Finished Jet Grind Radio (GBA) yesterday. A very well done action game. I should probably get around to playing the Dreamcast version at one point.
Hey, if I can beat another game this month (Genesis Sub-Terrania and GBA Astro Boy are good candidates) I'll have averaged a game per month. That would be awesome for me, given the unfortunately low amount of time I can devote to playing games.

Shadow Hearts: From the New World
Really fun game, lots of great side quests. I think Convenant was defenitely better though. The final boss died so god damn horribly because of the purgatory side quest.
Magic Mind's Eye + Ether Purge + Combo = DEAD.

A classic on the NES, Jackal. Though I've played it off and on since my friend got it some 16 years ago, I'd never beaten it solo.
I'm also working on Mega Man 5 for the first time, since I just recently acquired it.

Just played through Dracula X - Chi no Rondo. Haven't gotten 100% (only 60%), so I'm going to have to do some more exploring to find those alternate routes.
Fun game, but a bit tricky here and there...mostly because I haven't played nearly enough 2d platformers recently :( Figuring out the boss patterns was fun, as was getting my timing down for some of the trickier back flips through the attacks (such as when you fight Shaft and he throws the fire balls).

Dracula X (SNES). Not as bad as most people make it out to be, but it does suffer from some poor level design choices. Difficulty is a bit too high at points (making the game feal "too cheap"), especially with how far back you get sent at times after you die.
When all was said and done, I actually appreciated the Dracula battle a lot more than I expected. It wasn't too tricky once you got the process down and it did add more spice to the gameplay than what the PCE's final boss battle had. Without the axe, it would have been too damn hard, though...it seems like the battle is really designed around having the axe :( Perhaps if the pushing power of second form Dracula's attacks were toned down then it'd be a more level fight...

Just finished up Donkey Kong 64. A fairly well-done 3D platformer. Too much emphasis on collecting everything and some of the mini-games could be infuriating, but an overall positive experience. Anyway, that makes 3 games I've beaten this month - which means an average of one a month! That's probably a record for me since I got into collecting for systems other than NES.

I beat Sonic 3 and Knuckles with all the Choas Emeralds and Super Emeralds with all the characters in a three day stint (love the save - game feature!). Took about 4 hours per character I should think. I don't really know as I didn't time myself. Awesome 2D platformer with psuedo 3D stages and an amazing soundtrack.

Gun (PS2) - Great western adventure game, although it is a little on the short side. The game had many memorable shootouts, and there is nothing more satisfying than shooting the horse of the bandit you're attacking and then watching him tumble to his death. Decent story, and good voice acting help a lot too.

Just beat Ys II for PCE CD. Pretty fun, but Solomon's Shrine took forever. I'm sure if I played through it again now that I know where everything is, it wouldn't take me nearly as long.
As a bonus, I found a few good choke points where I could just hold down the turbo button and power level. Made the last 3 boss fights extremely simple.

PC - Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Ahhh...what a great journey. There were some gripes I had with it, and some things I like better about Morrowind, but it's undeniably a capital gaming experience. I kept delaying the final missions because I was just so into completing more and more sidequests and exploring the world, but finally decided to finish. The final scene is quite amazing, even though it was spoiled for me =\.
I've been enjoying hacking my character now though. Since I finished, I hacked my marksman up, put on my chameleon gear (105%) and started screwing with the townspeople.
Damage Health Poison + Enchanted Bow = Knocked out guard who dies while trying to get back up.
Also made a couple of interesting spells. Assrape Galore Mach II was the most entertaining.
Note: Do not fire off in small spaces with lots of items on shelves. STUFF FLIES EVERYWHERE. Only 1.9 million mana to cast! Ahh man...hilarious times.

Great stuff! Thats one of my favourite games. How are you doing on completing things without hitting anything at all to get those stars? I think mine's left with only 4 levels to go like that which aren't going to get done...
There's also a Japan only sequal called Kururin Paradise which is quite fun but in my opinion not as pure, you can alter the speed of rotation in it.

I beat The Longest Journey (PC) on 04/22 and just beat Warhawk (PS1) today.
The Longest Journey's puzzles were its weakest link, followed by the student-grade prerendered cinemas/character models. Otherwise fantastic game (wonderful ingame graphics, voice acting, writing, plot, music, etc etc etc etc etc etc). 4cd version gets a 7/10, 2cd gets a 8/10 (you don't have to swap discs with the 2cd rerelease, and it's only $10 brand new at CompUSA).
Warhawk has not aged well. Level 3 is still every bit as awesome as it ever was, but those last few levels are fucking punishing and tedious.

Let's see, I think I've added Silent Hill and Dragon Quest VIII since last time. Excellent. I'm keeping up on my one game a month ideal.
EDIT: And tonight add Sub-Terrania for Genesis. It's actually a cool little game and reminds of the more old school style - get as far as you can, die, then learn from your mistakes the next time.

Finally beat:
PS2 - Dragon Quest VIII
This was quite an excellent game. Very fun traditional RPG, with TONS of stuff to do! Even with 74 hours of play, I didn't get everything. Beat it this morning for the second time after doing the "Dragovian Trials". The bonus dungeon was pretty sweet. It added more backstory for the main character and after completing it, gave the game a MUCH BETTER ending. Ugh, I hated the first ending. The final Dragovian Trial was a bitch....all six dragons in sequence, with no healing or breaks, and then the Ultimate Dragon. The final dragon was a bit tough because Hero ran out of MP and one of the monsters on my "The King and Us" team died. Still made it though, even though unprepared.
Great game, and probably one of the longest times I've put into a console RPG. Only thing I didn't like was having a silent protaginist...but no biggie.

