I've been playing and collecting sega genesis and megadrive games since it 1st came out. My USA collection is complete give or take 1 or 2 stragglers. (I have around 930 games total, SG + MD) All I need is around 45 manuals and 2 boxes and it would be considered complete in collectors terms. As for the megadrive, I only bought the ones that never made it stateside or had different variations in their game play like bare knuckle 3. I have the Outback Joey complete in its box that is not in too bad condition and got a good deal on plus the Miracle Piano complete set wasn't that expensive. The parent who sold it to me also threw in a paino chair since their kid ended up using it a few times. The outback joey one was used only once by me because I found it utterly stupid and useless connected to my execercise bike. Woo hoo, I'm a bouncing kangarro as I jump around hitting little bats. If I wasn't trying to complete my collection I would have never bought it LOL Anyone hear have extra sega genesis manuals for sale? Don't have much for trade at moment since I've sold most of my doubles.

Hey man could you post a pic. I'd really like to see that collection!
I took the pictures today. Still working on my own personal room of doom. Still have way to go to finish. Have it set up with big screen and all systems connected into 1 input. All of my megadrive and genesis plus honk kong bootlegs are all there for show. The shelves are 2 deep or else I would not be able to fit all of those games. They should be easy to spot if your a true Sega fan. The stickers you might see on some of them are just simple post it notes that I used on the outside of the boxes so I could tell off the bat the english translations of the japanese megadrive games. I also took a picture of the Outback joey game I have plus the miracle piano. Since I have the Outback Joey personal trainer, do I become a member of the special club? LOL As for the glare, I turned off the flash and was still getting it from the natural light.

PS Are we counting bootlegs like super mario bros and tekken megadrive games as being part of a complete list?

I'm sure Caut is nearing a complete PAL collection, which is pretty cool.

Well, he'll be a little bit closer after this :)

That's the only problem with a PAL collection - where do you stop?!

Standard Eur releases?
Budget re-releases?
Australia?
Brazil?
Local cover variations (there's at least FIVE different Eur/UK versions of Micro Machines 2!)
International cover variations (e.g. FIFA 98)
Translations?

The list is surprisingly large - all in all it must run to 800 or more, despite there only being 550 or so actual titles.

For the record, I'm at 405 MD games, all complete (other than the odd poster or map that I might not know is missing). A few more should arrive in the next couple of days, taking me over the 1,000 total games mark.

Well, it's whatever you define yourself really - I'll be calling my collection "complete" when I have all 525 standard Euro titles + the 12/13 Accolade/Ballistic cardboard box games.
Well, actually, that'd be "complete Euro". I'd want the Aussie exclusives before saying "complete PAL" (but not the Brazilian ones - PAL-M is substantially different). The rest are all variations, and while I want all the major ones, I wouldn't call 'em essential.

(I'm currently somewhare around 400, and already have almost everything that's R5 or higher :) )

Ah, but are you including all the Double-Pack releases under the Aussie exclusives, or do you count that as just a a packaging variant like the Platinum / Gold releases?

Nah, they're just re-packages. The only Aussie exclusives I'd consider as 'essential' are Ecco Jr, Daze, Fatal Fury 2, Shane Warne Cricket & Dick Vitale's College Hoops.

What about Speed Racer: Challenge of Racer X? I've heard stories that it was released for only a single day. Would that be enough to justify it as a release being as other games have shared similar fates (Stadium Events, Tengen Tetris)?

Outback Joey IS a USA released game, and LICENSED for that matter, so it is necessary to have one for a complete collection. It's not like the the unlicensed Racermate cart for NES, it's moreso like the Speed Racer/Mountain Bike Rally double cart for SNES. Just rarer. I WANT IT =(

But then again, isn't a blockbuster competition cartridge licensed?

I'll probably take the 'cop out' route and complete a retail release set, myself. About half way there, 385.

No, a Blockbuster cart is a contest cart, just like the 1990 NWC.

Speed Racer" Maybe if someone has proof of a US box and game, then yes, of course, but if no one has it, or only one person has it, it's not the same as Tengen Tetris or Stadium Events.

Also, Dick Vitale Hoops, Ecco Jr, and I think Fatal Fury 2 were all released in the USA.

