Someone by the name of nice-reseal-job just bought all his top dollar auctions. He just racked up a big selling fee. Hopefully that will get him to think twice.

And yet his feedback has managed to go UP again.

BTW, here are some of his recent wins for you all to go bullshit over

9 Empty NES Boxes (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8269140931)

4 Complete NES games (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8267711582)

Large Lot of NEs and Gameboy boxes (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8268818820)

Actually, HERE's (http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidItems&userid=vididiots&completed=1&all=1&rows=25&sort=3) a link to all of his recent wins and items he's bidding on.

For what it's worth, I once had an eBayer shut down who ripped me off. He was selling DVDs that he didn't have. To everyone who questioned him in 30 days, he would refund and say that an "employee" lost some records.

The governmental agency to contact is the seller's state Attorney General's office.

In the case of the person who ripped me off, he was arrested.

Had some fun with him too. A skip trace gave his real phone number and address. Boy was he surprised when I called him at home and said, "Hi, is this Rodney ____, social security number xxx-xx-xxxx? Great! My eBay username is rev_overkill, you ripped me off!"

kevin_psx

What's a 'skip trace'?

Damaramu
03-26-2006, 06:45 PM
According to a website:

Skip Tracing is not just service that a collection agency can do. It's not something only detectives can do either. Skip Tracing is a skill that can be learned relatively easy

Anyone can find information about a person if they dig deep enough. The Skip Tracer may need information in order to: Collect Debts, Service Legal Matters, Repossess Something, Locate Witnesses, Locate Missing Persons or Heirs, Find Life Insurance Beneficiaries, Locate People that Property and/or Money is owed to Locate a Long Lost Relative, Friend, or Loved One. The list of reasons why a Skip Tracer may be needed can get very long

Skip Tracing can be a very rewarding job both challenging and financially rewarding. It is possible for a person to learn the trade relatively easy and in a simple way. If you want to get into this subject more, click on the highlighted areas throughout these instructions and check out the things I will be showing you

Locating people who have moved hastily or that have secretly fled without giving notice, and absconded in order to avoid paying debts, some disregarding and omitting what intervenes, or those that are trying to hide from the law, can be located. Those that are "Missing" (for a variety of reasons) can in most cases be found through the paper trails they leave behind

Divorce or Marital Litigation and lawsuits generate a lot of work for Skip Tracers. The service may be needed to help collect on Past Due Child Support or to help bring a Bail Jumper or Convicted Criminal to Justice. Sometimes it is only needed to correct a simple Human Computer Input Error resulting an Inaccurate Address or Telephone Number that is needed for contacting someone. With that said it brings us to the starting point

First thing, we should do is "Categorize the Skip." The person your looking for is either an Intentional Skip, or an Unintentional Skip. If the person has taken flight from the authorities for criminal acts, or they are not wanting to be found for some reason they are an Intentional Skip, and it is not likely this person will leave behind the typical "trails" that skip tracers look for. Many Intentional Skips are aware of what is necessary, what they must do, to avoid being found

The Intentional Skip avoids lawsuits, and bill collectors by moving around a lot. They may change their telephone numbers and get a Post Office Box to avoid obligations, but usually are not willing to make an entire identity change and will frequently leave a trail that can be followed

If the person is an Intentional Skip and they know how to hide, you just have to hope that person "slips up" somewhere. It gets difficult if the person has taken flight, they are aware of how to avoid paper trails, they do not stay in touch with old friends, family and relatives, they work under the table for cash only, they change their occupations frequently, they dropped all their old hobbies, they took on a new look, and they adopted new behavior patterns.

The following will be helpful in your search:

*

Subjects Common Name Used (and Alias names)
*

Spouse's Name and Maiden Name
*

Last known Address (and the date it was valid)
*

Any Previous Addresses (and dates valid)
*

Last Known Telephone Numbers (and dates valid)
*

Social Security Number(s)
*

Date Of Birth (or approximate age if date of birth)
*

Date Of Birth Of Spouse (or approximate age)
*

Last Known Employment (Occupation)
*

Last Known Employment Of Spouse (Occupation)
*

ID Numbers or Drivers License # (state issued in)

Ok...You guys are not going to believe this.......

Last week I sold some NES games to Donbills, a member on NESWorld. He sent the MO and I shipped the games to him. His street address was 1209 whatever....I thought all was good.

Today, I get a phone call from Don Bills in Mullika Park, NJ. He's asking me why I sent him a box of NES games. I'm like, because you ordered them and sent me a MO. He says he doesn't even have a Nintendo. So we are chatting for awile trying to figure out what happened.

Then he mentions that his address is 1222 whatever and I remembered that Nick Morgan was from NJ. So I start telling him about this kid who is screwing everyone on eBay. I say his name is Nick Morgan, he says, I am a high school teacher and Nick Morgan was in my class last year.

Long story short, Mr. Nick Morgan is using his former teachers name to conduct his "Business" now. We are pretty sure Nick lives at 1209 but b/c the box was addressed to Don Bills, the mailman figured I addressed the box wrong and delivered it to Don's house at 1222.

I forwarded all the links regarding Nick's activities that I could find here and on NESWorld to the real Don Bills. He will be contacting the police with all the information tomorrow. He is very scared that he will be in some shit over Nick's fraud.

