Hey fellas.
I just bought a famicom and disc system off ebay, and I'd like to know anything anyone can tell me bout using them on a US tv (or not using). I checked on the knowledge base, but it's a bit sketchy. I'm looking for suggestions/warnings/"go ask Radio Shack" type answers :-P Thanks!

Ask Radio Shack is the worst thing you could do.
As far as i know you just use av jacks but i don't know if the FC has them.

Talk about the blind leading the blind. LOL As rbudrick said in another forum about the Famicom...
Famicoms must be on channel 95 or 96 in America. Older TVs need the fine tuning adjusted too. Newer TVs sometimes just work fine on channel 3, I hear, but have never winessed.
Hope that helps. :) Japanese Famicom systems us an RF box, they do not have RCA type A/V jacks - that's the AV Famicom.

Mine works just fine on channel 3.

Thanks for the help so far guys. I was wondering what I should do about the 110v that US uses, when the FC was meant to run on a 100v system. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Thanks, InsaneD, saves me the trouble of finding my own post, lol. As for the power plug, don't worry about it. It will work fine. Some hard asses unplug it when not in use to be safe, but there's really no point at all, imo.
Also, if anyone needs the very difficult to find plans on AV modding their FC, I have the plans and can email them to you. Email me at rbudrick at hotmail dot com. As I've mentioned in other threads, BEWARE, as they are Engrish city, probably an old save I did form a Babelfish translation. However, the diagrams and pics are all that matter. Super easy stuf for anyone that knows what a soldering iron is.

My Famicom runs fine on 95 or 96, but I've noticed it varies from TV to TV. And of course really old TVs don't go past channel 60 or so.
As for the AV mod, it's super simple. You just pop the thing open and there's a couple test pads you solder wires to. *However*, on some models of Famicom (like mine unfortunetly) you get a very dark and blurry picture if you ground the video cable. I don't know why, but if you simply disconnect the ground wire it'll work fine.
