EGM gave it 7.5, 7.0 & 9.0. The main complaints were that there was noting really new in it and the online play was limited to a few mini games which weren't all that fun. They had lots of trouble connecting to WiFi too, even at free hotspots like McDonalds.

But I think you'll find most release dates are Tuesday in America (and Friday in the UK), and then for Nintendo games - most people argue these days that Tuesday is when they ship.

Nintendo is one of the worst companies for sending out games. Most other companies send them out so you receive them at least 1-2 days before its set release date. But it always seems, that whenever nintendo sends stuff, it arrives on release date or the day following. I loved the Christmas Tree in the town square, and seeing all the animals hanging out on Thanksgiving.
....off the top of my head, I cant remember what they do on Halloween, weird.

I picked up my copy and have been playing it for a few hours. I was able to connect with Wi-Fi very easy. Just be sure to follow the directions--especially if you have WEP encryption on your wireless router. Now getting you DS to link up to your Nintendo online account was a real pain in the butt. Because you cannot try to "Go Out" in Animal Crossings untill you finish with Tom Nook, hence you cannot connect to the Nintendo WFC to finish the linking of you Nintendo account with your Nintendo DS. After I did all of that my account linked up with no problem.

At first I was put off by the rolling earth view, but it has now grown on me and I really like seeing more of the town, plus you can see where the other creatures are better. I like the fact that you can see the sky.

There seems to be a lot of fun little editions in this version --- This is not a spoiler but what the heck is the secret cat? Haha can't wait to find out. It does look like everything you did in AC gamecube you will have to do in AC DS.

Maybe I need to calibrate my touch screen but it seems like I get stuck shaking the trees when I meant to pick up the fruit. Yes I got the big old swollen eye already!

The music and the sounds are really wonderful. You can set the sound to either surround or stereo and wow I really like the way my DS sounded.

All in all a very fun game.

Opps I think I remember who/what the secret cat is.

I believe when you go into the gates that lead out of town there is some Christmas-like music playing. Stop and listen.

I got the game today, and really can't give a review yet. I just started playing. I am heated about those holidays being missing (if true) cause that is one of the best parts of the game. Another thing is I know you can move out. So can I move into one of my friends towns? If so, bad ass.

I don't really care one way or another. On one hand, I'd like to keep them all in the same place. On the other, I don't think I'll be playing too much more than Mario Kart online often.

There is snow and you can still build a snowman. I believe that Nook will still be selling festive trees but as for Christmas day itself, the calendar does not show it as anything special. Same with Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Nintendo Power had a few pages long article on the game and one of the things they did mention is that the official holidays have been replaced with made-up festivals that center around "creative activities". Such as a day where you talk to all the animals and give them phrases to repeat. Or a flea market day where you travel from house to house shopping.

Now that's no to say that they've left out holiday themed furniture, or even entire seasons. But I haven't heard one way or another about it.

I admit that I've never played the GameCube Animal Crossing, so maybe this isn't news to most of you, but I'm bummed out that the game automatically weeds out any obscenities in your letters and posts on the message board and whatnot. What good is a customizable game without pointless obscenity? Of George Carlin's Seven Words You Can't Say on Television, only "piss" and "tits" are allowed in the game. Still, I'm happy to report that poop, crap, turd, fart, and hell are all okay.

It's very fast and easy. I've had 1 person visit my town and I've visited 2 myself, and the only problem was that I got disconnected once, but it was because the other guy accidentally hit the power button.

Has anyone played with Tag Mode at all? It sounds interesting if it works they way I think it does. You just purchase a bottle, write a note and then leave your DS on Tag Mode and if you run across someone else DS it sends them your bottle, constilation, or character. It's going to be hard to not haul my DS every where I go now.

Ouch, so..... Someone is visiting, I get a message saying "communication is lagging 15 seconds until it is lost if it doesn't recover"
I check my computer, web is fine, router is fine.

Then it says the game is resetting, and everything since the last save is lost.

Oh, what fun. This is nintendo's idea of a good time? resetting your game when you or someone visiting you's connection is lost? What a brilliant idea.

No, everything seemed to go smoothly while you were in my town. But I wound up getting disconnected both times I was in your town. The first time it happened when I tried to enter your store. I got a message saying the connection had failed, or something to that effect. The second time was the "connection is lagging" message you mentioned earlier, and it just happened while I was walking around.

What's REALLY confusing and pissing me off is the fact that if someone is visiting my town and the connection is lost for whatever reason on either end, the VISITOR'S game should reset and your game should continue on as if nothing happened. ESPECIALLY since the visitors game gets saved when they leave their town anyways, they're not really losing anything.

That's what else bugs me, I don't know WHERE the connection is lagging. I had full bars the whole time, and my internet was fine, so it's not my modem or router. It HAS to be a problem wither in the game, or on nintendo's end somehow. If it's fixable, I sure as hell wish they'd fix it. :/

I have oranges, and just picked up some peaches. I have no problem at all with anyone who comes over taking whatever fruit they can find. I'd appreciate if you can buy ANYTHING from my store (I remember the first animal crossing the store wouldn't hit max size unless a person from another town purchased something)
