Just because someone from CAG said they hoped nobody would post this on DP, I'm posting it here. I have nothing to do with this site but it's a killer deal and deserves to be seen by all. Just to give you an idea of what they normally sell for, I sold a couple Persona 2's on Ebay for $125 each last year and sealed Rhapsody's usually sell for $200. Apparently, they still have around 50 copies of each left, so snatch 'em up while you can :

Looks like they are legit. They are a reputable company (from what I've heard) and are selling the games on Ebay for the same price with BIN.

They should be legit. I just placed an order over the phone and used the free shipping code, which was accepted.

I just hope this is truly only 50 copies, otherwise the entire market will be flooded so to speak. But thanks Nork! ^_^

i talked to them also and they have over 11,000 ebay feedback.

They got some closeout games is what they found. So someone was sitting on boxes of these games in a warehouse.

I ordered 1 copy also. The guy i talked to said all their stuff
they get is from warehouses of leftovers and still in the shipping boxes, etc.

They would never have made a reprint. They just weren't that popular to begin with. People were just starting to take notice of Atlus at the time. These are just unsold copies from a warehouse like it was stated previously. BTW, sulmona, how did you get your sealed copy of Rhapsody?

I'm a little POed that shipping is $8 and it has to be via UPS (I hate UPS), but I've been outbid on used copies of Rhapsody for $100, so how much can I really complain?

I thought that that code only worked if you bought both games, so I didn't even try it.

True, but when you try to buy a game from there that isn't in stock, it will be shown as OOS after you add it to your cart. This isn't the case with Persona and Rhapsody, so it looks like it's in. Several people have called them also and have confirmed it's available.

I ordered one and am also a little skeptical. Kind of one of those "if it's too good to be true" things. Here's hoping we weren't all taken. But at least we'll all have someone else to flame. LOL

Incidentally if they did only have 50 copies those have got to be gone or almost since the community here probably grabbed half of em.

Between those already sold on eBay and the number people here say they have bought (roughly), it seems that about 21 copies of Rhapsody have been sold already (I didn't think to count the number of Persona 2s). If they had about 50, I would imagine that anyone who has already ordered one should be safe, plus maybe a few more, factoring in non-DP, non-eBay sales.

Plus, they only made 25 available on eBay in the first place, despite claiming they have 50, so perhaps they are reserving some for those bought over their website.

EDIT: After reading the post after this one, I went and checked their website, and, sure enough, it won't let you order one if you try. Good thing I ordered mine when I did. The eBay listing still says that 15 are available, but they want $80 for it on eBay instead of the $50 they were asking for on the website.

Wow that was one quick offer to those of us lucky enough to jump on this. Thank you very much for letting us know about this offer! I think the guy updated the website after I called to revise my order from being 2 rhapsody and 2 persona to being 4 rhapsody, but then I decided on 3 rhapsody and one persona. He probably ended it there, unless truly they are all sold out from the store. I would imagine with us and CAG members combined those 25 copies are long gone.

after reading the topic over at cheapassgamer, I am a bit skeptical about these games. They say he had nearly 80 rhapsody for sale, and theories on why he is selling so low. Anyway I hope the price on these games doesnt plummet!

Heh, they're acting like a bunch of knuckleheads over there. Do you seriously think Atlus would re-release a game like Rhapsody out of the blue when it was never popular to begin with? Of course not.

As for with he has so many copies. Some goon probably just found some old Atlus back stock and is selling it off for profit. I don't see what's so hard to grasp about it. He's probably selling it at that price to move it faster.

I wouldn't worry too much about resale values in the long run. HOWEVER, I'd say the majority of the copies bought tonight from them was with the intention of resale. So I would expect a period where there will be an abundance of Rhapsody's, perhaps 2-3 months. But once these copies find their way into collector's hands who want to keep them, it'll be hard to find them again and prices will stabilize.

If I were you, I'd hold on to them for a while. Keep them in your collection and forget about them. Sell other things. And before you realize it, you'll be sure to make a nice profit.

I found a mint complete copy of Rhapsody with the soundtrack cd for all of about $5 in a pawn shop once. You shmucks are paying 10x that & dropping it like you were a kid in a candy store. :D

Saw this post this morning before heading off to work. Popped over to Gamequest and placed an order for Rhapsody, which was labeled as being in stock. I've looked locally for this game for some time and have never seen one, so I'm pretty happy to have a chance at one without having to bid on Ebay. I must have been pretty excited about it too, because I got all the way to work before I realized my wallet and credit card were still next to my keyboard back at home! LOL

Supposedly there are over 120 back in stock for each game, I am really considering canceling my order. We will be kicking ourselves if we can eventualy buy these really cheap on ebay due to the sudden flood of them. Also $50 for a selaed persona 2 seems like alot to me..

Yeah, they will most definitly be much cheaper on ebay in the near future, but as more and more are sold off, the value will go up to near what they previously sold for.

But anyway..

I called and changed my order from 3 rhapsody and 1 persona to just one copy of rhapsody.

There are just too many risks involved to chance buying 3 copies of rhapsody, the prices will end up plummeting on ebay and I will be sorry I bought 3, even if they do go back up it will take a long time before they are going for $200 new again, and I need money for xbox 360 and such and it will be too long of a wait, so I am just buying one for myself to open and play, and I will buy a used copy of persona 2 on ebay as I am sure they will be significantly cheaper now.

The guy is prett nice thoguh, he even helped me out on paypal to refend my money on the phone and help me through it. Im sure he is pissed about all the order calls hes getting, but hey hes making money!

Im taking the safe road out of this, he said the game will ship today so I am confident I will be getting rhapsody. Persona doesnt seem like my type of rpg, and I would probably hate myself for buyin it $50 new, opening it, and then finding out I would have been able to buy a used one for $20-30.

Good luck to the re-sellers though, theres gonna be alot of competition!

Rhapsody had been selling 40-50, but had really appreciated in price in the last year (up to 80 or so), so this little spurt might bring it down a touch.

Rhapsody jumped like crazy after Disgaea came out and the sudden boom of Nippon Ichi collecting began. Persona 2 only recently jumped as well.

As for you "120 copies will kill the market" naysayers, I called and placed my order over the phone this morning (though I haven't gotten an email confirmation yet) and talked to them. Between Rhapsody and Persona 2, they got a total of 144 units. When I called this morning, they said they only had maybe a dozen or so left of each title. They were gone THAT fast. Now about half of what got bought will permanently go into personal collections, leaving a total of around 72 sealed games floating around between the two titles. It'll make a bubble in the value but I'd be willing to bet they're back up by Xmas. Mine are getting stashed in my sealed game stack for trade bait myself :D

They aren't the people to get these. A distrubitor just announced they had these 2 titles at $38.00. Sadly this was after I bought a bunch at $50.00

I do know that not too long ago (as said by BuyAtari) capcom released back stock (not reprints) on the cube RE's and Super Puzzle Fighter (they have been actually doing it with other titles as well, they just wernt noticed as much (Breath of Fire 3/4 and Mega Man X4/X5)) at least I was seeing these in the Bay Area and since thats local Capcom country, I wasnt tooo surprised to see them in the amounts I was at the local EB/GS stores. I really liked it about a year ago when my now dead indy store was getting Capcom backstock (owner not only knew people, but worked for Capcom) and 2 Pallates came in. I was pretty much able to get any Capcom PS game I needed.

Unless this is some start of a new movement, it shouldnt be running that high. Hell Its not easy to find that much is true, but I just never saw the demand for it. I'll let it run for a bit and reevaluate its price for the guide.

Like I said in my original post, I sold 2 sealed copies of Persona 2 last year for $125 each. I've seen used copies consistently sell for allot too. No way $50 is steep for a sealed one.
