The first two innings of the July 16th game between the Kansas City T-Bones and the Schaumburg Flyers will be played virtually.

Equipped with Microsoft Xbox game controllers instead of baseball gloves and bats, two video gamers will climb into recliner chairs around home plate at CommunityAmerica Ballpark and slug it out on the park’s 16- by 24-foot video screen

Cool idea. I'd love to see that done with a football game. :D

They talked about this on Around the Horn about a week ago.

I think it's friggin' stupid. Sports fans don't spend money and go out to the ballpark to watch kids play a video game.

Yeah, very stupid idea and it's already been turned down the teams. It's an older story. I read the follow up somewhere, but it seems the teams thought the idea was pretty retarted too.

This is like Double-A ball.... and its only 2 innings. Small ball is known for doing some really interesting gimics to draw attention to their clubs and boost attendance. This will do that.
