Ok, ok, I bought it for the Symbian 60 cellphone platform to play on my N-Gage (it plays most Symbian 60 games.)

I actually have the original 32x cartridge... I've had it for YEARS. Problem is that I've never been able to PLAY it, at least like it was meant to be played. DarXide is a true PAL 32x game (it just won't play on an American 32x unlike some other PAL 32x games) and I have not been able to coax my TV to play it right. Believe me... I've tried every way possible. I even got a PAL Mega Drive AND a frickin' PAL 32x... no dice! I've tried several adaptors... I get the damn rolling screen. The closest I ever got was wiring it through the VCR. I got the game to play fine, but it was in black and white. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

It's possible to play the original 32x game on a Genny/32x emulator, but it runs like my grandmother in 6 inch heels. MAYBE 10 frames a second most of the time, and it slows down even more when there's a static background of a planet or something on the screen. The REALLY graphic-intensive (and admittedly impressive) parts of the game (like when you are leaving the space hangar) slow the game down even more... I'm talking 2-3 frames a second. It's unplayable, really. This is a shame as this game seems top have early Saturn/PSX graphics... much more so than other 32x games.

Back to the cell phone version (in this case, N-Gage.) The game can be configued to take advantage of the N-Gage's layout (don't see that often!) It plays GREAT... very smooth and fast with nice sound effects and music. Two problems... the cool 3-D intro with all the flashy graphics has been removed entirely. Too much for the Symbian platform? That's my guess. The other problem is the screen orientation... it's vertical instead of the original game's horizontal (TV) layout. This game isn't pushing the N-Game's special hardware at all.

The game costs about 8 bucks online... I'm sure you can find it somewhere for free (but we really should support the developer... come on, it's $8 and they did Dog's Life for PS2.) There's also a Pocket PC version that uses the horixonal orientation of the original.

The cell phone versions certainly don't look as nice as the 32x original, but you get the general idea...

Where can you buy it?

Edit: Nevermind, a quick google search yielded results.

What about an RGB cable for the Genesis? Would that work?

RGB Scart Cable and an old Commodore monitor.

I sell the RGB cables in my eBay shop (link below)..

By the way.

I bought it for my PocketPC 2 years ago. It plays great on my old Dell Axim X30.
I recently bought the new Dell X51v with the VGA screen.
Although the resolution is still the same the picture is FANTASTIC. I love this game. It is perfect with the touch screen. The best 8 bucks I ever spent.

My RGB cable is not a scart. It's BNC with Phono plugs. I may have to check out what you have..

RGB Scart Cable and an old Commodore monitor.

I'd love to get one and I've even considered it... regrettably I live in a tiny loft and every foot is precious (I'm serious... I stopped collecting Saturn, Sega CD, Master System, and Genesis because I've run out of room, and I'm not too far from a complete N64 collection but I don't have space for that, either.)

I've become a cell phone gamer. Blecch. :puke:

I have always wanted to play Darxide. It would be great to own the original someday, but me living in North America, compiling the hardware to do this would be too costly and time consuming.

Since the game plays like garbage in most emulators, and I don't own a cellphone (who knows when I will ever need one), I guess playing an emulated version of the cellphone game would be the best alternative.

I can't buy an n-gage because of reasons that would take took long to explain.

The PocketPC version plays great even on my three year old low end Dell Axim. These have to be pretty cheap by now.

You'd have to be pretty lucky to get the 32X version for $500 - the last copy sold publicly made £700 (~$1300), and that was just for the box & cart.
