Well, it's not exactly the sequel I've been waiting for, but it's enough to send it up to the top tier of my watchlist.

OH MAN! Thank you unbroken for posting this!!! I don't think I have ever been more excited about a Game Boy game since Zelda: Link's Awakening! I MUST have it. I have been in need of an X-com fix since Terror of the Deep. And don't give me any of those later X-Com releases.. YUCK! Kudos to reviving a franchise! Now if only they NAMED it X-COM...... ;)

The Gollop brothers, to not understate the word here, are absolute masters of the turn based combat engine. What you are looking at here is an update to a 20 year old game ;)
RebelStar begat Chaos begat Laser Squad begat Lords of Chaos begat X-Com and that's where a lot of people picked up their trail I bet.
Grab a Speccy or C64 emulator and track down some of the earlier games :)

no problem. though, i doubt will ever see a game with the x-com name ever again, ive been keepin an eye on everything x-com for years, and im pretty sure the "x-com" name died with microprose. looking at these screen shots, it definetly has that x-com feel which i love.

Bethesda was supposed to be the NA publisher of a new, 3D X-com title back when Morrowind was still under development. Unfortunately, Virgin pulled the plug on the deal and that was that. I very sure that I read that an Eastern European developer purchased the rights to the game, but I never heard a peep from them afterwards. In fact, they had a forum up for awhile. Don't know if they're still around. Since both X-com and Jagged Alliance seem to have given up their last gasp, it's a tough time for fans of the genre. Everything is real-time now. I would have enjoyed Freedom Force so much more if it was turn-based. As it is, I'm just constantly pausing every few seconds and trying to track down who's doing what.

From the website
Capture weapon technology from your alien opressors and use it against them. Rebelstar Tactical Command gives the player unparalleled variety in exciting battle tactics.
Thank goodness this part of the game was left in tact. I really hope they have the research features, etc.
I MISS JAGGED ALLIANCE!
UGH, why did such a successful series die? and Fallout? what happened there? Is there no room for more than 2 sequels? I miss turn based sooo much.. That's why I love advance wars for the GBA probablly. Sigh, I am just glad the drought in TBS games is being relieved a little

I loved the first X-Com, so I'll definitely pre-order this game. Looks quite interesting, and I've been dying for another GBA strategy game.