They're all Asian boots that pop up on eBay every now and then. Brazil seems to be swimming in them too. There's a whole bunch listed at Guardiana.

And to All Things Sega - no, of course they don't count as necessary for a complete set - there's tons of the things, and they were often re-booted multiple times.

The Hong Kong games sometimes pop up on ebay and have been able to get some whenever cousin goes to Hong Kong. They are fun games but you can tell their obvious hacks. Gotta love Hong Kong (The Land of Knock Offs) LOL You'd be surprised at what they hack, besides those games you mentioned. The best one I found so far is the Megaman X3 for the genesis. This game plays just like the snes version. Only downside is that they didn't get the continue part done correctly so only way to finish that is to play it completely through. I'm not that good so I have never seen its ending. But definately a good job and not soem cheesy translation. Recommend to buy if you ever see it on ebay or someone is trading it.

Dude, you're pretty awesome and you're the man. I just broke the 500 mark yesterday. We'll be sitting in the promised land together soon.

How hard was it for you to get all of the Bible games CIB? Outback Joey? Miracle Piano?

Thank you! Know I just need to finish Sega CD, Saturn and Dreamcast. LOL

Bible Adventures was a pain but I ended up getting a sealed one for cheap. Theme Park was a pain as well. Miracle Piano i looked for 4-5 years and finally got the 3 one I saw. Outback Joey I dont count becasue I am not sure it was released in stores. i will get one some day.

I believe that's correct. I know for a fact that I saw it for sale at a Babbage's here in Houston, and like an idiot I bought another game instead. I went back to buy it the next day and it was gone. I asked them about it, and they told me that it had been recalled, but no explanation why.

I've never seen it for sale anywhere since then though, not even on ebay. And you would think that if I had a chance to buy it and passed it up, surely someone else should've had a chance to buy it and didn't pass it up. But as far as I know, nobody has ever proven that it was actually released.

So the question is, if it really was available for a single day, then what happened to it? Why was it recalled, and why hasn't anyone been able to prove that it was released? I would think that at least one person in the world would own a copy of it, but apparently nobody actually owns it.

I re-started my GENESIS journey in February of this year, picking up a "few" titles here and there among my SNES spree. I started out raping several Game Crazy stores, and while they may be cart only, because they were so cheap I didn't mind. We're talking 6 games for $10 rape... including Grind Stormer :)

At present moment I believe I have 130-135. About April I switched from "cart only is fine" mentality to "it must be CIB" since these games are easy to find complete, and for like, what, maybe $2 extra can be purchased complete. And the GEN boxes were DAMN NICE LOOKING. Pretty yet also functional... IMO like the camera angle of the underrated PSX/Saturn platformer PANDEMONIUM! (ahhh, that was a gem by Crystal Dynamics)

So now, I only buy CIB Genesis games, unless cart only the price is an absolute steal ($1, $5 for the RPGs)

Recently I splurged and might have overpaid but am uncertain. If anyone would like to tell me how I did, that'd be nice. I think I might have slightly overpaid, but maybe not?

All US CIB games

shining force $27
streets of rage 3 $33
toe jam and earl 2 $7.50
wiz n liz $11.50

w/shipping it came out to be $84

I know SOR3/SF go for about what I paid, but I am uncertain for TJAE2 and WNL.

At any rate, with my SNES collection drying up/done, I will be turning my focus to completing my NES and Genesis libraries... then, rest at ease! I should be done sometime in 2007... probably before May.

I am 14 away from a Genesis set, and only missing about 80 boxes to have AN ENTIRE BOXED SET. I have a Miracle cart, but I am willing to trade crazy for a boxed Miracle. I know that we all have our opinions on what is part of the Genesis set, all which can be right. Here is 2 cents...

1. I dont count the Blockbuster Cart, it was a competition cart and not sold to the public

2. Outback Joey is not played on the Geneisis but its own system(which has the guts of a genesis but with different controls and stuff). Not part of the set to me.

3. While I dont disagree with some that may have seen Speed Racer, unless one shows up it didnt get released in my opinion. I want to see proof, not hear a story. I classify Speed Racer like the Bingo cart for the RCA Studio II. I guess we can only ponder and never may never know what really happened.

4. Miracle is part of the set due to being able to play on a standard Sega and was sold in stores.
