My DS has a problem. :(

First off, I take very good care of it. I've never dropped it and always keep it in it's case unless it's in my hands. Yes, I am quite anal about my DS.

Anyway, the speakers are sounding horrible. They are very "tingy" if you know what I mean. Like too much treble. It first started while playing Trace Memory but now all my games sound weird. Even that begining noise when you first power on the system sounds strange. What could this be? How did this happen?

BTW, I bought this new from Target about three months ago so it's not like I got it second hand.

I have a similar problem, I get crackles (mostly when playing GBA carts) which are a little annoying. I don't want to send it back though, would be like £25 to fix something I can live with.

It's just a tiny manufacturing defect I think.

It's not like you have 10-20 dead pixels or something on the screen. *coughPSPcough*

Yea. When I bought my first one the speakers didn't work at all. the only way i could get sound was through the headset. I returend it the next day for another one.

I havn't had any problems with my DS to date. For 20 dollars i got the extended warranty thing at best buy. So when the blue DS came out, i brought my silver one in and got a brand new blue one for 20 dollars more. As for sound problems, i've never heard of any.

I have the same issue. Usually it fiexes itself if I turn it down and then turn it back up. Try pressing in a bit on the vloulume slider. That seems to help too.

That, or buy a set of heaphones which are a thousand times better than crappy handheld speakers.

I've noticed on one of my units that the sounds does that on certain games when the battery light is about to go orange. Other than that, no issues...

I never thought I'd see blind fanboyism on these boards

On subject, I've been having the same problem when the sound if set under half the maximum volume but it clears up if I move the sound setting up or down just a bit.

Did you try charging teh console to full (i.e. the led turns green?) This does sound ALOT like a low power problem...

If you did try charging it, try playing with the charger in; does it improve?

If it does, you have a power problem. If you have sucha problem, my recomendation would be to buy a new battery and change that; rechargeables can take a limited number of recharges before starting to die...

P.s. hope your problem is solved soon; Nintendo all the way ;)

My DS sometimes has sound issues as well, but as someone else said, the problems generally go away when I turn the volume down and up again.

Some GBA games are noisier than others when I play them on the DS, though... Mario vs Donkey Kong, for example.

I get kind of like a fuzz sound when I play GBA games at full volume. But it seems that just do to the speakers no being that great, sounds fine through headphones.

The only time I had a problem with the sound was when I was playing Super Mario 64 DS. For some reason occasionally the sound would go out of synch, and sometimes it would echo (Like when Mario jumped, it would sound like he said "Woo!" twice.) It would correct itself after a reboot. But I haven't had any issues with any other games.

It was doing the same thing when fully charged so I don't think it's a low battery. I decided to contact Nintendo for a free repair. It is really bugging me, all of the sounds have a "ting" to them and I just want to get this fixed before Animal Crossing.

That's not blind fanboyism. I don't think I've seen anyone's PSP that has less than 4 dead pixels, and Sony refuses to fix a PSP with dead pixels if it has less than 14 close together.
