There are a few copies of Blazing Star on Ebay now for the Neo Geo AES system. The seller says they were made from authentic MVS parts. Below the label is a warning message in japanese. Would it damage the components in the cartridge slot for the system or do I need to purchase a phantom converter in order to play the game?

Please link to the pic with the JP warning label - if it's legible (ebay pics are often too blurry to read) I'll translate it for you.

It's a conversion, and worth diddly. It's converted MVS cart. A *fake*.
Good for play value only. It's collectible value is nil. I have a Phantom converter, and don't waste time with overpriced fakes.
Often conversions can have issues saving, graphical glitches, and so on. Depends how good the work is. A wildcard at best.

Some real geo games have label too. My KOF '96 does. I have no idea what it says obviously, but some real cart do have them.

I think one of my fighters has that, certainly one has a similar glowing sticker (err...can't remember if it's FF3 or one of the Samurai Spirits titles). Far as I know, MVS -> AES conversions need to rip off the shell from a real AES title, so the sticker shouldn't mean anything in determining whether it's real or not.
But yeah...MVS -> AES conversions are a huge waste of time for me on eBay :(

Okay, that sticker isn't very helpful. They're pasted onto legitimate carts too - my KOF 2000 JP version has one. Anyways, here's what it says:
"Please be sure to firmly set the cartridge into the game system. If the cartrige is not set into the system properly, it may not function properly."
The second sentence literally says "Improper setting of games is a source of technical problems," but that sounds pretty lousy in English... better than the English in a lot of Neo-Geo games, however. LOL

Okay, I see the picture now (didn't work last time). Nothing looks amiss here, except the side of the box...this is a snap case (like the game normally would have)? I'll check one of mine when I go to sleep, but I didn't think it would look like that, so a "shock box," correct? The cart looks just like it should (including, yes, the warning sticker - check the Neo-Geo.com gallery). Scary.

The stickers on some AES carts are the same as SNK used for MVS. The English version of the sticker says:
CAUTION
Please insert a game cartridge correctly,
inserting a cartridge the wrong way
could cauge damge
So they translation mentioned before is right I think.
Anyway conversions suck, but I sold my AES already years ago and now I only buy MVS-kits. I like the kits even more then the AES as it's really fun to search some of them.
