Many of you at the roundtable used to (or still do) associate me with a website called SegaMasterSystem.com. It was in fact the outet that led me to Digital Press (I followed Zektor) and was cherished by many other board members for years.
Despite a thread that was created earlier this year, I'm sorry to have to say it, but SegaMasterSystem.com really is and forever will be a thing of the past.
For a while, as many of you know, the site was under the new control of a fellow SMS fan Sinistral. For months the domain linked to his fan site while he prepared (with my old site as a sort of backdrop) the relaunch of SegaMasterSystem.com.
In a sad turn of events, the site was snatched up by a third party in between the renewel period for the domain. Sinistral and I had both discussed the possibility of this happening, but based on information from the domain provider and Sinistral himself, I was under the impression that he would retain full ownership after a brief waiting period.
This never happened, and in order for myself (I don't expect Sinistral) to regain ownership from this mafia of an internet company, I must come up with 900 dollars.
I will be fair in saying that this in no way was entirely Sinistral's fault, as I (being the creator and caretaker of the site) should have been able to see the deal through without any problems. Call it inexperience or an internet screw job, the whole ordeal has upset me and even made me question why I gave up the site in the first place.
I was under the faux impression that it would always be there for me to be apart of, like Stan Lee and his status with Marvel, but I now fully understand the statement, "You never knew what you had until it was gone."
A deep apology to all the SMS fans who honestly enjoyed what that site had to offer. It was a fun ride, a memory I will always cherish.
I guess the best thing to do now is never look back.
Aw hell, just one last time!
