A little bit better collision detection and this thing has promise. the graphics are decent and seems to be running nicely. I so hope this gets made into a homebrew.

It would be cool if someone were to pick this up and run with it. I hope someone is already working on it.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone, and that I read every single post in this classic thread. Kudos for the lolz, I know what it's liek to "eat communism in the face of Dur Butter". http://www.digitpress.com/forum/images/smilies/2003_monkey.gif
I once listed a 100 line GameShark code to unlock GoldenEye007's hidden Citadel level, and nearly brought an entire forum to it's knees.

It would be somewhat amusing if someone took the 1 level demo and tried passing it off as a real proto. Well, aside from the dude who pays a few grand for it, i guess.

Ye, it was unfortunately a fake proto :\ Regarding that post i wrote back then (about 4 years ago), looking back i wonder why i was so serious when i wrote it hehe :\ I guess i didnt see the humor in this thread back then, but today i do :)
Where can i find that fake ROM by the way?

What is a triple reverse agent? It is a serious question, english isnt my first language :\
But regarding my post that ShinobiMan quoted, i dont know why i was so serious when i wrote it back then, and why i didnt see the humor in this thread back then. Maybe it was because that i got fooled thinking it was real, but then i found out that it was fake, so i got a bit dissapointed hehe :\ Because i wanted to see more of on how Bio Force Ape looked like. Today i see the humor in this thread :)
Long time no see by the way, how are you? :) I havnt really been that active on this forum lately :\

To the d00d who went "lol, IGN (or GameSpot) has it listed... sombody shud tellz them!!1"
This game existed (and somewhere, it still does). It WAS in development but got cancelled (Nintendo Power, issue 27 and some random Famitsu issue backs this up), so why the hell shouldn't they have it there? They have other cancelled games there. This topic didn't exactly create Bio Force Ape, the OP just claimed to have a cartridge that was never released.
Don't be stooped.

http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn270/Teranugima/NintendoPower35GossipGaloreBioForce.png
If this isn't nonsense, anyone who got their hands on the game could very well have the full version and not a 1-stage prototype!
Damn you, Seta. Damn you all to hell. Don't show off with what looks to be the greatest NES game ever and then just throw it out the window.

The funny thing is, this game looks like a joke even as far back as the Nintendo Power coverage. Seta isn't exactly known for making "good" games, and both of the articles linked to sound like the writer is being sarcastic (in the first article he talks about powerful enemies or whatever and shows a screenshot of an apple, in the second one he talks about how fast-paced the action in it supposedly is then says there likely won't be any monkey business since it seems the game is canceled--judging just from the screens and from other Seta games I can't imagine the action was terribly fast-paced). Or is it just me reading too much into it.

Remember kids, keep your EPROMs in buttersticks to ensure maximum data integrity and security. Butter keeps the bitrot away and blocks 110% of UV rays! If your prototypes are also constantly assaulted by vampires and zombies, use garlic butter and be sure you have a Holy imbued chain whip in your game room. ;)

Why is this the only site on the internet that's linked the auction? It's not on lost levels or nintendo age, or any other website on the planet. I have neither the time nor the patience to analyze that screenshot, but it doesn't really pass the smell test. No matter how the auction ends up, it's just going to annoy the piss out of me.

I can't believe i'm even bothering to go through this, but here it goes...
Rotate the photo so it's straight. Draw a line from the first pixel of the first letter "T" in "press start" to the first pixel in the second "T". There are 56 pixels between the three letters, so to scale it, each 8 pixel area on the screenshot takes up 18.667 pixels of the photo.
Luckily, right near the "press start" you can see both edges of the screen. From edge to edge is 564 pixels. Using our calculation above, that means the screen is roughly 241 pixels wide. That's close enough to the resolution of 256 pixels we expected, allowing for some to be chopped off by the CRT. So our 18.667 to 8 ratio is probably pretty close.
Using the same calculation we can measure the ape's head to be 76 pixels wide by 84 pixels tall. We'll round that to the closest 8x8 block and assume the picture is actually 80x80 pixels. For reference, the butter monster in the competition cart is only 48x48 pixels.
Scaling dur butter to 80x80 pixels and dumping him in the same corner as the ape's head, the scale matches up.
The one thing that makes me really question the picture is the detail in the crow's feet near the ape's eye. If you assume those lines are 1 pixel, then the image has too many pixels in it to be 80x80. One pixel on the NES would take up .45 pixels in the picture.
Unfortunately the picture is too low resolution to tell for sure. I still think it's fake, but that may be more wishful thinking then fact. It certainly passes ever test i can think to run against it.

That's the first time the guy has sold any video games as far as I know, but his feedback is stellar, he got to level 3 but could not pass it, and that's about it. Hopefully in a few hours all will be well in butter land.

In this day and age, you would think that he'd post a video or something. One menu screenshot isn't much proof for this kind of thing.
It's an FDS dev cart, right? Can't you write those over pretty easily? I'm more inclined to believe that it's a recent homebrew than an authentic prototype.
ccovell

It's actually not an FDS RAM adaptor, but an official Nintendo Famicom dev board. They jammed the board into FDS RAM adaptor cases, for obvious reasons...
