For anyone that's beat the game, or at least gotten further I have a question.
In the Witch's Cave, right outside the Sea Turtle Village what the hell are you suppose to do? The only way I can see to go is past a spikey trap, but no matter how many times I try and cross, I die. Am I wasting my time attempting to cross here? Am I missing something obvious? Help.
Also if I am suppose to cross the spikes? How?
They look like this. X being when a spike is up. O being when a spike is down. You're attempting to move from right to left.
I've tried standing on C2 twice, and then moving to B2 when it starts to clear, but I can't move off C2 quick enough before I'm impaled.
Spikes:
ABC ABC ABC
1XOX 1XOX 1OXX
2XXO 2OXO 2XOX
3OOX 3XOX 3OXX
Edit: Nevermind. Figured it out. If anyone else runs acroos this problem the answer was "Yes, cross the spikes". The pattern was: C2, C2, B2, B1, B1, A1 and the timing's a bitch.

Sega-16.com has just posted an interview with me which focuses on Beggar Prince. I figured it may be an interesting read for some of you, especially considering some of the questions they chose to ask.

It's taken 7+ months for them to nearly sell out the first batch. I would imagine that this will be a single print item.
Likely all of the die-hards already have their hands on a copy, which was their best demographic for sales. The next big demographic was likely RPG fans, who have also probably been well-picked over. This leaves the late-comers, those who read about it in a magazine, and those who get referred from a friend. I imagine most referrals have already occurred, I doubt much more press will be generated, and why try to count on a sizeable number of late-comers to make a run cost-effective.
I'd imagine to even match the offering price, they would have to order an additional 300. That, however, leaves the potential to get stuck with 200+ of those.

Will you print more when it sells out?
I have been considering it. New orders are still coming in at a decent rate, and several gaming magazines around the world are putting their finishing touches on some new articles about the game. If sufficient interest is generated for a second run, I'll put more serious thought behind producing more copies of the game for sale.
At this point, however, we are almost sold out of the game and a second production run is not a "go" (and may not be, as I've said above). So, I encourage everyone who is interested in a copy to place their order as soon as possible.

Please CMADeathAdder, if you do decide to make a second print run.....please make an easy way to tell the difference between the two. I think alot of us collectors had anticipated the initial print only.

Maybe the box art would be different LOL
**Everyone groans** as they recall the middle 10 pages of garbage in this thread.
In fact, I actually like it. The artwork would have been enough to get me to pick up the game back in the day, turn the box over, and decide to buy it. Then I'd be even more happy playing it for hours. In fact, I would have bought it over Phantasy Star IV which I recall paying $85 for (still have the receipt tucked in the box).

What is the battle style like?
Is it complete rubbish like Final Fantasy, or is it actually good, like Shining Force?
If it is the latter, I look forward to ordering thisl; if the opposite is true, I'll buy a few to sell later when the value goes up.

I like the box art as well. I think it's pretty cool. I've been playing it now for a few weeks and it's a great game. It's kind of like final fantasy with the battle system, but it's a bit simplified. Also, just like with FF and Zelda, the next storyline thread won't open up until you have talked with a key player. So, you'll end up talking with people for long stretches if you don't follow the clues.
Overall, this is a great game. The graphics throughout are pretty good for Genesis generation. I can see why they chose to resurrect this game over others.

I think we all hate enough the "million sellers" and platinum hits on xbox, ps2 and other consoles...
So I cant see why it would be a good idea to make the 2nd batch different than the first one.
Its the same game, sell it just like the first batch

What is the battle style like?
Quoted from the nice review done by Sega-16.com (http://www.sega-16.com/Review-%20Beggar%20Prince.htm):
"Adding more to the game's uniqueness is its combat system. Predating some modern RPGs like Grandia, combat is turn based, but done through the use of a stamina bar. Both the Prince and his foes perform their attacks through these bars. Enemies always attack second, giving the player plenty of opportunity to heal or use an item. However, the stamina bar is a double-edged sword. Magic drains half of it, allowing you to only use a single powerful spell per round. This means that some strategy and planning are required in order to optimize movements for each round. The downside is that even if you eliminate all but one of your foes, he still attacks the same amount of times as a full compliment, since he now has that complete stamina bar all to himself."
Please CMADeathAdder, if you do decide to make a second print run.....please make an easy way to tell the difference between the two.
Well... perhaps... I know that not everyone was 100% pleased with the game's box art.
Truth be known, I actually sat down and tried my hand at a completely new box art design, just in case. It's still in the rough stages (and by that, I mean I have yet to render some 3d trees in the background, using PhotoShop), but perhaps someone would care to see it anyway?

My apologies. I am processing each order by myself, and I admit, I've fallen a tad behind schedule due to the higher than expected number of orders. Newer orders (such as yours) still have about a week and a half delay before shipment. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I'd like to thank you for your patience and support.
The good news, is that you'll receive e-mail confirmation once your order is shipped + it will be a very quick delivery (3 - 6 days worldwide via USPS priority mail).
Should you have any additional questions about your order, the shipment process in general, or about the game itself, you are always welcome to send me a private message here at DP, or send me an e-mail.

Super Play magazine (Sweden) published a review of Beggar Prince in their July, 2006 issue. The author of the review chose to compare the game to more modern RPGs (on more advanced systems than the Genesis - Megadrive), since apparently that's how this particular magazine does things... *shrug*.
In any case, you can check out the scan below. Bonus points if you can read it, too.

I would be all over this - and I've wanted a copy since this was first announced - if I could pay using my Switch card. I don't use PayPal (since I don't trust it), so I'm pretty much screwed. YMMV, but I had to wait exactly 1 month before I got mine. No worries, though as it's a fun game!
I know CMA has to test them before shipping them out, but ALL of my gamesaves had been used. Anyway of deleting them or would I have to yank the cart battery (if there is one)?

ALL of my gamesaves had been used. Anyway of deleting them
Saving over them would work. The game saves that exist on your cart are indeed for testing purpose, to ensure every cartridge works 100% and has a valid data and save area. The saves are at the very beginning of the game, so they won't spoil anything.
or would I have to yank the cart battery (if there is one)?
There's indeed an SRAM battery inside. If you ever need to replace it (in about 10+ years), we've made it very EASY - you just unscrew the back of the cartridge casing, pull the old battery and replace it with a new one. No soldering / desoldering needed! :)

You have to get sucked into one of the sand whirl pools. But not just any whirlpool, all but one results in instant death. You'll want to navigate as far right as you can go, the correct whirlpool willl be situated next to the pyramid, and if memory serves I think it's even rotating the opposite direction than all the others. But I may be mistaken there.

If I remember correctly you find the keys in the dungeon itself. You can walk through some of the walls on the first floor and in later levels.
