I don't care if they are complete or not, carts only for all I care. Curious to know who has every USA released game. Including these two: Miracle Piano and Outback Joey.

I completed it early in 2004. It is a complete set, in fact. I'm working on Mega-Drive carts now, specifically the stuff that wasn't released in the US.

i need right around 180, but ive got most of the toughies taken care of(aero 2, bible games, outback joey(!))

i think 35 of those are sports games as well, so those shouldnt be too difficult...though about 120 of mine aren't complete :(

At 385, I'm a little over half-way there. got most of the hard to find ones, except for Miracle Piano and Aero 2. BTW, do those of you who complete sets have teh Blockbuster World Videogame Champioship II cart? Does that count towards a complete set? Some people say no because it was not a retail release.

I'm up to 260 myself, though only 80 or so complete (I'll get them all first, then worry about completing them). Never heard of that Outback Joey game til now.

Is there a list, or some EASY way to identify Mega Drive games that did not have a US release...??

I don't have a complete set, but I DON'T count the tournament cartridges for any system. They aren't real releases, and we would probabley never know about them if it weren't for the Internet and Ebay.

I am suprised however that there aren't more collectors with a complete Genesis collection. There are at least 5 collectors with a complete NES set, and I would think that a complete Genesis collection is much easier (and cheaper) to obtain. There have to be over 100 games that are worth less than $1 for it.

I assume you are talking about loose sports games for the most parts. Unless you are buying games in bulk, its very hard to find that many games, individually, at less than $1, especially on say ebay. Most pawns sell games for more than that, otherwise they'd lose money, and waste shelf space. Same with EB and Gamecrazy. Even Salvation Army sells sports games for $3. I think the only place you'd find games for under $1 is at a garage sale.

I agree. For a complete Genesis collection you're gonna have to eventually bite the bullet and pay more than $1 for those sports titles. I know...it hurts...but it has to be done for a complete library.

Does anyone have a picture of a complete Genesis collection with at least all cases (I'm sure it would take a very wide lense)? I've been curious about how much room a complete cased collection would take up.

I'm half-way there, and my collection is complete games only, so I know what you mean. All my games are on display in media racks and booksehelves, and I'm running out of space to put them in. I think I'll have to start storing all the sports and kiddie games, except for the few series I play like EA's NHL series.

At 45 games I am FAR from having a complete U.S. Genesis collection. However, when looking through the list of the titles of Genesis games available during its lifespan I've decided that to get a complete collection I would have to buy a LOT of games I have no interest in...so no complete collection for me!

Yes. Why are you asking me that?

If I was unclear I meant that I'm collecting games that were released on Mega-Drive that were not released in the US on the Genesis platform.

PS I'd love to take a picture of how they all look but I have them divvied up over several areas. If you check my Room of Doom pics there is a whole wall of them in the main room, stacks of them on top of the Nintendo sign in the main room, and a bookshelf of them in the upstairs room.

the tricky part of a genesis collection is how you store them

the easiest trick is to just store the games alphebetically, but the variety of boxes do not look very attractive on a shelf, unlike say the master system.

what i do is separate my genny games into three main catagories

"red genesis stripe" boxes, and then a cardboard box subset beyond this, since they are more delicate

"checkerboard" boxes, with the original genny box design most early games used

"everything else", the middle period in the genesis (92-93) there were no design parameters. EA and Accolade games also fit into this category. if you want a super nice looking collection, separate the various publishers. the thicker EA boxes look sharp all in a line

of course this makes finding games a bit of a pain, but what good is collecting boxes if they dont look attractive while being stored?

According to DP ORG, Outback Joey is a proto-type or one of a kind. So which one is it? I assume it's not a proto-type judging by the description. Is it something like that fitness bike game for the SNES?

I've got the same problem with Mega Drive games, but sort them by a) publisher b) box style and c) part number. Works out pretty well and keeps them looking neat. :)

outback joey is similar to the exertainment games, but it was only realeased to radio stations and tv stations for review. it came with a speacial 'hertbeat' sweat proof genesis systema nd a split contorller that mounted with the d pad on the left and the buttons on the right so you could use while on a treadmill or whatever. i thought they were ridiculous rare, but seems like its not as uncommon as i thought, however.

how many people here have them? 5 or 6?

