being a "Sega Saturn". It is now a "Zero 3" machine.

Everquest. Every other game I've ever played combined cant even come close to touching the amount of time I spent in that fucking game. Not on, in. I no longer have my account, but I've still got the game and 3 of the expansions. I can actually tell you close to how much time I've spent on it too. It was somewhere very very close to 3,000 hours. Probably about 3,050 or so.

But if we're talking non-MMO, I'd say Chrono Trigger for sure. I got nearly every ending, including the one right at the beginning. What a waste of effort that was, Marle sucks and having to fight the end boss with her was a nightmare :/

Great Greed. I okay that game every few years and I must've beaten it 5 times already. It's too bad DS can't play the old Game Boy games anymore.

Oi, Final fantasy Tactics. I must have spent over a hundred cumulative hours on that.

And I STILL have no idea, storywise, what the hell happened.

04-10-2005, 10:58 PM
Some of you are confusing "most replayed" with "most hours put into a game". ;) I mean, I've put hundreds of hours into Star Ocean 2, but I've only played through it completely twice.

I'll have to go with a few others here and say Super Mario All-Stars. I haven't played it much in recent years, but when I was younger, I was playing all those games from beginning to end over and over constantly.

Lifetime: Has to be Super Mario 3. From the time I got it in early 1990, it got continous play until the release of the SNES almost 2 years later. I think if I were to not play that game for 50 years, then pick it up again, I would still have memorized every single nook and cranny of every level in that amazing game.

Currently: Kaboom! for the 2600. Since finding this game a year and a half ago, it's gotten constant regular play.

Well I have to say Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy 3 but Super Mario RPG back when I had it before I lost it got it's share of play.

and when i say that most replayable meaning I played through both of those games at least 20 times each, especially Chrono Trigger which I had almost completely maxed all characters.
Though I love playing Metal Gear Solid 3 been continously playing it lately

Though any RPG's for the super nintendo are one's that If i can get will be replayed until I go completely crazy :)

I've beaten Star Ocean 2 a total of... I think sixteen times. I can do the whole thing with my eyes closed by now and probably quote half the lines in the game before they're even said.

Final Fantasy Tactics is right up there too, especially since I got involved as a member of the FFT "challenge" community, wherein we come up with absolutely ridiculous ways to limit ourselves and make the game harder, then spend months on end trying to beat the game. As far as I know, I'm one of only two people on the planet (although you know those hardcore Japanese players) who has completed a Heaven Knight Solo Straight Character Challenge. Meaning, play through the game with only one person, Rafa, with no skills or abilities learned outside her base skillset, and an imposed level cap. That took me most of last summer alone, so I have a lot of hours logged into FFT, definitely.

Those two games I have spent the most pure time playing. I'm not sure which I spent more though.

Currently, I've been playing a lot of FFXI. It's an MMO that requires more time invested than probably even Everquest. It's... yeah. If I ever get to 75, it'll also be in contention for game I've spent the most time on.

I would have to say Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2 are probably #1 and #2 for me. But, Fire Prowrestling D is slowly making its way up there since I bought it back in October. It is almost the only game that I have played in the last 2 months. I think I'm addicted :eek 2:

I played SF2 and SF2 turbo for over 3 years straight on the SNES back in the day.
also my first video game console addiction was the Legend of Zelda on NES.

for arcade it would probably be a tie between the original Killer Instinct and MK2 back in the mid '90s.

Tony Hawk 2 is really really really high up there.

As anyone who knows me knows, I'd have to include DDR, beatmania, and Pop'n in a list like this.

Super Mario World, Super Metroid and Super Punch-Out!! have spent a lot of time in the various SNES systems I've owned.

esquire
04-11-2005, 12:36 PM
For me it has to be Baldur's Gate Dark Alliace. I won if for all three systems - XBOX/PS2/Gamecube and I have played and won it on each one, each time using a different character. Granted that's only 3 times, but that's a lot of gameplay considering it's a RPG.

So many people mentioning Diablo 2. It's making me want to play it again. Such a great, great game.

I stopped playing soon after the 1.10 patch, because they nerfed my Javazon to all but useless with that update, and it took me 50 years just to kill something, even with my Titans.

Metal Gear Solid hands down.

# of times this year i played MGS for PSX/PC: 3
# of times this year i played MGS:TTS: 5

although i've only played through it a few times in it's entirety, Contra owns over 150 hours of my life so far this year.

A lot of people seem to be mentioning RPGs, which is probably my most played, in terms of logged hours.. my most replayed game would probably be Dr. Mario for the NES. I've hit the power button on that game more than any other I can think of.

Hmmmm...

I was going to say easily Super Mario 3, which is probably the game I have played the most, but replayed over and over? I'd probably give the crown to Tempest 2000 on the Jaguar or NBA 2K1 on the Dreamcast. I played (and still play) T2K on a regular basis, and NBA 2K1 I played through 82 full games plus about 18 in my Championship run.

Lately, it has been MLB 2K5, which I have played approximately 50 games on so far while completely giving up all of my other new-gen titles. I'm playing (I think) an 81 game season, and I expect to finish it in a couple weeks. It's doing a really good job of making me feel like I'm a fool if I buy any more games right now!

K3V
04-11-2005, 02:19 PM
Probably a tie between Tempest 2000 and Tempest 3000 for me.

Nature Boy

I really wonder, because some of the Atari 8-bit games I still play I've been playing for like 15 years, whereas a game like Civ 2 has been around less but each game takes a *lot* of time to play.

I'd probably guess Civ 2.

WarioWare MicroGames on the GBA currently gets the most love.

But I'm enthralled by Lumines on the PSP. Level 99 and counting... must... get... all... skins...

For a sports game, I've spent lots of time on the Tiger Woods series.

MMO? Asheron's Call. Spent 2 years playing that. Still have my WoW account active too and that's taken up a lot of my time.

Of all time? Civilization. I've spent ungodly amounts of time playing that game. I'd go so far as to say it's the best PC game of all time.

Star Ocean for the PSX... do you remember that cave of trials. Even at level 166 with maxed out everything I still find it hard. On a side note - the programmers should have allowed one more decimal place for the HP and MP. I maxed both those out at 9999 (999 MP) quite some time ago and I still die every now and then at the end boss.

I also play Faxanadu.
