Recently picked up Judgement Silversword from an online store in Japan. I <3 Google translation tools. It finished my "trilogy".

Whoa, what IS that?! A... handheld PCE? I've never seen it before. And is that a TV tuner next to it? You could watch TV on it?! COOL!!Yup, a handheld PC Engine! It was also released in America as the Turbo Express. It's a BEAUTIFUL system. There's no blur either (unlike the Game Gear), as it uses a much better type of screen. It was about twice the cost of the Game Gear when it was released.

Judgement Silversword? I haven't even heard of that before. How much do copies usually go for? I have a WS-C, so I want it... unless it's expensive like the other two in the trilogy.

It wasn't too bad. I got Ikaruga for $50, Judgement Silversword for $86 (cheapest i found before that was ~$120) and Radiant Silvergun I believe I paid $122 (every other time I've seen it for ~$175).

Agreed. I have a TE that I need to replace the audio caps on, but I still love the beast! I vote keep it. BTW, Judgement Silversword was a homebrew contest winner in 2001, released 2004. So, its not a typical production game, but tons of fun.

You can actually get Ikaruga slightly cheaper on Amazon. Yes, the Japanese-released Dreamcast version. Complete for $44. Pretty crazy, imo.

Anyway, no pix cuz I'm lazy, but my newest import acquisition is serial experiments lain for the Playstation. It's not really much of a game. You basically direct a digitized version of lain around these rings that have different video and audio snippets (as well as key cards, pieces of a toy, etc) and you have to use the ones you can access in order to access the ones you can't. It would be really awesome if I understood Japanese. LOL It apparently tells a different story than the anime.

Some famicom games I ordered from Japan came in:

Battle Fleet
Famicom Wars
Daisenryaku
Daikaijyu Deburasu
Melville no Honoo
Little Magic
Just Breed
Battle Storm
Fleet Commander

(While all of them have boxes and manuals, the neatest one is fleet commander - it is an oversize plastic case and has a large cloth map with two sprues of small plastic ships and airplanes (in one color) - the map and the pieces are still sealed in a plastic bag. )

I just started looking around that site on the recommendation in here but... man... they seem seriously overpriced on just about everything. I started off looking at DC games, but even the cheap $5 ones are priced at $20 or more. They even have the US version of Alien Syndrome for the PSP for $37!!! XD Is there a good way to look through their stuff so I don't end up driven mad by the price gouging? (Seriously, because I did see a few games that are a good deal, but I sadly already own them.)

Possibly, though it would depend on price (I'm a little bit of a cheapskate). Was the Nazo Nazo a demo/giveaway too?

Yeah, their prices seem to be all over the place; I have no idea what they're based on. I did order Doremi Fantasy for $30 from them though, and their Shopping@Japan service seems to be competitive with other such services and MUCH less annoying (you don't even have to have an account with them!).

I thought I saw Doremi at $38 when I checked? $30 is a pretty good price for it. I ordered three things and stated I didn't want them if they weren't complete (Splatterhouse & Dracula-kun for the Famicom, and a WonderSwan game whose title escapes me atm). They were $20, $20 and $10, and I found that 10% off coupon (sadly, there was a 20% off one that didn't work). Those would be great prices if they're complete... The weird thing is, so of the games marked "new" were priced less than the used ones (that WS game for instance was called new and was $8 less than the used copy).

I did see a lot of crazy prices tho. I had bought serial experiments lain for the ps1 for $60 and sold it for $120 on Amazon. I consider $100 to be the going rate. They wanted $180. I'm sorry but if you're selling an import for more than I'm asking for one on Amazon, you're seriously overpriced. LOL

Yeah, they threw in an extra 10% discount because it's not complete, apparently. I don't particularly care if it's complete...

Yeah, that doesn't seem like the best business practice right there. At least swap the prices until you've sold the "new" ones. :P

Then again, it could be a marketing idea to get people to pay more thinking they're getting a good deal by seeing it's cheaper than the used copy.

Yeah, I indeed saw a lot of outrageous prices. Sutte Hakkun was $87.10, and while that's a late game, it's hardly that rare, is it? That seems to be around 4-6 times the going rate in Japan, unless it has a box.

I didn't want to bring it up, but I kept seeing games on there that I've bought off risingstuff for $5~10 less and in some cases even cheaper. BUT if either of those two Famicom games are CIB or at least boxed I won't have a bad thing to say about 'em. I might have to try the extra 10% off trick myself (well, cross my fingers anyway and hope for it) cuz I'd love to get Doremi regardless of whether it's complete or not.

Nice stuff, shadows. I have FFS (heh, love how that gets abbreviated, though Garou Densetsu Special doesn't have the same ring when it becomes GDS :P) and StarFox, and every other SFC Street Fighter EXCEPT for Turbo (SFII, SSFII, SFZ2). Not familiar with Super Puyo Puyo 2 Remix (only the original Puyo Puyo), but based on your good taste, I may have to look into it.

My most recent imports are DoReMi Fantasy (already mentioned in this thread), and Sutte Hakkun. I already had a copy of Sutte Hakkun, but it's in pristine condition, and I didn't like the idea of sticking it in my Super Famicom, so I got another via GameBaz's Shopping@Japan service, and this one is clearly used, thankfully. :P

How well does SFZ2 runs on the snes any major slowdowns during gameplay or is it similar to the other ones?

How well does SFZ2 runs on the snes any major slowdowns during gameplay or is it similar to the other ones?
Well... no slowdown that I've noticed, but there are load times, and that's no joke. You have to wait something like 3-5 seconds both before and after the announcer says "Fight!" and before the win pose, IIRC. Otherwise, it's a pretty good, faithful port, considering the hardware, and I suspect those load times have something to do with the onboard graphics decompression chip.

It was all one lot:

I also got another lot that has a gray Saturn, hookups, gray controller, and 6 games:

I actually like the look of the gray Saturn more. It's the same kind my cousin had back in the day.
How does the seller figure that Saturn memory cards are "very rare"? They are quite common. Not only that, but one of the memory carts isn't even a memory cart. He's offering one memory card and one 1MB RAM expansion cart.

Got a ton of import Dreamcast games in over the past month or so, including many shooters,
more details on my site's blog, http://www.the-laser.com/voicemodule_main.htm, check under the Feb. 7th 'Weekend Warrior' entry.

Thanks,

I'm thinking he probably thought the Japanese cards are "rare" since the US cards are hard to find, and doesn't know the Japanese cards are more common.

Are one of the cards really a 1MB expansion? I'll have to get him on that...

EDIT: Got the stuff and a $10 refund for the missing memory card.

Also, got 3rd Strike for $16 shipped:

SFC games:

Lemmings (Japanese version) - not localized in any way that I can tell - everything is completely in English and as in the version I remember renting as a kid.

Waratte Iitomo! Tamolympic (or Tamorimpic, or something - kinda hard to romanize this one to capture the inherent pun :P) - A minigame-centric game based around Waratte Iitomo!, a variety show I'd occasionally watch in Japan. Quite reasonably silly.

Mario no Super Picross - A pretty late SFC title, and it already has most of what I expect from, say, a DS Picross title, aside from the ability to automatically grey out already used-numbers (you have to do it manually if you wish to do so). Otherwise perfect, and amazing (even supports the mouse, though I prefer the d-pad, even on DS versions).
