Wow, this game hits me right in the nerd gland.

If you haven't heard of it, it's a Dreamcast game where you control a team of up to 5 superdeformed tokusatsu heroes. To start, you can choose Kamen Rider 1, Kikaider, or the red Go Ranger. As you progress the game, you run into more heroes (and villians) along the way. I haven't gotten too terribly far yet, but damnit this game has SD kamen riders and Big One from JAKQ so I'm sold.

Obviously this is a game for genre fans. Gameplay wise, it's actually not all that terribly intense or deep (at least far as I can tell knowing no Japanese). The game plays much like episodes of a show, there are eyecatches at load times and whenever someone new shows up they have their themesong (themes are also used for battle, seems most the stages are focused mostly on one show, and therefore that theme plays). There's even a narrarator at the end of each stage (ganbare, HERO!). All the characters have special moves you can pull off, although the points used by the moves are fairly sparsely given to you. I'm guessing there's also combo moves as I managed to get Rider 1 and 2 to do the rider double kick. I'm guessing that the go rangers and JAKQ have their football moves too but I have yet to actually play as a whole sentai team at once.

So far I've ran into Kamen riders 1, 2, V3, X, Go Ranger, JAKQ (with Big One!), Kikaider, Kikaider 01, Inazuman, and a few other guys I don't even recognize. I have yet to fill the first page of hero profiles. If there's a 70s henshin hero you're a fan of there's a decent chance they're in this game. I dunno how far ahead it goes yet...I'm hoping to run into a few more sentai teams soon.

Oh yeah, I was supposed to be talking about gameplay. The games mostly takes place on fairly sparse environments, the city, a school, the secret evil guy lab (which has exploded like 4 times now, heh), caves, ect. You get to pick your team of up to 5 heroes depending on the stage, and give them a few items to hold. Then you run around on the map and usually get attacked by henchmen, kick their asses to build your special points, and move on. Eventually you'll find the monster-of-the-stage, or sometimes a reoccuring villian and fight them. Often teh first fight they will either not be hurt or run away, and you have to find them again. Alternatively, this is also a time when new characters show up to help you. After that you look for the MOTL again and beat his ass either killing him or making him run off to another stage. As you clear stages more will open up. The fighting is fairly simple, there's a punch and a kick, or specials and items. Specials will hit enemies on the squares the target pattern lights up. If you punch twice then kick quickly, you'll kill a henchman and any henchmen standing behind him (I think my record was 6 in one kick).

This game is pretty repetitive, but if you are into these kinda shows you'll probably be telling yourself "one more stage then I quit...WHO WAS THAT? ok one more stage..."..

If anyone has more info on this game please let me know. I'm stuck fighting the glowy ball boss on 74 or so (one of the stages with "god" in the title). Too many fights in this stage, not to mention first guy always cuts out half your HP. Do any of the characters have a healing special maybe?

Jesus. I just ran into some of ign's shit searching for stuff on this game. read this review.

Wow. I realize this game is pretty clunky, but this is probably the most immature review of anything I've ever seen. Not to mention they are obviously retarded to the genre (they keep saying 60s, most of the stuff in this game is 70s, and goddamnit they aren't power rangers, they're sentai, and it's not just sentai at that). Granted that second point is total nerd rage, but seriously, "this game sucks" in the title of the review? Someone find the part that says "this is a joke". Arg.

Way to throw any sort of professionalism right out the window, IGN.

Wow, what an incredibly stupid review that doesn't say much of anything. Pretty sad, actually, because I'm sure someone out there bought into this "review" and stayed away from the game.

This game sucks. We must make fun of it and its developers. Ha ha ha ha ha.
In the title of the review? "This game sucks." Can you get any more generic than that, even if you hated the game?

I've personally stayed far away from IGN ever since they had their web site designed after the McGriddle one time. That was sad, but at the same time, was a great summation of where that site's gone in the past years.

I'm not even going to bother reading that review because its IGN and that is the only site i am aware of that can suck and blow at the same time.

This game seems like a cool little game that would appeal to those that are fans of the characters or like quirky SD games.

More-or-less, but it's not very deep gameplay wise. It would probably seem fairly boring to anyone not at least somewhat into sentai / kamen rider / kikaider. As I am a fan though I get a kick out of it.

Bumping this up for the hope that someone can help me out.

I'm still stuck on the Kamen Rider X misson where you first fight Apollogiest (I think, red guy with a gun) who has a fight where he's invincible, followed by a fight where he starts by half-killing everyone. Later you fight King Dark, who also starts invicible i think, then you have to find a room with a tube and break it, then fight him again. I can't beat him the second time, because after Apollogiest's kill-half-you-team attack I was already half out of healing items, and certainly by the time I'm fighting king dark again. Is there a trick to this, or does one of the characters have a healing move or something? I'm stuck as hell. I hope that someone can help me out.

alternatively codes would be nice too, so I can get past it one way or another.

Well, apparently all I had to do to win was completely abandon the sense of teamwork sentai infuses you with and just keep my character alive and only use my teammates as item carriers. Awesome.

So apparently I hit an ending...I'm still missing characters, the percent that lowers after a succesful mission is only at 40-something percent...and it just ended. My save is still right before the mission i did where I got an ending...so where did I screw up? Apparently I missed something somewhere or such.

Then again I'm probably the only person here's who's played this at all so yeah. I'm considering playing through and making a rough faq for we non-english speakers.

edit: here's all the heroes i've found and recognize:
Kamen riders 1, 2, V3, Stronger, Amazon, Skyrider, X, Super-1, Black, Black RX(plus robo and bio rider), evil cyborg rider with yellow boots (only was playable in one mission...)
GoRanger, JAKQ, Kikaider, 01, Inazuman, Robo Keiji K, Kyodain, Arashi?. COuple other sidekicks too. I'ms till missing three profiles from the first page..hmm.