Genesis games are easy to store if in the box. They are all just about the same size and lots of color. The SMS games are just plain white.zzzzzzzz

I've been playing and collecting sega genesis and megadrive games since it 1st came out. My USA collection is complete give or take 1 or 2 stragglers. (I have around 930 games total, SG + MD) All I need is around 45 manuals and 2 boxes and it would be considered complete in collectors terms. As for the megadrive, I only bought the ones that never made it stateside or had different variations in their game play like bare knuckle 3. I have the Outback Joey complete in its box that is not in too bad condition and got a good deal on plus the Miracle Piano complete set wasn't that expensive. The parent who sold it to me also threw in a paino chair since their kid ended up using it a few times. The outback joey one was used only once by me because I found it utterly stupid and useless connected to my execercise bike. Woo hoo, I'm a bouncing kangarro as I jump around hitting little bats. If I wasn't trying to complete my collection I would have never bought it LOL Anyone hear have extra sega genesis manuals for sale? Don't have much for trade at moment since I've sold most of my doubles.

That's not necessarily true. Keep watching your eBay auctions and you will get some soprts games for ultra-cheap. Look for lots that include games and a system but that include mostly sports games. You can get them for under $1 each no problem, usually with cases. Then you can sell the Genesis for $10 too.

At 45 games I am FAR from having a complete U.S. Genesis collection. However, when looking through the list of the titles of Genesis games available during its lifespan I've decided that to get a complete collection I would have to buy a LOT of games I have no interest in...so no complete collection for me!

What system's library isn't loaded with crap games that you are forced to purchase to have a complete collection? I think the SMS is pretty low on the crap scale. It has very few sports games and no dedicated children's games (Magic School Bus, Berenstain Bears) and so on.

Genesis games are easy to store if in the box. They are all just about the same size and lots of color. The SMS games are just plain white.zzzzzzzz

That's true, SMS games only look good if you can see the fronts. Even then, only the late release games have badass artwork, the early art is minimalistic and simplistic.

The question is did Outback Joey ever see retail release? To me this is the defining factor as to whther or not it is a must-have for a complete U.S. collection. Just the fact that it is licensed isn't enough. I'm not trying to make it easier for myself to attain the complete Genesis collection, I am a pretty stringent collector. The only thing standing between me and a complete U.S. SMS collection is a Sonic UPC sticker and a Dick Tracy manual but I will not substitute my Euro Sonic. The DP guide lists OJ as a proto. What's the consensus?

Altho, i think it can be compared with Racermate Challenge II for NES. Is a NES set complete without this?

I'm lacking in the Genesis section with almost 90 games. The "rarest" games I have on it are:
Toki: Going Ape Spit
Back to the Future Part 3

Both are 5's in scarcity so not even breaking the 6 limit seems sad. But by no means do I own an uber amount of sports or crappy games I didn't want.

near as i can tell, the outback joey cart and heartbeat personal trainer system was released as a test market only, but was not released to the general public. mine came from a radio or tv employee who received it direct from the company so they could preview it, but im not sure it was released. someone on these boards has a hand signed letter with thiers which may shine some more light on this issue, as i dont know what the letter says.

EPROMs reads:

Hey man could you post a pic. I'd really like to see that collection!
I took the pictures today. Still working on my own personal room of doom. Still have way to go to finish. Have it set up with big screen and all systems connected into 1 input. All of my megadrive and genesis plus honk kong bootlegs are all there for show. The shelves are 2 deep or else I would not be able to fit all of those games. They should be easy to spot if your a true Sega fan. The stickers you might see on some of them are just simple post it notes that I used on the outside of the boxes so I could tell off the bat the english translations of the japanese megadrive games. I also took a picture of the Outback joey game I have plus the miracle piano. Since I have the Outback Joey personal trainer, do I become a member of the special club? LOL As for the glare, I turned off the flash and was still getting it from the natural light.

PS Are we counting bootlegs like super mario bros and tekken megadrive games as being part of a complete list?