So Nick, Mister_slug, vididiots, or "donbills".....your games are at your neighbors house. Don't ask me for a refund you putz....walk your ass over and pick them up if you have any balls. Or, wait till the police come and see if they'll hand them over. Chances are they'll be admitted as evidence against you sir.

Hope you all enojoyed the story. Mike

Hmm...he is committing mail fraud, IIRC. This is a federal offense. It might be prudent to get ahold of the DA offices in his area.

I'd rather not give out the phone number and email address. I don't want to overwhelm the guy. He did mention to me about the seriousness of this mail fraud. He also mentioned that he is just starting the investigation. It's possible that I may not find out any more information. Hopefully things work out and our buddy gets everything he deserves.

I got an email from the US Postal Investigator today. He told me that they arrested Nick Morgan on Tuesday of this week. Great work to everyone who helped bring him down.

The investigator did have one question...he wanted the links of a few of the games that Morgan bought and resold on eBay. Without having to go through and search all the posts...do any of you have some of these links handy? If so, PM them to me and I'll forward them on.

Elena, I just got into some trouble, and now I have to pay off a fine. In other words, I am going to need the money you owe me for Mario Party 3 sometime soon to help pay it off. If I could come over sometime and pick it up (maybe play some N64 while I'm there), that would be great. Let me know...

How about my preformated FBI letter?

This is in reguards to a seller who is defrauding collectors on ebay. Attempts were made by several collectors to contact ebay. Ebay claims they are not experts but this is a clear cut case even a non-collector can determine.

Here is one example of a used game purchased by ebay user vididiots.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8255873095

Here he has the same game which he is now selling but look its NEW.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8266268134

If you notice the wear in the upper left corner this is the same game.
http://students.rwu.edu/dfrickel920/0d_1a.JPG

The user was contacted and has since made his auctions private to prevent us from contacting the potential buyers. Vintage video games are a new but growing collectable. Buyers are often willing to pay many times the going rate if it is factory sealed. Please help us do something and put a stop to this guy.

I'm sure ebay and payapl have all that data that goes back. Also nice is that they can find the hidden buyers. All you need is a court order and now that the postal inspector is invloved they should cough all that info up.

I have a hard time believing this guy's been prosecuted.. based on a few "blog" entries and forum posts. I think it's just wishful thinking on most people's parts; that.. plus a growing upswell of people who may or may not have been ripped off by this guy.

I mean.. come on.. seriously guys. I get a real KICK out of watching the reactions here whenever somebody finds a scammer. "Call the local authorities!" "Report him to the BBB!" "Send a complaint to the Postmaster General!".. and the one that REALLY makes me laugh.. "Time to get the FBI in on this!"

Come on people! Let's be realistic now. Do you REALLY think that ANY of these agencies has the time; or even cares.. to pursue such trifling matters when there's imaginary terrorists out there to catch?

The local authorities would laugh at you, and tell you to stop tying up their phone lines (gotta' get back to their donuts). The BBB would simply file another complaint (possibly making it public). I doubt if the Posmaster EVER "e-mails" people to conduct investigations and the FBI? Well.. they're the FEDERAL BUREAU of INVESTIGATIONS.. they prosecute mob bosses.. they're not the eBay police. About the only two entities who would and should do something about this are eBay and PayPal.. and we all know how much THEY care. They take one look at this clown.. see how much revenue he's made for them in fees.. and drop it.

While I'd like to see a con like this face some consequences.. I'll believe it when I see something on a REAL, bonafide web site that reports REAL news instead of someone's blog entries, My Space site.. or a few forum members who want to believe that THEY have the power to fight crime and stop world corruption.

Let's face it.. there are bigger fish in the world to fry. If someone REALLY wants to put the kabosh on this guy.. just do what I've done in the past. Oh wait! This would take "time and effort" (great amounts of it). Simply IM ANYONE and EVERYONE who even places a bid on one of his auctions (Fortunately evilBay still DOES allow you to IM people you are NOT involved in a transaction with) and inform him of his practices, possibly even linking to forum discussions like this. I gaurantee you.. after 3 or 4 weeks of retracted bids and cancelled auctions.. he'd either stop.. or be forced to open up a new account under another name. This guy's been around awhile.. I don't even have to look at him on eBay to know that he PROBABLY still has a decent feedback score ("decent" being the key word here) built on customers who "didn't know better". Losing that and being forced to start anew would probably be the most severe blow anybody could deal to him.

I haven't commented on this yet because I could care less about sealed NES games and I don't have the time to be the gaurdian angel of every sucker on eBay, but let's all be realistic about the corruption here.. and each of our own persoanl power we have to stop him. Show me a "real article" about this.. and then I'll say congratulations are in order. This is the REAL world.. criminal's like this get away with FAR more worse crimes than this everyday.. and live to boast about it.

Whenever a major "warez" release group gets prosecuted.. it even make national news. I'm sure a scammer of this size and severity should at least garner a blurb on some site somewhere.. besides blog entries and forum chatter. I may be a pessimist; a nay sayer; the devil's advocate here.. but I'm 50 years old.. not 16, and I've seen how the world works.. ineffectively at best.

I will email him and see if he wants to be contacted directly or if you should go through another source. I will let you know as soon as I hear back.
