The bomberman series is wonderful for up to 4 players, my favorite is Super Bomberman 3.

There's-

Dungeons & Dragons ToD & SoM (4 players) Arcade - Saturn
Elevator Action Returns (2 players) Arcade - Saturn
Good ol' Ninja Turtles, X-Men, etc. (4 players) Arcade
Quartet, Quartet 2 (4 players) Arcade

Oh, and I strongly reccomend Secret of Mana or Seiken Densetsu 3. Action-RPG for up to 3 players. Then there's always good ol' Contra for 2P action.

Warlords for VCS is probably the best 4 player game for the system.

Ms. Pac Man for Genesis allows you to play simultaneous 2 player games.

Goldeneye - 'nuff said

NFL Blitz for N64

Mario Party of course

Just to name a few.....

Warlords. Definately one of the best, and I think the best four-player game of ALL time. Though I think Tetris can be a great multiplayer game also.

Twinkle Star Sprites (Dreamcast or Saturn will do fine):
Most fun I've ever had multiplayer wise. I've had people play this game for 10 hours straight after I introduced it.

Saturn Bomberman (Saturn... obviously):
Up to 10 player Bomberman? Hells yes. Though I like the levels in Mega Bomberman more... :/

I'm going to refer you to an existing thread that I think is too similar to this one to pass up. Please add your comments here, as this thread is used in many a classic gaming conversation!

Or, if you prefer, this thread deals with both 2 and multi-player games:
