View Full Version : If you ever wanted to know how big a NeoGeoAES cart is...

I got my first NeoGeoAES game today, and while I was expecting a large cart I never expected it to the THIS huge. Here is a picture I took for comparison for those of us out there who have never seen a AES cart in person, as for those of you who have, then ignore this topic. I just think some people would be suprised at just how large these carts are.

Is there 2 boards in there, or is that a trick of the angle or something?

They have 2 boards.

wow I actually had no clue, kind of sad that I've never seen one. I had always figured they were about SNES size. That must feel odd in the portable Neo Geo that guy just built. Thanks for this.

Jesus that's big, but then again for $250+ i'd want something that big.

You should do an AES <-> DS cart size comparison picture.

Not to mention the unique attributes you can't see in the photograph... How many other game cartridges weigh over a pound, "rattle around" on the inside when you move them, and smell like burnt solder?

...yum. The new AES cart smell. :-P LOL

Is that thing real? It can't be... I can't imagine how one could possibly play that thing without the cart falling out. meh. crazier things have happened... so you never know.

Can anyone confirm anything?

I've just started AES collecting too and every time I show some one how big the cart is they are suprised. I wonder why some of them feel so loose inside?

You should do an AES <-> DS cart size comparison picture.

how's an MVS <-> DS comparison?

it was an april fools joke, though its no more ridiculous than using a Game Axe to play NES games

At least you don't loose these art easily. I once had a AES but switched to MVS as it is cheaper and the games play better in my opinion.

Yes they are huge, they are cheap if you look how much space a cart takes in your chest.

Holy christ, they should have put a little plastic scrotum and balls on them just to slam the point home.

I think I saw a similar comparison in a magazine once. Seeing it again still shocks me that there is a system that actually uses carts that damn big. Which is another reason why I'm not adding a NeoGeo to my collection yet, not only do I not have the room for another system, I wouldn't have the room to store the carts! (Not to mention lack of money is another good reason)

well, i know the circuit boards are different between the mvs and aes as well as the shape of the plastic case, but i thought that they were basically the same size

Hmm time for a mvs aes comparison pic.

based on the angle the MVS seems to be a tiny bit larger in width.

Its not the pic just got cut off a bit. There exactly the same when stacked on top of each other.