I just beat Sword of Mana on the GBA. It took me about 27 hours of game time but very little of it was difficult. I didn't do all the sidequests though, most of them seemed pretty tedious. Just finished Black (PS2). I loved the violent and chaotic combat, but what the hell was up with the story? You don't even get a showdown with the Lennex dude you've been hunting down. The last level was a complete pain in the ass too with constantly respawing soldiers with shotguns. I had no idea what to do in the last room and spent a good 30 minutes blowing guys away before realizing that I needed to lob some explosives into the pillbox at the far end of the room. 7/10 and a good first effort by Criterion.

Jaws (NES) - a very easy game when you know what you are doing. I spent a good 45 minutes trying to get Jaws as close to the boat as I could, and then trying to stab him. Turns out after reading a FAQ that you need to strobe Jaws as he crosses the nearest horizontal line and then stab him. Jaws was too close to the boat for me to hit him?! The game ends as Jaws lifeless corpse floats to the bottom of the sea and you fly off in your plane. Took me 10 minutes to show my son the ending after I figured out how to stab him. 4/10

Finished 2 games in two days. Just finished Kirby's Adventure for the NES. The save feature was nice, although it doesn't save how many extra lives you have accumulated. Overall a well designed and unique platformer, but this game seemed to start the trend of platform games being too easy. When you die you start at almost the same spot, as well as having unlimited continues. The end boss doesn't pose a challenge as you can just keep continuing if you die, and you start facing him immediatly with a replenished stock of Kirby's. 7/10

Beat Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm (N-Gage) on Saturday, bringing me up to 21 games so far.
It was the first N-Gage game I beat and it was surprisingly short. The AI was pretty braindead, the framerate was low, and the controls were clunky, but I still had enough fun playing through the missions that I ended up going back and knocking out some of those challenges, too. It was more like Sum of All Fears than Ghost Recon in that it was even further simplified down, but it still had the core gameplay that makes those Tom Clancy tactical FPS games so much fun to play.

#23: Pathway to Glory (N-Gage)
Belive the hype and fanboy ranting, this game does singlehandedly justify the purchase of an N-Gage. If you enjoyed games like Jagged Alliance or X-Com at all in the mid 90s then you fucking owe it to yourself to play this gem.
Please god, let the N-Gage get emulated sometime soon.

Just beat:
Xbox - Fatal Frame
All three difficulties, 100% ghost list, and all of battle mode. There's one last thing to unlock by getting S-rank on battle mode, but it's too difficult, I'm moving on to Fatal Frame 2. Time to murder some more ghosts ;D.

Colony Wars (PS1)
My god has this game aged well (for the most part). Graphics are still fantastic, mission variation is well done, storyline is pretty neat, and the music is suitably epic. Its main downfalls are in the disc swapping (you have to start with disc 1, load your save game, and then insert disc 2 if you're that far into the game), its relative lack of difficulty for the most part (once you get the hang of the emp cannon, nothing will stand in your way), and its length (though it does have multiple branching paths to explore with multiple different endings).
I played through it and missed out on half of the solar systems because of the paths I took, so despite being able to clear it in under 4 hours, there's still a good 2-3 hours of gameplay left to uncover at another point.
Hadn't really spent a lot of time with the game in years, so it felt really good going back to it. If you're looking to play it in an emulator, watch out. None of the emulators I've tested out (pretty much everything except Xebra) fully support it, so unless you're willing to put up with non-gameplay-affecting audio and visual quirks, I suggest playing it on a real deal.
so yea...#24!

I did not intend to get #25 done so quickly, but I just beat Spiderman for PS1 a little bit ago. Short but very fun game. Hell, I don't even care for the source material or the movies and I liked it.
Hell I don't even like Marvel and I liked the game.
The rooftop action was pretty neat and the (probably unintentional) nod to the classic 2600 game was nice. Good humor throughout (the quips from Spidey were annoying, but the conversations between him and others was generally entertaining) and the ending gave a good chuckle. Combat wasn't deep enough and the game had some annoying fall-through-the-world bugs, but yea...the game was still good and fun.

Some more beaten over the weekend:
Xbox - Fatal Frame II
Great game. Pretty fucked up story ;D. Still tons of stuff left to do! Most all of the unlockables cost tons of spirit points.
PS2 - Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
Finally beat damned Lucifer. You basically need a perfectly tailored team to beat him. I leveled up two more times to get "Life Surge" and max out my hitpoints cause I kept dying, but I actually killed him on my final attempt before he was able to use "Root of Evil" which kinda actually makes your HP irrelevant anyhow. Awesome RPG! Fusion system rocked and was very addictive. I'm sure I'll check out the DDS series. Gotta beat those two before the new one comes out ;D.

Rogue Trooper (PS2) - A very fun sleeper hit that is well worth the reduced price. Many people complained about the short time but each of the 14 missions took me ~30 mins a piece, so I didn't experience a huge problem with it. The ability to use you gun as a sentry gun and your helmet as a hologram was great, and the ability to salvage scrap from the corpses of your enemies was also a treat. I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of frantic action games. 7/10
