Castlevania: Symphony of the Night... again.
Treasures of the Deep, using a guide.
I think thats the way to go for me now since I dont have too much time to play games w/out "help", & can play more games quicker that way.
I'm halfway through Extermination using Action Replay/codes & still loving every minute of it...except for having to play through the Water Filtration Plant area about 10 times...

I finally got around to unlocking all the single player stuff in Mario Kart DS. 36 karts to choose from and all :)
I know what you're saying about using guides or cheats too. I just don't have the time to finish or even get too far in most games. Last year at this time it was taking me about 3 weeks to get through Half Life 2, I was playing about an hour every couple of days. So I ended up playing the last 1/3 or 1/4 of the game on God mode and still enjoyed the whole experience.

I'm keeping a log of what games I beat this year along with some comments about the game. Here's the first entry:
Game #1
Top Gear 2
SNES
1/8/06
For me, this game is one of my favorite racing games. Though I find it quite easy sometimes due to the fact you can just blast by everybody with a nitro, it's still fun anyway. This was quite a large racing game at the time of its release. Most racing games of this period that I've played have only around 20 or so tracks. This one blows that number away with 64 unique circuits! Also, you get to purchase upgrades for your car, which not many arcade racers had at the time. Finally, this game has some sentimental value for me in that I used to play this with my dad when I had a Genesis. So, I found this quite a good game until the very end. I still have to finish it on Championship though!

I just replayed through Twinsen's Odyssey for the first time this millenium, and it was still fucking awesome. The Twinsen games are the best action adventure titles ever, imo and have been sadly forgotten by most gamers.
It made me feel really good when I found out that it had such a tight-knit community built around it. It's not a big community, but it's a very loyal fanbase that eagerly awaits Frederik's announcement next month regarding the status of LBA3 :)

Castlevania (GBA - NES Classics) and oh it was just great. When I played it on the NES back in those days I didn't like it and now I'm wondering: How come? ^^
Has many flaws but the overall feel is way better than in most recent games.
Donkey Kong (also on GBA). It used to be great but it certainly isn't after the x-th port and the xxth times playing it.

Xbox 360 - GUN
Really good game, and one of the few decent westerns I think I've ever played. I played through this game on insane for the achievement and it was PAIN. If you are in the open standing still for more than a millisecond you are DEAD. After doing the side missions though, my guy was a lot more powerful and able to finally beet reverend reed with all upgrades bought...
That guy was kicking my ass hardcore but after upgrading the shotgun, I chased after him on my horse and that thing reloaded so fast and did so much damage he died in about three seconds, lol. Hollister was another hard boss...if he sees you for a second, you die in one hit no matter how much upgrades you have. That battle can be cheated though. The final boss took me a while, but after I knew what to do it was really easy.

I beat Stranger's Wrath yesterday morning and started up Project Snowblind...which I beat a little while ago.
Stranger's Wrath was an extremely good title. Very polished, the game length was spot on, only one or two instances where I was getting frustrated (FUCK XPLOSIVES MCGEE), and I felt really satisfied after I beat it. Shame that OI is no more, because I would really have loved to have seen a sequel or ANYTHING with the Stranger in it again. What a great character.
Project Snowblind was a pretty good game, but the game length really hurt it. We're talking maybe 5-6 hours here. The Deus Ex roots showed, which was nice... though the dialogue and voice acting was a bit cheese-tastic (compared to the awesome perfection of the first Deus Ex).
So only 2 weeks into the new year and I've already notched 3 games. Not bad!
Playing through Onimusha right now, so let's hope it holds my interest long enough to blow through the trilogy.

Bah, I started this thread in Modern Gaming because I never check this forum...
Xbox 360:
Dead or Alive 4 (Beat it with every character except Tengu. Fuck this game)
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (All 50 achievements)
Xbox:
Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (played it on PC, but only "own" it on Xbox)
PS2:
Guitar Hero (On Expert)
Dragon Quest VIII
GBA:
Final Fantasy IV Advance
DS:
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Kirby: Canvas Curse
Warioware: Touched!
Guitar Hero = My Bitch. Beat Cowboys and Bark on Expert tonight.
Suikoden V is getting really, really good. Glad I made the plunge at full price for this one. Also started to get a bit deep into Trauma Center. It's a lot better than I was expecting it do be, but then again I'm only on chapter 3 so I've got a ways to go.

So far this year, I've beaten:
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (DS)
Mega Man X (Mega Man X Collection, PS2)
Crash Bandicoot: The Huge Adventure (GBA)
Off to a slow start so far, but I'm still hoping to meet my goal of beating 50 games this year. :)

Onimusha didn't hold my interest as much as I had planned and I ended up quitting on it pretty early on. I'll give it another shot later.
I played through Panzer Dragoon Saga (Saturn) and then Beyond Oasis (Genesis), which brings my games completed thus far up to 5!
In a little lull right now between games and just kinda farting around in various titles I may or may not beat. SLAI (PS2) is way too hard for me to ever hope to beat, but I still chip away at it here and there (mainly grinding). Jurassic Park (SegaCD) is pretty fun but I doubt I'll be able to stay interested in it long enough to beat it without a walkthrough (too many technical limitations due to the SegaCD platform :( ). Legend of Oasis (Saturn) is a possible next game, but I just don't know.
Testing games in pSX Emulator and now dorking with the nightly builds of Yabause also sap away at precious game time...so I don't know what to do!
Against my better judgment, I think I'm going to throw Romance of the Three Kingdoms IX into the PS2 tomorrow. :(

I recently got a Dual NES controller, it was used by test stations to test equipment. So I had a thought.
I just beat Contra, not very impressive, I have beat it tons of times, but never like this. I used the Dual controller, and played 2 player by myself and beat the game like this. It was an utter pain in the nuts, but I done it. I had to use the 30 lives code, but I didn't have to continue.

Just blew through Crimson Skies High Road to Revenge over the last two days. Not a very long game, the ending was extremely unfulfilling, and it was riddled with bugs, but I still had a lot of fun.
I prefer the PC Crimson Skies game overall, but I don't regret the few bucks I spent on this sucker :)
6 games so far!

I beat Star Wars KOTOR II as a light side Jedi, and now I am playing it again and I am going to the dark side.

Just beat Feel the Magic XY/XX, a horribly unfulfilling, average, gimmicky game. It was everything I was afraid of when the DS' capabilities were announced and it lacks all of the charm of the Wario Ware games.
Oh well. 7 games so far!

Yahtzee finished making his final episode of 1213 (http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/1213/) yesterday and I've been playing the hell out of it. Counting all 3 episodes as one game, that's 8 for the year thus far.
If you enjoy Flashback/Prince of Persia/Out of This World/Nosferatu-ish gameplay, for the love of god, play 1213. It's fan-fucking-tastic.

Excellent game! Great story, very engrossing and well designed. The shooting sequences were cool and I liked the ending. It had the typical LONG ending from Hideo Kojima, but was well done. Highly recommend if you can grab a copy!
